I wouldn't mind starting around where we left off in 2.0. What is everyone thinking?

So would that be something like 1988-89 draft class?

yeah. also think that 2001 wouldn't be a terrible first rookie draft.

How about random draft classes? As in we could have the 2001 draft class in one year, then the 1975 draft class the next year.
Just a thought...

Would still need to pick a starting date and put the 15-20 years prior to that date at the back of the draft line. Would also probably be a good idea to have the random order set in advance so people still at least know which drafts are around the corner.

Odin could maybe list HS seniors once a season, that way we know going into their senior year that they could be coming out.

The way I see it we'd start at the merger and randomize every draft class after that. When we're done with those we can start over. Should actually work pretty smoothly.

I like it as long as we do know what players are coming in the up coming draft(s)

do not like randomized years, if it means one year you're getting the 78 draft class, next year 84, next year 74 etc. Makes planning a possible rebuild impossible
edit: depends on how far ahead of time we know what prospects might be in what draft.

I was thinking 3 years with minimal or zero dudes going back to school.

Yeah if there is just a list going where you update it every season and show the draft class that would be badass. Will take some more time and research to not inundate years with a shit load of bigs or guards but it's different which is nice.
1974 1997 1978
Would be sweet and that's without me even looking. I actually very much enjoy this idea.

Also instead of us saying it's year whatever for the season lets just start at year 1 for the league. So for drafts it would be like
Year 1 - 1974 class Year 2- whatever Year 3 - whatever
Better than us being in 1989 and using 1972 players. Holy adderral

how would that affect the undeclared players?
like if year 1 is 2003 and Lebron is going to college for w/e reason, does he declare next year that could be 1992, or he declares in 2004 which could happen to be like year 8?

I would assume lebron would be in the year 2 draft of that was the case

Undeclared players could simply be done away with.
Don't think that adds much value anyway.

yea Lebron wouldn't go to college in that situation. He is a part of the 2003 draft class along with Wade, Melo, and Darko and that isn't going to change. Also I very much like this random classes idea.

I like the idea of no undeclared players. Just take the class as is.

I wouldn't be mad about this at all. In my opinion though, I'd list the pool of however many years to begin with. At the end of each draft, randomly select the next year's draft class until all have been chosen once.
I prefer less notice so people aren't planning massive tank jobs and don't really know what they're getting year to year. Then it's not just rewarding the most shameless tankers as often because they could end up with Kwame Brown shitting on their plan.

I still like undeclared a little bit because it can change a player who IRL was awful and became solid or vice a versa (PASTOR TROY)

Is there any way we can try to add more depth to the classes? I know there's a handful of names drafted late that turned out to be good, but just because you get a pick outside of the lotto doesn't mean you should never get relevant players that could at least contribute off the bench

that's the way its suppose to work just like irl, either you bottom out or you be elite.
iirc there are plenty of 6th man types that were drafted just outside the lottos like the Yinkas, DeAndres and backup wings.
