1. We are 3/4 done with our first season. What are some of the biggest surprises to you?
Id have to start with the Bucks sitting around .500, truly felt they were going to be the best in the Central and East. The lack of turnovers was something I wasn't planning for. The top assist guys are averaging like one turnover a game which is ridiculous. John Williamson leading the league in scoring right now has to be a pretty big surprise and a great one for Ankly. I had the chance to trade for him in the draft for cheap and declined but said I may regret it. I'm not sure I regret it right now but he is only 23, so ill be very interested in seeing how he progresses. The pick I would have given up is the current assists leader so we shall see.
On the good side, Indiana is easily the biggest surprise to me. He has no interior defense and no PG, but ocho's squad is looking like a legit contender for the Eastern crown. Wilkes and Issel are one of the most potent scoring combos in the entire league. On the other side, I'm completely baffled by performance of trofie's Milwaukee Bucks. Before the season I would have guessed they would be a top 3 team in the league, but something is just not clicking there.
I truly thought Trofie would have a really good team. One of the biggest surprises to me is how much Ian is exactly the same which I love and hate all at once. He is good peeps though and I just enjoy fucking around with him a little. I am also shocked that HT is putting a winning product on the court. Granted they are all going to leave his happy ass but still. I also need more dirt trades, I miss logging on every day to sim and there were 27 dirt trades. I'm fairly positive Dirt had 15 teams and just traded with himself.
I picked the Bucks to represent the East in the TMBSL sim finals this season and fully expected them to dominate this season. Hovering around .500 is not what I expected from Trofie. The newer gm's have really hit the ground running. Fason and Tyler have built good teams, and have positioned themselves as title contenders.
I've obviously disappointed a lot of people this year so let me start by saying fuck you. I dont know why my team was so bad, I truly don't. So obviously my team is the most disappointing.
2. Of the new gm's, whom do you like the most, and dislike the most?
I'm not even sure who is new at this point, probably because they aren't as involved in shout and stuff yet but that's to be expected. Im guessing Fason and Tyler are the newbs and I don't like or dislike one more than the other.
I have had basically zero interaction with any of them, so it's tough to have any kind of feelings. Tyler kind of leaves a bad taste in mouth because I think he is being really irresponsible with his team. Although they are currently in first in the east, so what do I know.
I don't interact with new gm's. I treat them like pledges except I can't make them chug hot 40's are do PT work. They literally do not exist in my world. Tyler is a gay name anyways (unless it's an og irl name)
None of the 3 have really done anything one way or the other to make me like or dislike them. I will say that I really like what Fason has done with his team without completely mortgaging his future. He looks like a lock for the Atlantic Division title, and legit threat to win the East. I wish the new gm's would shout more and give us a reason to hate them.
I haven't interacted with any of them , but that's a good thing because it seems like most new gm's we get come in and are annoying off the bat and setting a bad tone.
3. Not counting Magic Johnson, who would you take #1 in the draft?
If I had my current team and a number one pick Id go with Natt as I really need a 3 and another scorer will certainly be welcomed. If I was rebuilding and didnt have a supporting cast I guess Id go with Dave Greenwood as I enjoy having talented big men and wanted to go with someone not named Natt.
If I can't have Magic, I would take Dave Greenwood. To me he looks like the safest pick in the draft (other than Magic), he already has pretty decent grades in every category you want them in. He could end up being a star, and even if he doesn't develop any further he's already a useful piece.
The aids of Magic Johnson so I could make a specimen that resembles Magic Johnson? I guess Greenwood which whatevs
I really like Calvin Natt. I'm not overly worried about is defensive grade. This appears to be an offensive league(shocker), and he appears to be the best scoring option in the draft including Magic.
I would take Moncrief Prob, I really like his skill set. Possibly Natt
4. What would your teams intro song be (youtube)
Intro to the song explains my season. And my entire team has Cancer in their blood
5. If we had a re-draft. Who would the top 5 teams pick?
This is a really tough question with taking contracts into play but Id go with and in no order Dr. J, Bill Walton, Bob McAdoo, Kareem and Artis Gilmore :)
if we are still taking contracts into account:
1. George Gervin (likely homer pick)
2. Bob McAdoo
3. Bill Walton
4. Julius Erving
5. Bobby Jones
(apologies to David Thompson, Jamaal Wilkes, and Elvin Hayes)
if we aren't taking contracts into account:
1. Bob McAdoo
2. Bob Lanier
3. Bill Walton
4. George Gervin
5. John Drew
I can't explain why but I still feel like I would take Dr J first again. Probably followed by McAdoo, Gervin, Walton and maybe John Drew in whatever order. Fuck your lists.
I don't think the top 4 could change at all. I think the top two were obvious picks due to talent and contract length. At number 3, I wanted to make sure I got a superstar on a 3+ year contract. Are there more talented players I could have taken there? Possibly. However, I wanted to pick a guy I knew I would have for a long time, and have the birds to offer the most anyone could. I think Fason is more than happy with his pick of Kareem at number 4. He has led the Sixers to one of the top records in the East. Likewise, I think Duc is very happy with his Bill Walton pick. However, with the domination that Bob McAdoo has shown, he may change his pick to him.
Dr J, Mcadoo, walton, gervin, drew
6. Do you like Odin as a commish?
Sure, nothing has been done that I dislike and I truly think he wants to make positive changes and is willing to listen to people and hear what works and what doesnt.
Even though the George Johnson injury was 100% due to Odin screwing up the upload on Sim 5, requiring a re-sim, I think he's doing a great job. Obviously there have been a couple growing pains, but he's really attentive and keeping the sims on a really regular schedule. I think we are in really good hands.
You are god damn right I like Odin as commish. He hasn't done anything to make me not like him and I doubt I would stop liking him because of something tmbsl. I'm very happy that he is taking time out of his day to do this though. Incredibly appreciative
I love Odin as a commish. He really values what all the GM's think about what the league should be, and honestly believes that this is "our" league. He also does a pretty damn good job of setting a schedule and sticking to it.
I love Odin, great guy. Always pushed for him to be the Commish as I always thought he would be good at it. Is a giant man, with probably the deepest voice i've heard. Probably makes the bitches cream just by talking.
7. Gif what RW is doing with his freetime now that he's not in the SIM league
8. Which player has been the biggest disappointment so far in the league?
Im gonna say Slick Watts and not because he has played horribly but I thought for some reason that he was going to dominate those assists and be a step above but hes played well on a team playing very well.
This might be more of a reflection on the team than on the player himself, I thought Alvan Adams would be good enough to basically carry the Grizz into the playoffs on his own. I was drooling over that guy. He could be a 6'9" PG. As it is he has A defense and top tier scoring grades. I think it's disappointing that the Grizz are currently on the outside of the playoffs, and Adams' only appearance on the league leaders page is 10th place on 3P attempts per game, which is not a particularly efficient shot for him (38%).
I didn't follow the draft that closely so how about any player drafted in the first 2 rounds that isn't playing to his grade level. I think that works for me.
Leon Douglas....woof. He's putting up decent statistics, but he's nowhere near the player that would give up to future firsts for.
I was not happy with the early version of Truck Robinson, but It probably hurt him working next to Dr. J , After him probably Lucas.
9. Biggest Suprise?
Goes back to John Williamson and his absurd scoring for me.
Hands down John Williamson. This isn't even close. A 3rd round pick is leading the league in scoring. Foots Walker scoring as efficiently as he does with C/C+ scoring grades is also shocking.
John Williamson and it's not even close.
Going to go with PG John Williamson for the Phoenix Suns. This guy was drafted in the 3rd round and currently leads the league in scoring with B- B+ scoring grades. Ankly definitely got himself a steal with this pick.
The software, you have guys with shit grades putting up great % and numbers in general. I thought it would be weighted far much more the other way.
10. Who takes the title, East or West?
East, Cavs mane
I just don't see how anyone can slow down the Lanier-Gilmore duo in Cleveland. I think we are looking at Cleveland defeating Minnesota in the finals, followed by Buse and Gilmore taking their talents elsewhere. Probably Atlanta, because that's how ward's luck seems to go in FA.
East. TEAM CAVS. (Fuck the IRL cavs though. Cocksuckers)
I think the West is easily the best conference so far this season. There will be a good chance that the best team in the West gets knocked out before reaching the sim finals. I think the Cavs will run away with the East before finally getting a challenge in the finals. Heel's front court will be too much for any West team outside of maybe the Timberwolves. I think the Cavs eventually end up with the inaugural sim title.
West has the best collection of teams. I don't know how the Pistons are this good, but I also don't think the Thunder are that good. I will go with the Jazz
