Hello loyal readers. The end of the 3015 draft brings us to the 3014 post-draft GM grades. Without further ago, we bring you the goods. Vote your conscience.
SPOILER ALERT - Ian gets an F.
Blazers – B
Duc has a lot of needs with his roster. Without a PF or SG, Duc addresses positions of extreme need. However, his roster is in pretty bad shape as I doubt the fans in Portland want to watch an aging Payton carry a limping roster into the 8th seed.
1.14 Clifford Robinson (11) PF 6'10'' 225 23 B C C- B- C+ B
2.13 Blue Edwards (7) SG 6'4'' 200 24 B C+ C C+ C- C
Bucks – A
How can the Report not give an A to a draft class that includes The Don and Vlade? Anthony cook looks like he could turn into a defensive specialist at PF, too. Really love this class for a retooling Bucks team.
1.10 Vlade Divac (12) C 7'1'' 243 21 B C- C+ C+ C+ A
2.15 Anthony Cook (9) PF 6'9'' 205 22 C C- C- B+ C+ B
2.16 LaDon Childs (15) PG 6'3'' 188 23 C- C B B+ C A
Bullets – C- (first round D; second round A+)
Woof. After a couple of nice drafts in a row, Kn whiffs in the first round, but makes up for it in the second with a shooting guard with great potential and unparalleled pedigree. Unfortunately the first round picks matter a lot more.
1.7 George McCloud (6) SF 6'6 205 B- B- C C+ C- B
1.29 Adrian Caldwell (5) PF 6'8' 265 23 C+ D D+ B- B+ B
2.6 Jay Edwards (7) SG 6'4'' 185 21 C+ C+ C C+ D+ A
Bulls – C-
Soup gets an A- for picking great value players late in the second round, but Bruns gets an F for going MIA and letting Soup autopick him players at a position where he doesn’t need anything. C- is the average.
2.20 Xavier Pollard (9) PG 6'2'' 175 23 C C+ B C+ D+ A
2.23 John Morton (6) PG 6'3'' 180 22 C B- C+ C+ D+ A
2.26 Mike Higgins (6) PF 6'9'' 220 22 B- D+ D+ C+ C+ A
Cavs - B
Continuing to cash in on his hoard of firsts, Heels has made 9 first round picks the last two years and Ellison should be the best of the bunch. That said, it isn’t generally good team-building exercises to collect mediocre players on 4 year deals, which is what happens when you make 9 first round picks in 2 years. Hopefully someone other than Ellison pans out for the Cavs.
1.2 Pervis Ellison (13) PF 6'9'' 210 22 B+ C- C- B B- A
1.11 Gary Leonard (7) C 7'1'' 250 22 B D+ C- C+ B- B
1.12 Chris Childs (11) SG 6'3'' 195 22 B C+ C B- C- B
Celtics – B+
Dump gets a good looking prospect at PG with the imminent Kidd retirement. McCoy and Garnett aren’t good players at all, but they fill out his roster and will likely never see the court.
2.17 Brandon Butler (10) PG 5'7'' 173 20 C C C+ B C A
2.21 Hayden McCoy (0) SF 6'7'' 244 21 C C+ C C C- C
2.25 Myles Garnett (5) C 7'4'' 251 20 C C D C C+ C
Grizzlies – B+
Hubba hubba! White and Francis both look like outstanding prospects. Dino’s grades leave a lot to be desired, but the Report gives the benefit of the doubt to GMs with historically great drafting acumen.
1.17 Dino Radja (7) PF 6'11'' 255 22 B+ C- C- C C+ B
1.20 Randy White (11) PF 6'8'' 240 22 B C- D+ B- B+ B
1.21 Rocky Francis (15) SG 6'4'' 191 20 C+ B+ C B D+ B
Heat – B-
Canes earned a B+/A- grade for the players he selected, but the Report grades the entire draft and spending 13k dump bucks to true potential scout two prospects at 1.3 is too much for us to overlook.
1.3 Glen Rice (11) SF 6'8'' 228 22 B B C C+ C B
2.2 Russ Schell (11) C 6'10'' 253 22 C C- C B- C+ A
Hornets – B
Taking a page out of Pete’s GM’ing guide, Rv seems to be collecting SGs. The values are good, but the strategy is suspect.
1.9 Nick Anderson (12) SG 6'6'' 205 22 B- C+ C B- C A
1.23 Drew Nichols (11) C 6'10'' 255 19 C- C- D- B C+ A
2.9 Michael Smith (9) PF 6'10'' 225 24 B B- C- C C+ C
Jazz – A-
We at the report like to balance fairness in grades with pandering to likely voters, all while working within a strict (ok, not so strict) curve. That is why it pains us to give 2Poor a good grade. But Hammonds is a great pick in the middle of the second round.
2.11 Tom Hammonds (11) PF 6'9'' 215 22 B C C- C+ B- B
Kings – A
20s continues to show his drafting prowess by taking an outstanding looking prospect in the middle of the first round. His potential leaves a little to be desired, but B potential means Douglas is likely a top 5 pick, so 20s is probably grateful for the low scouted potential allowing Douglas to drop to him.
1.15 Sherman Douglas (17) PG 6'0'' 180 23 B- C+ A- B- D+ C
2.24 Mike Morrison (7) SG 6'4'' 195 22 C+ C+ C C+ C B
Knicks – F
What in the actual fuck.
1.27 Taylor Swift (7) PG 5'7'' 135 22 C- C B+ C C- B
Lakers – A
The quickest way to earn the best grade in the draft is to select two former Pacers and a player like Kenny Battle with 2.1. Battle’s age is the only thing keeping the Lakers from earning an A+.
1.16 Pooh Richardson (11) PG 6'1'' 180 23 C+ C+ B+ C+ D+ B
2.1 Kenny Battle (17) SG 6'6'' 210 25 B C C A- C C
2.14 Haywoode Workman (8) PG 6'2'' 180 24 C B- B B- D+ C
Nets – C
The Nets get no credit for Jackson, who fell in their lap when Ankly generously let them buy 2.5.
2.5 Jaren Jackson (10) SG 6'4'' 190 22 C+ C+ C- B C B
Nuggets – B
He’s got the name and the grades to be an Odin sleeping at the end of the second round. At the very least, Bankz could trade Iin to the Yawnics for a future first.
2.22 Byrorvn Iin (7) SG 6'5'' 190 23 B- C+ C C+ C- B
Pacers – C+
Jerry, Jerry, Jerry. With front court depth for days, he passes on some interesting guard prospects in favor of middling forwards with good potential. The Report has officially stopped holding the harryg regime against the Pacers and JW, so we sincerely wish our best to the Pacers, but fear the worst for this roster.
1.18 JR Reid (9) PF 6'9'' 247 21 B C- D+ B- C+ A
1.19 Chucky Brown (8) SF 6'7'' 214 21 B- C- C- B- C+ A
2.19 Brian Quinnett (7) SG 6'8'' 235 23 B C C- B- C- C
Raptors – A
Pete’s second only to Druce when it comes to drafting, and this draft just further evidences that. Without a pick in the lottery, Pete moves in and takes potentially the best player in the entire draft.
1.6 Danny Ferry (17) PF 6'10'' 230 23 B C+ B- C+ B- B
1.22 Todd Lichti (8) SG 6'4'' 205 23 B- B- B- C+ C- C
1.25 Waterbug Grant (9) PG 5'7'' 140 23 B B C B- D+ C
2.12 Jeff Sanders (6) SF 6'8'' 225 24 B C- C- C+ B C
76ers – C
Mr. Irrelevant will be just that.
2.29 Isaac Gaines (2) SF 6'8'' 212 22 C+ C C C C- B
Sonics – C+
I can pronounce all of these names. Something is wrong. We like this draft class, except that we have every idea how to pronounce these names.
1.8 Mookie Blaylock (13) PG 6'1'' 190 22 C+ B- B B D+ B
2.8 Roy Marble (7) SG 6'6'' 190 23 B C+ C C+ C C
2.28 Scoonie Hayes (10) PF 7'0'' 237 23 C C C- C B- B
Spurs – B
Davis could be the best defensive big from this class. Victor is showing some early drafting chops.
2.7 Terry Davis (9) PF 6'9'' 225 22 B C- C- C+ B+ C
Suns – C
The best part about this draft is that Ankly cut Dampier. Average is a compliment.
2.4 Junie Lewis (5) PG 6'1'' 180 23 C+ C+ C+ C+ C+ C
2.10 Scoonie Sura (7) C 6'10'' 201 22 C D+ D B- C+ A
2.18 Hahn Dampier (4) PG 6'2'' 191 22 C- C+ C+ C C A
Thunder – C+

2.27 Toney Mack (7) SG 6'4'' 205 22 B- C C+ C+ C- B
