Welcome to the Inaugural TMBSL Mafia Game!

Our setup is as follows:

13 players:

1. JHB - Mafia, Executed Day 5
2. Yawn - Civ, Executed Day 3
3. Odin - Mafia, Executed Day 4
4. Soup - Civ, Hit Night 3

7. Heebs - Cop, Hit Night 1
8. Eric - Mafia, Executed Day 2

10. 20s - Civ, Hit Night 2
11. Majic - Civ, Hit Night 4
12. SPL
13. Billy King - Civ, Executed Day 1

Roles distributed randomly:

3 Mafia Members - May communicate via Group PM that I will setup. Get 1 kill per night phase.

1 Cop - Gets 1 investigation per night phase, Cop is on the same team as the Civilians

Rules:

In its simplest form, the game of Mafia consists of two competing sides: the Mafia and the Town/Civilians. The Mafia's goal is to kill the innocents, while the Town's goal is to kill the Mafia.

At the beginning of the game, the Moderator will secretly send everyone their role via PM. The Mafia will know each other, while (in the basic game) everyone else will only know their own role. You should have received your role via PM.

The game has two phases: Day and Night

Day Phase

During Day, the thread is open for posting. All players will discuss in the Game thread whom to execute next. Generally, Civilians players will vote for someone they think is Mafia (the Mafia will vote so that they seem to be doing this as well, and might even vote for each other to confuse the Town);

Whoever has the most votes at the deadline is executed. In the case of a tie, the moderator will flip a coin and eliminate 1 of the people within the tie. The role of the executed player is revealed by the Moderator, and it becomes Night.

Night

During the Night, the thread is locked and no one can talk publicly. NO POSTING IN THE THREAD DURING NIGHT. The Mafia, however, can speak to each other via pm to plot strategy and decide who to murder before the next Day begins.

During Night, the mafia will pm me the name of a player to be murdered. This player will be killed and removed from the game.

During Night, the cop will pm me the name of a player to be investigated. I will respond to the cop via pm and reveal the role of that player.

The game alternates between Day and Night until all the Mafia are eliminated, or the Mafia have killed everyone else.

MISC Rules/Notes

- As this is the first game, I'll be more involved than a moderator would usually be. Feel free to ask questions regarding the mechanics of the game, and I will gladly answer. If you are a regular civilian, please only ask questions within the Public Game thread

- Do not publicly mention anything about Mafia PMs. Don't tell me in shout that you sent me a pm about mafia. That includes the initial role assignment pm.

- No dead posting. If you are executed or murdered, don't post in the thread.

- No post editing. 

- We're somewhat operating on the honors system given that we're doing this on Proboards. Just don't be a jerk.

- Don't SHOUT - Keep Mafia talk off of shout. All game-related discussion should take place within this thread.

- Everyone got a PM about their role. Mafia, Cop, and Civs. 

- Have fun!

Game Schedule:

Day 1 deadline - Monday at 11am CT
Day 2 deadline - Monday at 6pm CT
Day 3 deadline - Tuesday at 11am CT
Day 4 deadline - Tuesday at 6pm CT
Day 5 deadline - Wednesday at 11am CT
Day 6 deadline - Wednesday at 6pm CT

First official deadline won't be until Monday. But we can leave the thread open for discussion over the weekend, so everyone gets comfortable with what's going on.

A few notes on Voting:

Majority Vote - If a majority of the remaining players are voting for the same person, a 30 minute timer is started. If at the end of the 30 minutes, a majority are still voting for that person, then that player will immediately be executed, and we won't until the deadline time.

No Execution- Players may vote for a "No Execution". If "No Execution" wins the vote, no one will be executed during the Day Phase, and we will progress to the Night Phase.

How to Vote - Please indicate your vote by bolding a player's name. For example:

I vote for RW!

Missed Votes - A player may miss 1 vote without repercussions. If a player misses 2 votes, they are auto-killed and removed from the game. If you miss a vote during a Day that ends early due to a Majority Vote, then you are not penalized.

Vote Changes - You are allowed to change your vote as you desire. Simply bold your change.

Once the work week starts back up, we'll have 2 rounds per day.

The times I listed are when the listed day ENDS. For example, Day 1 will end at 11am CT on Monday.

After a day ends, we will briefly enter a night phase. There will be 30 minutes for the Mafia and Cop to pm me their night moves. During this night phase no one can post in the Game Thread. For example, Night 1 will approximately last from 11-11:30am on Monday

The Night Phase ends when I post who the Mafia killed. The next day then begins.  For example, Day 2 will approximately begin at 11:30am and run until 6pm.

I can't imagine it's even possible to have anything resembling evidence on day 1

Exactly. The mafia people know who each other are though and its in their interest to work together to lynch citizens during the day AND kill people at night. I have a lot of experience at this game and it's in the mafia's best interest that I die as soon as possible.

People who volunteer the first lynch, and if there is 1 or 2 people following up that idea... a lot of the times that's an easy way to find a couple evils. In a noob game especially.

Either way, you don't need to lynch me to get me killed. Let the mafia waste on of their kills on me. It will give you an extra day. It's dumb to lynch me since I'm a citizen.
