1. Heat - Shawn Kemp PF 6'10'' 250 20 A- C- D+ C+ B- A
After jumping up in the lottery last season, the Miami Heat looks on pace to lock up the worst record in the league this season. With the center and shooting guard positions locked up by other highly touted rookies Karl-Anthony Towns and software special Juan Keaney, canes will likely select the talented Shawn Kemp with the #1 pick of the soup commissioner era. After receiving a bump to A- inside scoring and dominating the competition in the first ever Nike hoops summit, Kemp should top many GMs' big board. As one of the youngest prospects in the draft, Kemp has plenty of room to add more weight to his already respectable frame.
2. Timberwolves - Tim Hardaway PG 6'0'' 175 23 B C+ B- B- C- B
Numerous reports of trade offers are now surfacing involving this pick that might be on the move as soon as the lottery concludes, the Timberwolves have a plethora of options at the #2 spot. With the biggest needs at point guard or post players, the Wolves are likely to select 2.0 legend (#ianstalgia) Timmy Hardaway to run the show for Minnesota. As a B inside scoring point guard, Timmy fits in with the strengths of the existing personnel of the roster. However, at 23 years of age and not having ideal size could be some cause for concern GMs looking to spend a high lottery pick on Timmy.
3. Warriors - Glen Rice SF 6'8'' 228 22 B B C C+ C B
The first of many lottery picks for the Warriors in this draft, GM ocho has enjoyed a string of good luck in recent years having jumped up two years in a row in the lottery to secure the services of a talented front court duo of Jahlil Okafor and Kenyon Martin. Glen Rice appears to have arguably the best looking scoring grades of anyone in the draft and fills a position of need for the Warriors as well after a disappointing season from rookie Mike Miller. If Rice develops his jump shot to compliment the 3 point range he displayed in the hoops summit, he could be a dominant scorer for the Warriors for years to come.
4. Warriors (from Knicks) - Danny Ferry PF 6'10'' 230 23 B C+ B- C+ B- B
With 2 projected top 5 picks, the Warriors have plenty of different options to explore in both the trade market and the actual draft itself. If Glen Rice can be converted to a shooting guard with little hindrance to his defensive grade, drafting the talented Duke forward makes a lot of sense if ocho wishes to convert him to a small forward to lock up his future wing tandem in this year's draft. In the draft summit, Ferry showed off his versatility, putting up one of the more impressive stat sheets with double digit points, rebounds as well as 7 assists. If those skills can translate to the small forward position, ocho's team will suddenly look like a playoff contender with the injection of scoring he gets from Rice and Ferry.
5. Cavaliers - Pervis Ellison PF 6'9'' 210 22 B+ C- C- B B- A
The Cavs at number 5 picks up the talented big man from Louisville. Some might argue, with valid points that Pervis arguably warrants a top 3 selection or even consideration as the #1 overall pick. With Cliff Alexander showing signs of developing into a great looking prospect, the lack of top tier center or shooting guard prospects in this draft hurts the Cavs a bit as picking Pervis will warrant a move to center from Cliff or a slide down to SF for Ellison. Nevertheless, GM h/t should look at this draft with selecting BPA as the number 1 concern and worry about sorting out the playing time later.
6. Spurs - Sean Elliot SF 6'8'' 205 21 B B C+ C C A
GM victor will enter the lotto looking to pick up a new face of his franchise as he puts his own stamp to the sim team formerly known as the Oklahoma City Thunder, what better place to start than irl Spur great Sean Elliot? With scoring grades rivaling those of Glen Rice, the 21 year old Elliot is only a +1 defense away from challenging perhaps a top 3 lotto selection. With a favorable rookie TC and some TLC in SC and RC depending on how active of a GM victor plans on being, Sean Elliot could be a solid foundation for a future Spurs contention run much like his irl counterpart.
7. Bullets - George McCloud SF 6'6'' 205 22 B- B- C C+ C- B
With the talent starting to thin out a bit at #7, GM kn88 might take a closer look at the hoop summit game and look past the irl career of Mr. McCloud. With Bledsoe on the roster and Mario Hezonja putting up decent numbers only in the 2nd year of his rookie deal, the Bullets should look at improving their front court depth, if McCloud's performance against other top tier rookie talent in the draft summit game is any indication of his actual skillset, this is a no brainer selection for the Bullets.
8. SuperSonics - Mookie Blaylock PG 6'1'' 190 22 C+ B- B B D+ B
The 2nd PG off the board comes in at #8 for the Seattle Yawnics. Despite a somewhat lackluster career thus far in 4.0, the Sonics have managed to acquire some top notch young talent with odd names. Mookie just seems like the perfect fit for Seattle in both novelty and practicality. With Shannon Scott leading the league with a Grant Hill-esque 5.2 turnovers per game, its unlikely he'll be the long term option to run the show for GM vedderman. Having B handling and defense already before his first TC, Mookie looks like a more polished point guard than even Tim Hardaway, should Blaylock last this long, this is a no brainer pick.
9. Warriors (from Clippers) - Sherman Douglas PG 6'0'' 180 23 B- C+ A- B- D+ C
The third pick in the lottery for GM ocho, the Warriors have a chance this offseason to completely revamp their starting lineup before even spending a dime in free agency. At now the "reach" portion of the lottery, Sherman's C potential shouldn't be much of a concern for a team that already has 2 other possible top 5 picks selected by this time. A couple of upgrades in Sherman's outside scoring and defense and he has a chance to be a quality starter for a playoff contending Warriors team in a few years.
10. Hornets - Nick Anderson SG 6'6'' 205 22 B- C+ C B- C A
With the 10th pick, the Hornets should look to put an end to their software SG experiment and cut their losses short while they still can. Nick Anderson offers GM rv a chance to draft an actual commish made player in the lotto for the first time in what seems like a decade now. At 22 years old, Anderson isn't exactly considered a young prospect, but with neither Paul Ahye nor Jonah Samake showing much signs of being more than roster fillers at 20 years old, taking a "risk" with a 22 year old guard with attractive looking grades might not be the worst thing in the world for Charlotte.
11. Cavaliers (from Jazz) - Pooh Richardson PG 6'1'' 180 23 C+ C+ B+ C+ D+ B
Heading towards the end of the lotto now, the timing would be right for the Cavs to take a gamble on the 23 year old point guard that was running the show for the jayrish dynasty back in 2.0. Unfortunately with no summit box score to reference his productivity, h/t will be drafting without much info but his B+ handles and a slew of other grades that look more like a corky special than a useful starter quality sim PG. However, if Richardson can develop his outside scoring to B+ or B in his first rookie TC, he might be the steal of the draft for the Cavs.
12. Cavaliers (from Raptors) - Vlade Divac C 7'1'' 243 21 B C- C+ C+ C+ A
The 3rd Cavs pick in this article, at now the tail end of the lottery it becomes more about finding potential sleepers or specialists that can contribute meaningful minutes. As the only true center in the lottery, Vlade has decent size for a big man but not ideal grades, having subpar at best defense and rebounding grades. However, if his scoring grades can propel Vlade into a somewhat efficient FG% and his defense and/or rebounding can develop by a +1 every year during his rookie contract, Divac could end up being another steal for the Cavs.
13. Magic - Gary Leonard C 7'1'' 250 22 B D+ C- C+ B- B
The final pick of this year's lottery, the Magic could do a lot worse than a 7 footer who blocked 6 shots in the draft summit game. With big man Chris Mihm showing a lack of prowess at protecting the rim, Leonard adds an immediate fix to one of the Magic's biggest needs. The only cause for concern is that B D+ grade might turn Gary into a future Kevin Willis. GM mj would do well to wish for a -2 inside scoring TC from Leonard should he pick him at the end of the lottery.
