day 120wow, what a year
what a class
13 vs 16 vs 42 is gonna go down with irl 84 vs 03 as the great unsolvable draft debate
we've got two no doubt lead pipe lock superstars
and another who needs the barest bit of TC luck to join them
i wouldn't be surprised if all ten guys on the ladder made an all star team down the line
and as proper all stars, none of this PF garbage
wow
.
1. Kirk Hinrich - LR #1What a stud. His three point % would probably come UP with more reps. Wow. Scores with volume and efficiency, sublime handles, plus defense, solid rebounder. The biggest "hole" in his game is he only shoots 87% from the line instead of the 90s, and because Jump Shot doesn't tend to grow and can't be camped at that level he's probably stuck there. If you guys want to write him off because of that I'd really appreciate it, I'd love to have this goggly eyed so-and-so on my squad.
.
2. LeBron James - LR #2The Kings' Man (starring Colin Firth) has a legitimate gripe for being #2 - he'd have been by far and away #1 in any other class since I've been doing this. But this isn't any other class. And he's a clear #2. His scoring efficiency and volume are good (taking into account the option bump), his defense is super elite, his rebounding and jumper are decent, he needs work outright from three and handling. TC should take care of boards and threes, he can probably squeeze in a Jump Shot SC, the rest can be put to wherever needs shoring up. Bottom line all his problems are solvable, and if it weren't for the software's PG bias he'd be trading MVPs with Hinrich for the next decade.
.
3. Chris Bosh- LR #3The best big man prospect since Patrick Ewing. Bosh is a little behind where Ewing was defensively and a little ahead offensively - this is a fantastic position for a big man to be in as blocks and rebounds grow like crazy. A Strength SC would go a long way to bulking up that scoring volume and d/r too. Doesn't need much TC luck to reach multiple All-NBA 1st team levels, and even if he pulls a JBC he'll be an elite two-way big forever.
.
4. Luke Ridnour - LR #5The upper middle class man's Hinrich finished strong, and his higher Jump Shot gives him an even higher ceiling than the Captain... but he's got a lot further to go in handling, scoring efficiency, and height so he probably won't get there. Still, Fason scores two fantastic prospects to pair with last year's ladder winner Havlicek.
And he's got Crowder and Middleton on super sweetheart deals.
And Reggie Theus and Zach Randolph are only 27.
I was wrong when I said the 76ers shut the window. They took off and nuked the whole d@rn house from orbit.
.
5. Jason Kapono - LR #46. Kyle Korver - LR #77. Jerry Monroe - LR #8A trifecta of super sweet scorers. Three point ratio pegs Korver as the best true talent level (go figure huh A+?), but they're all gonna fill it up with no problem. Kapono gets the highest place because he's the tallest, best d/r, best handling. Korver isn't far behind on those fronts. Monroe is way behind, so he needs the most luck in TC. If Kapono gets lucky and shrewdly invested in he could be the starting SG for a championship team.
.
8. Chris Kaman- LR #10Neck and neck with Bosh defensively, and if you've seen Bosh's neck that takes some real doing. Needs a lot of work on offense but scores enough that investing in it is credible.
.
9. Luke Walton - LR unrankedThe Timberwolves' much ballyhooed draft kind of turned into Kirk and the Dumpettes, but Luke maintains star potential for me. He didn't embarrass himself as a power forward defensively, and he's a good enough scorer already that he should be able to reach league average playing at SF. He's far from a shoe in and could easily end up a tweener, but he's got a real chance.
.
10. Darko Milicic- LR unrankedDoesn't have a ton of minutes but has played extremely well in the 350ish he's gotten - good rebounding, okay blocks, super elite scoring that'll probably regress to merely very good but his jump shot is very good for a big. And he's 7'1", you can't teach that. Some great camps and Trofie will have a great third cog behind Granshard that will get stomped into paste by the 76ers every year but look that's what we all signed up for when we didn't go to 5.0 when Fason asked.
.
rest of lotto:
Carmelo Anthony - scores a lot but inefficiently, worse jump shooter than you think, allergic to passing, poor defender. A+ draft building job.
Dwyane Wade - add crazy wife to turnover problems and busted jumper as profile red flags. Elite d/r for an SG, but scoring efficiency is very poor.
TJ Ford - turns it over 5 per 36. bye felicia
Josh Howard - has a pretty interesting d/r package but that scoring, woof. Normally you'd think a great SG but then he'd shoot even more, woof.
Boris Diaw - yet another guy who needs work scoring, but shot 93% on a ton of FTA. Needs some home run Three Point camps and at SF just might get them. Could be very good down the line, but isn't now.
Tamir Goodman - lived up to the profile, a gunner without remorse or shooting range. Isn't good at anything. Oy vey.
Mickael Pietrus - was very close to making the ladder. Probably never more than a complementary piece but a good one nonetheless.
Marcus Banks - was lousy in 124 preseason minutes, was even worse in summer league, got 0 PT in the regular season. FOH Marcus Banks.
