Dil's 3023 GM Spotlight
I decided to create a RT of sorts that has nothing to do with sim. I was thinking the other day about how I spend more time talking to you guys than I do with most of my friends yet I know very little about any of your real lives. Figured this would be good for everyone. Enjoy.
GM: kn88
Age: 27
Height: 6'0
Weight: 195
Hometown: Washington, DC
Current town: Arlington, VA
Did you play sports growing up? Explain:
- Yes. I played football and basketball through high school.
Where did you go to college?
- Started at Howard, finishing at George Mason. I worked full-time for five years before starting school. Now I'm the old man on campus.
What did you study?
- I studied business at Howard, then switched to communications with a focus on media production at GMU.
What do you do?
- I'm a concierge/amateur psychologist. I spend most of my time talking sports and listening to tenants complain about their mates. It's a good job, though. I get paid to shoot the shit and do school work.
Name up to three other jobs you have had:
- I worked in the warehouse of a security system and locksmith company in high school. I refurbished safes and file cabinets that were damaged by water and fire. I also stripped commercial vans. Also learned to pick locks, but we'll keep that between us. Very fun job.
- Worked at a car insurance office for a bit. That sucked.
- Ayyoe and I delivered flyers for Pizza Boli's in high school. Their pizza sucks. I once saw the manager drop wings on the floor and refuse to toss them out. Someone ate shoe bottom flavored wings that night. After seeing that, we'd go into the shop to pick up the flyers, then toss them in the dumpster and go play Madden. Fuck 'em.
Relationship status:
- Single.
Kids?
- Nope. Team glove love.
Do you have a criminal record? Explain:
- Nope, but I'm sure Dump does.
Tell us about two of your non-sim hobbies:
- Does picking up OT shifts at work count? I try to stay active. If I'm not watching sports, I'm playing sports. I also like to go on really long walks. I'm talking five-hour walks here.
Name four of your favorite bands that would give people a good idea of your music taste:
- Do Hall & Oates count? They play instruments. If so, they're at the top.
- Kool & The Gang
- Doobie Brothers
- CCR
Biggest pet peeve:
- I can't narrow it down to one, so I'll list a few that bug me. First, chewing loudly with your mouth open. If you do this, fuck you. Second, using literally incorrectly. If you say things like, "I literally died," fuck you. Third, parents who let their kids act a fool, especially in public. If you don't put the fear of God in your kids, fuck you.
Bonus: Biggest turnoff is girls who smoke cigarettes. Can't stand it. I don't care if they smoke hookah or even weed, but cigs just annoy me, man.
Where do you see yourself in ten years?
- I'd like to move out of D.C. and experience something new. I hope to be working in radio or TV by then (behind the scenes, not in front of the camera). Winning the lotto would be nice, too.
Best advice you've ever gotten:
- My African parents used to harp on taking advantage of the opportunities available to me in this country. I'm starting to get it.
*Bonus Question*
Do you wish Ian was still here?
- Yes. I always enjoyed our shout convos about China, food, and our shitty sim teams. I'd like to see him come back.
GM: Face-in
Age: 29
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 185
Hometown: Montgomeryville, PA

Did you play sports growing up? Explain:
- I played baseball, basketball and ran track. I wanted to play football but was too skinny so I just played a ton of backyard which was by far my favorite sport to play.
Where did you go to college?
- Penn State satellite campus for 2 years and then transferred to Temple University.
What did you study?
- Finance
What do you do?
- Sales rep for a pharmaceutical company.
Name up to three other jobs you have had:
- I've worked for the same company since I graduated high school, as I was going to college I worked for a bunch of different departments. I worked in the mail room, shipping/receiving and did data entry.
Relationship status:
- Single
Kids?
- Nope and I don't want any
Do you have a criminal record? Explain:
- No
Tell us about two of your non-sim hobbies:
- I like to workout 4 or 5 days a week. I'm not a bro. Just trying to keep myself from getting fat. During the fall I play in a flag football league on Saturday mornings.
Name four of your favorite bands tho give people a good idea of your music taste:
- Still love my 90s and alternative rock. My favorite bands are Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Radiohead and Muse.
Biggest pet peeve:
- Inconsiderateness
Where do you see yourself in ten years?
- Living in the Pacific Northwest, still running the sim Sixers and doing something where I get to work and help kids. I'm currently looking into to going back to school in order to become a social worker.
Best advice you've ever gotten:
- Never trust a big butt and a smile.
*Bonus Question*
Do you wish Ian was still here?
- Yes I miss him dearly.
GM: eric
Age: 30
Height: 6'
Weight: 11 stone (70 kg)
Hometown: Trumbull
Current town: Trumbull
Did you play sports growing up? Explain:
- Little League and AYSO as a yout, plus everything with my two brothers (hockey, basketball, football, racquetball, Magic: the Gathering) none of which if you want to be technical we played by the "rules", running softball and wrestling (professional and very briefly Graeco-Romaen) in high school.
Where did you go to college?
- Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
What did you study?
- How to spell Rensselaer, physics, philosophy, the unique jawline of a particular woman
What do you do?
- Data analyst / i makes the numbers dance
Name up to three other jobs you have had:
- Teaching assistant, tech support, libratorr (liberry man)
Relationship status:
- Single
Kids?
- No
Do you have a criminal record? Explain:
- No
Tell us about two of your non-sim hobbies:
- Kina Grannis is a singer-songwriter. I am a very big fan of her music and her. She is and continues to become a first rate version of herself. She is a big believer in connecting with her audience and so she produces an enormous amount of free, public content for us. I am very well trained in scribal skills, and so I am the ideal person to transcribe this content into words and pictures. It is good to feel good, but it is also quite distracting. Reviewing the material in calmness at a distance allows me to see everything.
Name four of your favorite bands that would give people a good idea of your music taste:
- Kina Grannis, Bruce Springsteen, Muse, Hem (a little folk band)
Biggest pet peeve:
- People who drive with wipers on and headlights off. It's not just a good idea, IT'S THE LAW.
Where do you see yourself in ten years?
- There's no plan, no fate, not even what we make for ourselves. There's just chaos, and violence, and random unpredictable evil that comes out of nowhere and rips you to shreds. I am prepared to live as long as I get. Anything else assumes a level of control that is not empirically justifiable.
Best advice you've ever gotten:
- Be more gentle with yourself.
*Bonus Question*
Do you wish Ian was still here?
- I wish the best for Ian. Should that include a return to sim league, I say so be it.
GM: ANK1990
Age: 24
Height: 165
Weight: 5' 10"
Hometown: Glen Ellyn
Current town: Chicago
Did you play sports growing up? Explain:
- Played Soccer, volleyball, and basketball as a youth. Then Soccer and Volleyball through Highschool. Probably best at volleyball but liked soccer the most. I really miss playing sports regularly. It's kind of shocking how you can go from thinking practice was a chore in highschool to nowadays really missing it.
Where did you go to college?
- Undergrad at KU. Abroad at Sun Yat Sen University for a semester. 1 Year Masters at Notre Dame.
What did you study?
- Accounting
What do you do?
- Tax Consulting
Name up to three other jobs you have had:
- Mini Golf Attendant in High School: Best was one people would call in asking for a tee time and I'd pretend to put them down for it.
Tutor at KU: I tutored Calculus and Business courses at KU for athletes and a couple other groups. Really enjoyed it for the most part. Met some good people.
English Teacher in China: The class was basically out of control until I introduced a Skittles-based incentive system. Had fun though, I was basically on my own to teach what I want with no supervision because none of the parents spoke English. The kids were very young, so just focused on speaking.
Relationship status:
- Single
Kids?
- No
Do you have a criminal record? Explain:
- Nope. Never even had a speeding ticket.
Tell us about two of your non-sim hobbies:
- I've joined a Volleyball and Soccer League, looking forward to it. Meet new people and compete in a sport again. My Cardio is shit right now though.
I really need to get off my ass and learn a language, be it foreign or computer. Now that I'm done with my big Accounting test, I should be able to do that.
Name four of your favorite bands to give people a good idea of your music taste:
Ankly's Top 4 albums of all time off the top of his head
- Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys
- The Glow Pt. 2 by The Microphones
- The Magnolia Electric Co. by Songs: Ohia
- Surfer Rosa by The Pixies
Biggest pet peeve:
- Airport Security. Just a massive waste of time and money.
Where do you see yourself in ten years?
- Man that's far off. Will be interesting to see if I'm still in Chicago. Hopefully I'll have done some serious travelling by then. I also see myself celebrating a sim league title with my wife Emma Watson and then picking 1st overall that offseason thanks to the draft wheel.
Best advice you've ever gotten?
- "You have to study abroad in college"
*Bonus Question*
Do you wish Ian was still here?
- Ian is certainly missed in terms of admin stuff for the forum although there are GMs who have picked up that slack. Eric has filled and surpassed the software void left by Boyd. I mean I'd welcome Ian back, but I can't say my enjoyment of the league has changed without him. Hope he's doing alright though and do wish he'd pop in and give an update.
GM: dilworth
Age: 22
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 175

- Furman University
What did you study?
- Exercise Science; Religion. Picked up a minor in Ancient Greek & Roman Studies along the way.
What do you do?
- CrossFit coach
Name up to three other jobs you have had:
- Floor guy at a sports retail store.
- Basketball referee for 2nd grade girls, worst job I've had by far. The parents are relentless. "That's a travel!!" "Come on that's a travel!!" *blows whistle, calls a travel* "Really?!?! They're 2nd grade girls! Cut them some slack!" Repeat x100
- That's it outside of some internships.
Relationship status:
- Single
Kids?
- Nope
Do you have a criminal record? Explain:
- Nope. I was told by the police that I am banned from the city of Seaside, FL due to an incident in high school. Pretty sure that was just to scare me though.
Tell us about two of your non-sim hobbies:
- Dil loves to workout and learn about how the body works. He also likes to play sports and read his Bible.
Name four of your favorite bands that give people a good idea of your music taste:
- The Avett Brothers
- Outkast (90's)
- Passion Pit
- Blink 182
- The Rolling Stones. Couldn't pick just four.
Biggest pet peeve:
- When people say literally when they literally mean figuratively.
Where do you see yourself in ten years?
- Hopefully living somewhere on a coast or in the mountains. Married and starting a family. Maybe I'll have double digit sim titles by then. Can't wait to draft Stanley Robinson Jr. in our second lap of draft classes. Now that MJ and Duc are gone I think I'm the second longest tenured GM to only be with one franchise, behind trofie. Need to get him out of here ASAP as possible.
Best advice you've ever gotten:
- Emotions are a great gas tank but a terrible steering wheel.
*Bonus Question*
Do you wish Ian was still here?
- Absolutely, the league is obviously fine without him but he was great for activity.
