Midseason trades confuse the voters, it would appear. Lockhart was good for both the Suns and Warriors, but Saric was very good all year long and gets nothing. Even with a bump for defense it's a little absurd.
Bigs got a little less terrible this year. Again the trade seems to have given Teheran an ill deserved bump, and voters justifiably love Randle's defense. It could have been (and usually is) a lot worse.
For the second year Jesus is the real MVP and loses out to teammate Kyrie Irving.
