The Good: MKG is a strong, athletic small forward. He has lockdown defensive potential with the versatility to guard to 3-4 different positions. He’s a physical on-ball defender with a high awareness level off the ball; he should be able to stuff the stat sheet defensively. Kidd-Gilchrist is a strong, aggressive rebounder due to his non-stop motor and athleticism. Offensively, he’s at his best in open space where he is a very good finisher at the rim. His strength allows him to finish through contact and get to the free throw line at a good rate, where he does shoot a good percentage in spite of his ugly form.
The Bad: He shoots free throws well, but his jump shot may be broken due to his poor mechanics. Will probably never develop three point range.
The Ugly: Low potential as an offensive player, he figures to be a slasher only at the next level.
