East
1. Bullets
Starting out east I have the bullets with the 1 seed. They don't have the deepest team by any means but Kn has the best 1-2 punch in the league. Naulls doesn't look so hot anymore and I think he'd be better off finding another big and playing Murray at the 3 , but his star power nets him the #1 seed out east
2. Raptors
I've got Pete winning the Central. Slightly edging out the bucks of Milwaukee. He's got a deep team and can play with his lineup as he sees fit. I don't love his bigs behind Webber , and I'm not a Matthews fan but a trio of Webber, Tobias, and a more seasoned Porter should be fantastic for a while.
3. Sixers
Have tremendous depth. Could make a case for the 1 seed. Might get beat on the boards by bigger teams , but are the most balanced team out east. If McLemore takes the next step this team could be scary. Big ups to fason for molding a roster that does not turn the ball over.
4. Celtics
I've got the Champs landing the 4 seed. Lost some depth but shouldn't need it unless injuries occur. Canaan may have already peaked which sucks but he was able to get it done last year, so there is always hope. Could be a buyer at the deadline with some large but moveable contracts on the books.
5. Bucks
5 seed for the bucks. Top defensive team in the league last year. Should lead the league in blocks and possibly rebounds. If one of the young pg's show up they could contend in the central. Have depth all over. Question will be if they can score when they need too.
6. Heat
The heat return everyone they had from last years team. The heat struggled down the stretch but with another TC from a young core they should be improved. They should also contend for the coveted rebounding title. Still this team turns it over too much to make a deep run. Solid but not spectacular team.
7. Magic
Jhb comes in at 7. I loved his trade for Hurley as Levine is to turnover prone. Overall as a team they lack the ability to force turnovers and might struggle against bigger teams. Outside focus should kill it with the shooters they have. Have decent depth.
8. Knicks
I wanted to put the Hornets here, but if there is one thing I've learned it's don't count eric out of the 8 seed. Looking at his team I honestly can't tell you what they do well, but the good thing is that eric will show up and tell us.
West
1. Jazz
I like the jazz here. They have the kings mold of the past with dominant guard/wing play and rebounding/defensive bigs. They could lead the league in scoring but I do question the ability on defense. On most nights it shouldn't matter to much though.
2. Clippers
Dirt will win the Pacific again. Team mold is close the jazz but they wont rebound as well and will turn it over. They will also accumulate more steals than blocks. Which is odd
3. Nuggets
Same old nuggets. Imo without injuries they were in the finals last year. Kind of surprised he dealt Hurley as I would have built with him as pg instead of Brandon. This team will lack depth due to something called a "salary cap" . The salary cap prevents people from going over 80 mil. Could easily see this squad in the finals though.
4. Kings
On paper losing Lj hurts , but overall I don't think it does much. They have the best scorer in the league and a very good pg in knight. Have tremendous defensive bigs as well. Don't like the amount of team turnovers and lack of wing depth. Tremendous team D though.
5. Rockets
Initially had the rockets above the kings and nuggets but the more analysis I did landed them here. The team lacks depth and I hate Benji at the 3. Hate it. This team has a high floor but low ceiling imo. Too many turnovers and lack of defensive ability will hurt them.
6. Timberwolves
Kn built a similar team out west. Tremendous 1 2 3 but lack of front court WOW factor will do them in. They don't struggle at one aspect but they don't excel anywhere either.
7. Grizzlies
They have the best defender in the league down low , but outside of him there isn't much behind him. Like a lot of teams this team has a tremendous ability to turn it over at an alarming clip. They should score the ball well but don't have a defined identity.
8. Lakers
They upset the #1seed last year ,I don't see that happening again. I should have them above the Grizzlies but I already wrote the Grizzlies above so I'm not changing it. They don't force turnovers but score well and play good team D.
Miscellaneous
The east is stronger than the West this year top to bottom imo.
76ers over the nuggets in the finals
Ankly will win the lotto.
2 gm's quit this year
Kelso will still not be cool.

"lack of defensive ability will hurt them."
Had the #2 defense in the league last year with the same starting lineup. Benji was the #1 defensive SF.

I would say Jazz were the top defensive team last season according to the individual defensive ratings

I wanted to put the Hornets here, but if there is one thing I've learned it's don't count eric out of the 8 seed. btw since we're talking about it I did some testing of individual defense ratings by simulating a software season several times and seeing how the measurements shook out, and I'm discontinuing that article because there was too much variance for my tastes, RMSE of about 10 spots. thus we can be confident benji was a top 10 defensive SF but obviously there's a big difference between that and the #1 defensive SF, and same goes for the various jazzers.

I was not a good defensive team last season?
My team was 6th in oppg, 2nd highest in otpg and ofg% was 4th best.
not saying I was the best defensive team but I think my defense was among the top in the league last season.

all i said was that the individual defense rankings carry ± 10 on them.

You poor fool Trofie. My Nuggets are all about that regular season success. The sim gods wont allow nice playoff things for me.
