Heebs FectaDEEZ TimPig Heynong Man [Account Deleted] Bankz Lazy Pete SPLhere are the teams a - jhb b - spl c - herb d - fecta z - timpig y - pete x - bankz w - duc here is the turn order for round one: jhb tim herb bankz pete spl fecta duc here's the map, with jhb's range of movement highlighted: you can't stand in the same square as a friend or foe. if you move into a square around an enemy who does not already have someone else around them, they get an attack of opportunity on you. same if you move from a square around an enemy who does not already have someone else around them. that's not relevant this turn but just something to keep in mind. you have one standard action and one move action to use each turn. standard actions are anything that's not moving. so for example you could say "i wanna use my bow" and ready your bow, but you wouldn't be able to attack with it until next turn because that's another standard action. discussion in shout or in posts doesn't count as any kind of action. any Qs let me know, let's have some fun with this!

So I'm able to move into any of the highlighted area?
Is there a list of standard actions I can see?

So I'm able to move into any of the highlighted area? Is there a list of standard actions I can see? You can pretty much do anything a guy in an area wearing armor and carrying a big hammer could reasonably do

If I ready my bow does that mean I put my hammer and shield away

If I ready my bow does that mean I put my hammer and shield away since your sheath can only hold a weapon, it means you drop your shield at your feet and swap your hammer for your bow you can move to any highlighted area that doesn't already have someone in it let your imagination guide you for what standard moves could be, and i'll make it work with the mechanics.

Move forward 3 spaces and right 1 space
When I arrive, I slightly lift my leg and unleash a toxic-smelling fart and then quickly wave my shield to waft the ungodly, lingering fart smell in Duc's direction in an attempt to distract him.

Heynong Man rolls d20 for Fortitude save: 4 Heynong Man saves, no effect TimPig you are up, character Z the blue shaded squares indicate that jhb will get an attack of opportunity if you move into them but if you do, he won't be able to do so to anyone else unless he retreats and if he does that, you get an attack of opportunity on him

so here's what happened with jhb's "attack" duc had to make a DC 10 Fortitude save or take 1d4 damage per round until he did make his save
what does that mean
there are three types of saves: Fortitude, Reflex, and Will Fortitude is resisting poisons, not being knocked over, things like that Reflex is dodging stuff, reacting to the environment Will is resisting mind control, charm, handsomeness
each class has a base value for each save that is further modified by their stats
in this case, duc is a cleric (+4) with 14 Constitution (+2) and rolled a 4 4 + 2 + 4 >= 10 so duc saved
if he hadn't, when his turn came up he would have taken 1d4 damage which means rolling a 4 sided die 1 time which means 1, 2, 3, or 4 damage

also, DC stands for Difficulty Class. it doesn't really matter what it stands for, it just means that the higher the number is the harder it is to save against.

Ok, I have legitimately never played or even watched DnD, so everyone please forgive me if I do something stupid. I'm open to guidance.
For now, I'll keep it simple and just say:
Move left two and down two. I believe that should place me 4 spaces directly below Duc?

a wizard's spellbook has:
one resistance and two acid splashes (range 35), one expeditious retreat and two magic missiles (range 100), one blur and one scorching ray (range 25), one fireball (range 400, explosion radius 15)
and each tick mark on the map is 5 feet

Move back 2, and left 2 (so behind SPL, I don't need to catch any of his STDs).
Simon the Smart places the palms of his hands together, spreading his fingers apart as he recites from memory an infernal incantation. Between his palms grows a ball of flame that he hurls at Bankz the Bumbling Idiot.

herb rolls 16 + 5 on his attack roll against 13 DC = hit Bankz rolls 9 + 3 on his Reflex save against 14 DC = fail bankz takes 11 damage The fireball explodes, enveloping Heynong Man and Lazy Pete in roiling flames! duc rolls 6 + 1 on his Reflex save = fail duc takes 10 damage pete rolls 10 + 4 = success! Peter the Handsome nimbly dodges out of the way, his heavy plate mail catching the sun in a very figure-flattering manner. pete takes 0 damage . Bankz it is your turn, you are character X you have the same spellbook as herb one resistance and two acid splashes (range 35), one expeditious retreat and two magic missiles (range 100), one blur and one scorching ray (range 25), one fireball (range 400, explosion radius 15) fyi because you are a wizard you can't use a longbow as a bow but you can use it as a staff if you want.

Suggestion for next game - heavy plate gives you a penalty on reflex saves.

You can also take a move action. I don't know what any of this is. I've never played this game in any form Look at the most recent map eric posted. You can move anywhere within red or blue. If you move within the blue you can be attacked. The letters represent players on map listed in OP

I have no idea what I'm doing. So my teammates need to really help me out. It's like a board game. The picture eric posted is your board. You're player X. You can move within the red and blue colored squares. Red squares are "safe" and blue squares could provoke an attack from a hostile player in that square. As a wizard, you want to stay away from hostile players. I'd move back and behind an ally. You can cast a spell from the spellbook eric listed. Reistance, expeditious retreat, and blur are buffs (ability increases, like SCs or RCs) and the rest are offensive/attack spells. All of the spells have a range. The buffs are "touch" spells, meaning you have to be adjacent on the board to your allies to cast them. All of the offensive/attack spells have a range eric listed in parenthesis. All of the offensive/attack spells except for fireball are single target (meaning they hit only one person). Fireball is an area of effect spell, meaning it hits everyone within 15 feet of the target. You do not need to aim your fireball at a player, but can instead aim it at a space on the board that will allow you to hit the most people in its area of effect.

I've never played this game in any form so look at the map. you're the X, your teammates are W Y and Z. you can move to any red square with no problem. if you move into a blue square then jhb is gonna smack you, and you're a wizard so you don't want that. you should cast a spell on someone for sure. you can cast a defensive spell to help your team or an offensive spell to hurt the other team. pete's point is that if you cast Fireball on spl or herb and hit, it will hit each of them. if you want to cast Scorching Ray you need to move closer to someone you can cast Magic Missile on anyone you can cast Acid Splash on jhb or spl if you move a little
