Hosting a game seems fun bc you get to see how it plays out knowing everything but I am pretty sure I would fuck something up with night moves. oh i definitely did. i was giving out info night 2 before i had everyones moves. luckily it didn't matter and i did it right afterwards. Exactly what I am afraid of. Giving an investigation result before a bus driver or someone sends a move that means I gave too much info out. Is there a mafia flow chart I can follow somewhere if I run a game? only semi kidding

as far as the setup goes i don't think it was all that imbalanced for a first run. but if there had been a vet and omar it could have been over faster than it was, so idk. probably will just get rid of the vet. You don't think it was unbalanced? It was 3 vs 13 with 13 power roles. It was 8 vs 8 from the town's perspective. By far the lowest amount of town we have ever had.

I wish we could have also had the cult with Marlo but that probably would've been a bit too involved i would have kept the role there had we hit enough players but 15 seemed low for that with two mafs. if we can get something like 17 or so next time i host dual maf i'll throw in a cult. probably will always use the wire theme because it works well. Unrelated but I tried to get the gf to watch The Wire since I lost out of the game so quick and we were stuck in the house all day. She hated it :(

If delap hadn't been escorted, BG would have died, Delap would have survived, correct?

what were everyone's general thoughts on the Carver role? learn the role of anyone who visits you. too much? seemingly useless? would just alignment be better?

My biggest regret that game was confirming Bankz as Carver. He could have single handedly lost that game for MCU. Fuck me.

I tried to get as many people riled up as possible without getting my self voted off Day 1 and it resulted in no visits. I only had one visitor and it 20s spoiled my results.

Much like your mafia run today Claiming victory from your worthy comrades. Such a selfish and conceded behavior. Shame. Such a shame. You could have single handedly lost the game if not for me. You're welcome, Bankz.

mafia is a game with high statistical uncertainty. the difference between killing 0 or 2 mafia on night one is not statistically significant, but it has an enormous impact on how the rest of the game plays out. i encourage people not to draw conclusions on how balanced a setup is or isn't based on one game.
by way of illustration, before this game the town was 9-7 overall. if we had played the exact same setup all 16 games and the town was 90-70, that still wouldn't be a statistically significant difference from 50% (because 56.3% - 7.8% < 50%). it's really hard to get real measurements. my advice is to just have fun with it and don't worry about whether any given setup is or isn't balanced, because the truth is that nobody knows either way. there is insufficient data for a meaningful response.
.
a quick rules question going forward. how are we going to count majority timer with the mayor? example: there are 8 people left, one of whom is a revealed mayor six of the people who aren't mayor have made a 3-3 tie the mayor votes and makes it 6-3 6 is a majority of the 10 available votes. is that a majority? or is it not a majority because 4 is not a majority of the 8 people?
and we can also construct an example the other way around. five non mayors vote one way the other three including the mayor vote the other that's a 5-5 tie but 5 is a majority of 8, so is that a majority timer? and if so, a majority timer to what? overtime?
it hasn't come up yet but it obviously could and i think it would be better to have something in writing before it happens.
personally imo i think iyam that it should be counted as a majority of the available votes, that's jmo. obviously each admin could run it differently.

eric, at least in the version I host majority threshold remains the same even when the mayor is revealed.
