Hello sim fam. A couple of months ago I did the best lotto picks by draft slot. Now it's time to look at the superscrubs.
1.1 - Kobe Bryant - 3012 (Nuggets)
Starting Grades: B C+ C+ C+ C- A
Current Grades: B+ B+ B-B- C-C
Career Stats: 18.7 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 3.5 apg.
Accolades: 3012 All-Rookie Team, 3013 All-Star
- This was a tough one. I went back and forth between Kobe and Bernard King, but I settled on Kobe because the 3012 class was much stronger than King's 3003 class. I can't fault , though. An 18 year old with those starting grades is hard to pass up. also took Jermaine O'Neal with his second lotto pick, so give him credit for that.
Other Notables: Ray Allen (1.3), Shareef (1.4), AI (1.5), Stephon Marbury (1.6), Jermaine O'Neal (1.10)
1.2 - Chalky Studebaker - 3012 (Nets)
Starting Grades: B B- C B- C+ B
Current Grades: B B C- B C+ C
Career Stats: 5.3 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 0.8 apg
Accolades: 3012 All-Rookie 2nd Team
- Woof. The second pick of the 3012 draft is arguably the worst pick in 4.0 history. That +0 rookie TC proved to be the start of a garbage career. Word is his older brother Cliff won't even speak to him anymore. Dammit man.
1.3 - Scottie Pippen - 3010 (Blazers)
Starting Grades: B C C+ B B A
Current Grades: B+ C+ B- A- A- B
Career Stats: 4.4 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 1.3 apg
Accolades: none
- Pippen was the third pick in a two man draft (Admiral, Bossert). That disappointing rookie TC (+1 rebounding, -1 potential) was a sign of things to come. Don't let his current grades fool you, he's awful.
Other Notables: Kittenfish (1.10) I guess
1.4 - Jack Sikma - 3003 (Pelicans)
3003-3015
Starting Grades: C+ B- D+ C+ B- A
Career Stats: 5.4 ppg, 7.1 rpg, 2.1 bpg
Accolades: none
- It's easy to see why Sikma went so high. 6'11 bigs with those scoring grades don't come around often. Unfortunately that B- outside dropped to a C+ after rookie TC and a bust was born. It's worth noting that Sikma's best season was his last when he put up 8.8/11.4/3.2 in over 30 minutes per game. He went out on top...kinda.
Other Notables: James Edwards (1.6), Walter Davis (1.8).
1.5 - Kevin Johnson - 3010 (Hawks)
3010-3016
Starting Grades: B C+ B- C+ C- A
Career Stats: 5 ppg, 3.8 apg, 1.8 rpg
Accolades: 3x Slam Dunk Champ
- The best thing about him was Pete's sig.
1.6 - D'Angelo Russell - 3013 (Nuggets)
Starting Grades: C B- B B- C- A
Current Grades: C B+ B A- C- C
Career Stats: 3.9 ppg, 3.6 apg, 1.8 rpg.
Accolades: none.
- It looked like had a future star on his hands after a +4 rookie TC, but it wasn't meant to be. Currently in the FA trash heap. Tough break, nigga, there's always Voodoo.
Did you guys know D'Angelo's Brown Sugar is a weed song?
Other Notables: Kaminsky (1.9), Niang (1.11)
1.7 - Luol Deng - 3006 (Raptors)
3006-3011
Starting Grades: B- C+ C B- C A
Career Stats: 4.8 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 1.5 apg.
Accolades: none
- The next pick was Emeka Okafor. Ouch. Pete redeemed himself by taking J.R Smith at 1.9, though.
Other notables: Okafor (1.8), Smith (1.9).
1.8 - Dennis Scott - 3007 (Hawks)
3007-3015
Starting Grades: C B+ C- C+ C A
Career Stats: 4.8 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 0.8 apg.
Accolades: none
- That outside grade never translated into buckets. After a bump to A- in rookie TC, Scott would go on to 154 threes in 321 career games. 3Deez nuts, you bum.
1.9 - Kerry Kittles - 3012 (Kings)
3012-3015
Starting Grades: B- B- C+ C+ C+ B
Career Stats: 1.7 ppg, 1.1 rpg, 0.8 apg.
Accolades: none
- The Lindsay Lohan of sim league. 2.0 was Mean Girls. 4.0 was meth teeth and frumpy British dykes. Let's remember the good times.
1.10 - Justise Winslow - 3013 (Suns)
Starting Grades: B- C C- B- C+ A
Current Grades: B- B- D+ B+ B- B
Career Stats: 4.5 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 1 spg.
Accolades: none
- Will forever be remembered as the guy taken a spot ahead of Niang. Just kidding, he won't be remembered at all.
1.11 - Derrick McKey - 3010 (Bulls)
3010-3013
Starting Grades: B B- C- C+ C+ B
Career Stats: N/A
Accolades: none
- After going -1 in rookie TC, McKey said fuck it and bounced. I'm serious. He never played a game.
1.12 - Wesley Johnson - 3005 (Rockets)
3005-3008
Starting Grades: C+ B- C B C B
Career Stats: 10.2 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 3.5 apg.
Accolades: none
- Johnson wasn't that bad. He's here because the 12th pick has been surprisingly strong in 4.0. Reeves, Fazekas, Cartwright, Stansbury, Jeff Malone, and Tom Sanders are some of the guys who went 12th overall.
1.13 - Dick Gross - 3016 (Nuggets)
Starting Grades: B C- D+ B- B- A
Current Grades: B+ C- D- B B- B
Career Stats: 2 ppg, 1 rpg, 1 bpg (1 career game, 4 minutes played)
- It took 4 minutes for this Dick to bust.
**Year with most busts: 3010 (3)
**Team with most busts: Nuggets (3) <--- sorry,
Thanks for reading, folks.
