Eric mentioned before but it bears repeating, we can't really evaluate a set-up based on one game of evidence. This one had a ton of things that broke town's way (getting a sheriff plus lookout plus investigator, killing a MM on day 1 and day 2). This could just as easily have flipped the other way if we vote for someone other than canes or any of the mass murderers got a multi-kill night. every game turns into a role reveal about day 3 regardless. this is part of the reason why I would like to go back to a vanilla game or vanilla plus a cop vs. plain old mafia |

But I like Billy and/or Soup's set ups, I think they provide plenty of opportunity for mafia to succeed without role reveals

This game had an unusual amount of named roles for my games. Normally my games last until day 5 or 6 because most of the slots are Random. This was just a small quick game. I think just randomizing most of the slots and not letting roles be unique would help enough. I think random roles is a standard that should be in every game. Then you need to add one of the following: Most roles aren't unique (i.e don't have names like Aragorn) OR Only reveal alignment Only revealing alignment allows you to play theme games and still not have everyone just saying their name Day 3. Alternatively, just have generic roles like my setups. |

we've got an almost perfect 50-50 balance in town-mafia wins, i don't understand why people want to skew things in the mafia's favor
