Day 70 Update
Season's Best Big Trades
1. Lakers Trade Zach Randolph, Jayson Tatum, Lakers 49 and 4k dump bucks to Warriors for Dirk Nowitzki and Joe JohnsonSeason's Best Big Trades
-Great move by Ian to give him one of the only bigs that can score with consistent efficiency. Dirk's shot blocking has somehow improved to 3.7 per game since the trade and he's still only 26. This was a really cheap price for Taco to get back on Dirk. I know Taco is high on Tatum, but right now he's just a decent complimentary piece (4th best player for a title contender). Randolph is still decent, but getting up there in age and making too much money. That Lakers 49 first should be 1.25 or lower.
2. Cavs Trade Prince Rogers Nelson, Kyle Korver and Hakim Warrick to Bullets for Harold Miner, Braves 49, Bullets 48, Bullets 49, Bullets 50, Bullets 51 and Bullets 52
-Huge price to give up for Prince and possibly renting Korver for a year, but I guess Kn saw this as the only option to make him a contender. I wonder if 1. this deal was agreed to before Ayyoe said he would possibly blow it up and 2. Kn didn't want to deal with anyone accusing him of shenanigans had he traded for Bird or Lillard (Although Prince is better than Lillard now). I think Kn only has one pick left (Bulls 48) that he can use to possibly get another wing. I think we all continue to be impressed by Shaun's hustle and ability to sell, he now has a lot of future assets to rebuild with.
3. Jazz Trade AC Green, Malik Beasley, Chris Wilcox, Mavericks 49 and Kings 50 firsts to Grizzlies for Danny Granger
-Good move by Spl to get another legitimate wing with Brown. Team isn't playing as well as they had to start the season, but now have a much better chance to contend during the playoffs. I have no idea what Andrew is doing and why he started selling. He just gave up a lot for Wade the previous season and was only a D/R big away from seriously contending.

4. Lakers Trade Zaza Pachulia, Joe Johnson, Lakers 50 and Lakers 51 firsts to Grizzlies for Dwyane Wade and Jake Layman
-I'm not as big a fan of this trade for Ian as the Dirk trade, but getting Wade was a good move. He plays really good defense and makes up for Marvin Williams' mediocre defense. Wade could become one of the better shooting guards in the league if he can improve his three point shooting. Again, I have no idea what Andrew is doing here. He had just given up Larry Hughes and Grizzlies firsts in 49-51 for Wade. And now the Grizzlies don't have anyone even close to being a decent wing.
5. Rockets Trade Todd Mitchell, Donnie Butcher, Rockets 48, Rockets 52 and 5k dump bucks to Bucks for Terrence Jones
-Like I said last time, I have mixed feelings on the trade because it takes shots away from their perimeter players. Jones is shooting well and not hurting their offense too much while greatly improving their defense and rebounding. Good job selling by Duc to get a couple firsts for a player previously picked up off waivers.
6. Spurs Trade Dragan Bender, Brandon Ingram, Denzel Valentine, Boris Diaw and Thon Maker to Bucks for Monta Ellis and Harrison Barnes
-Solid move by Tim and Fecta to get another scorer without giving up any current big contributors. Interesting way to match money by using five prospects contracts. We may be judging this trade differently in a few seasons based on what Diaw, Maker, and Ingram turn into.
Teams Just One Player Away
1. Heat
-Scoring shooting guard
-Theus and Simmons are two of the best players in the league and Chandler/Stoudemire are a solid front court. While I like De'Aaron Fox, I'd like him much more as a third guard off the bench. The defending champs are only 9 games above .500 and only have +3 point differential. Another perimeter scorer that can average 20+ would give this team a really good chance to repeat.
2. Timberwolves
-Big that rebounds and blocks shots
-Tyler Zeller as your starting center This team should go get a defensive/rebounding big (Ayyoe has all of his picks to trade) or take Alonzo Mourning from Shaun.
*With or without a better center this team is going to surge up the rankings again this year, their 1-4 are too good. They're already up to 25-18 after flirting with blowing it up due to a rough start.
3. Kings
-Guard that can score with high volume
-I think it's safe to say Lebron is officially now the best player in the league. Benjamin is a really nice complimentary big with his rebounding and defense. Hughes and Austin are solid but only combine to average 41 PPG and it's tough to win in a title without a guard that can go off for more than 30 a few times during a series.
-
5. Bullets-Defensive Wing
-Made a big move for Prince and Korver to give them a chance to contend. I like Majerle and Korver overall, but don't like either as a SF and think their lack of defense could hold this team back. Even with Yao and Duncan this team only blocks 9 shots a game. A wing that can play 20 minutes a game to help boost the blocks and steals would go along way helping their chances in the playoffs.
Players Most Overlooked/Undervalued Too Early
1. Frank Ntilikina
-Teenage point guard prospect that started C inside five seasons ago. He was signed for only the MLE this offseason, after a mediocre first four seasons where he didn't shoot well or much. I had predicted he'd average 15 PPG this year, instead he looks like the next Reggie Theus. Whoops. He probably had that teenage dream TC in year one and now a cautionary tale for writing off teenagers too soon.
2. Kyle Korver
-WE DIDN'T LISTEN! WE SHOULD HAVE LISTENED! The last couple seasons the guy who made Korver had been pimping him in shout and we thought he was trolling, smdh. Korver was even traded twice last season for very little.
*I just noticed Kover and Ntilikina were Nets/Pacers last season, poor Heebs.
3. Eddy Curry
-Curry has been undervalued for almost his whole career. Early on most of us didn't expect him to amount to much because of low shot blocking. GBG got him for an MLE when he was coming off his rookie deal, then Trofie got him for 6.5 mil a year once his extended MLE deal expired. He's been one of the best bigs in the league over the last six seasons.
4. Josh Howard
-Went 1.6 in the 3042 draft, he was a decent wing prospect his first two seasons, regressed in year three, then sold by Lip to Heebs for dump bucks in year four. He's now by no means a star, but a well-rounded small forward that can do a bit of everything.
5. Chris Paul
-1.1 pick in 3039 that started with 100 potential. He wasn't ever overlooked, but was undervalued since most of us wrote him off as a bust. It took him six seasons to reach his potential and is now one of the better PGs in the league.
6. Martell Webster
-Webster was a decent looking teenage wing prospect that went 1.9 in the 3039 draft, he bounced around the league early and had always been a bench player until JHB started him last year. He's now a decent wing that can get you 20+ a game while playing solid defense. He has his flaws, but has upgrades left to improve his handles and shooting.
HM. Anthony Davis/Marvin Williams/Chet Walker
-All three were Clippers picks in successive years that all seemed to be underachieving. Anthony Davis was sold off for pretty cheap right before he was due to be maxed. Marvin and Chet seemed to be throw ins in this Hal Greer trade lolwrongtmbsl.proboards.com/thread/12403/1935-bobcats-clippers. I always think what could have been for Yawn if he drafted Lue instead of Olowokandi while he had those three.
*Clear message here is to give teenage prospects the time to develop, don't give up on lotto picks so soon because they often start with really high potential and don't pay attention to rookie ladders written by eric
Wings Better Than Jayson Tatum
Taco in shout called Tatum a very good wing after the Dirk trade and I said that I would list the wings better than him in this set of rankings.

Potential Free Agents
1. Ben Simmons-One of the best SFs in the league now, clear max if you can afford it.
2. Kris Dunn
-Star point guard and elite defender, another clear max if you can afford it.
3. Anthony Davis
3. Jaylen Brown
-Let it be known that I was one of the first people to recognize Brown's potential and never doubted him. He's only 23, shoots well and rebounds well. His turnovers and lack of defense keep him from being considered potentially elite, but he should probably get a max if he hits free agency.
4. Kyle Korver
-This year's big surprise, he'll be 29 next season with +19 that can be used to improve his defense or put into his strength/inside to try and help him get up more shot attempts.
5. Damian Lillard
-Getting up there in age at 32 next season, but has another 3-4 good years left. Should be able to take a middling team into contention if they can sign him.
6. Paul Pierce
-His numbers have a dropped off since the start of the season, but he still does everything pretty well and doesn't have any glaring flaws.
t7. Slava Medvedenko and Zarko Cabarkapa
-Couple defensive/rebounding bigs that will be 27 and 28. Zarko is having the better season so far, they should become two of the higher paid D/R bigs.
9. Martell Webster
-Solid SG, that will only be 28 and has +10 left.
9. Terrence Jones
-Is always one of the better shot blockers/rebounders in the league. His inconsistent shooting has always been an issue, but he's been shooting well for the Rockets.
10. TJ Ford
-He shoots well, can score with decent volume, gets a good amount of steals and has all of his upgrades. I hope somebody signs him, immediately puts +11 into his handles and gives him the chance to start. Brandon Knight way back when was one of the best PGs in the league when he was turning it over 3.5-4 times a game, give Ford a chance.
HM. Brandon Ingram, Boris Diaw and Miles Bridges
-Three wings that are interesting players. Ingram has his issues with scoring volume, but he could be like those players who were written off too early. Diaw doesn't do anything poorly and has most of his upgrades left. Bridges had a good rookie year then regressed his last two years, he could be a decent SF if his three point shooting recovers.
