Thought I would take time to give a look at the 3036 draft before the Summit.
Wings
1) Larry Bird B B+ C+ B- A- B
Sort of a no brainer here, SF eligible with A- rebounding. Should go at 1.1 without a question
2) Mike Mitchell B B- C- C+ B B
Great scoring grades and C+ defense and B rebounding. The slight uptick in rebounding puts him slightly ahead of Pervis Short. Both he and Pervis will be SG eligible players. Will be interesting to their summit results I would expect these players to come off the board anywhere from 7-12 range.
3) Pervis Short B B- C C+ B- B
Same grades as Mitchell only differense is the -1 on the rebounding. Could end up jumping up the draft boards if he puts up a good performance at the summit.
4) Terry Tyler B- C C- A- B B
Some work would need to be put into his jumper but B- inside and A- defense and B rebounding. Downside for him is that he is not SG eligble. He could have much higher upside over Mitchell and Short because of that defense, going to be interested to seeing his scoring efficency numbers in the summit.
5) Ron Brewer C+ B- C B- C- A
He has a very interesting grade set and could blow up with that A potential as the 2nd best wing in the class.
other wings worth watching
George Johnson B C D+ C+ B+ B
Freeman Williams B B C- C C B
Ron Carter C+ C+ C- C+ B- A
John Long B- B C C+ C B
Keith Herron C+ C+ C B- C A
Point Guards
1) Reggie Theus B- B- B- C+ C A
A PG at 6'7" and 21 years old, this draft has a lot of PGs but most others are 22 or 23. The scoring grades are very interesting especially with that A potential. I would expect him to go 1.2 in the draft behind Bird.
2) Prince Rogers Nelson C+ B- B+ C+ C- A
He is only 19 years old, the youngest PG in the draft. He is a player that should go in the top 5 of the draft.
3) Michael Ray Richardson B- C+ B B C+ B
Listed at 6'5" makes him a very interesting PG option. He is very close on my list to Prince. He looks to be a very good defender and rebounder at the PG position.
4) Phil Ford C+ B B B- D+ B
Very good grade set with the C+ inside and B outside and B- defense. Not a good rebounder but the rest of the grades should put him the late Lotto talk in the draft.
5) Maurice Cheeks C B- B B C B
Don't really like the C inside scoring, might not be a volume shooter but the rest of the grades are very interesting. Would expect him to go in the draft outsie of the lotto, might fall into the picks at the end of the 1st.
Other PGs worth watching
Butch Lee C B+ B C+ D+ B
Mike Evans C+ C+ B B- D+ B
Gerald Henderson C+ C+ B- B- C- A
Bigs
1) Robert Strong C+ D+ D+ A- A C
He is a guy that is ready made to play right away. I would expect him to go at 1.3.
2) Mychal Thompson B C- C- B B+ A
More upside potential than Strong and is a player that can go in the top 5 of this draft.
3) Rick Robey B- C- D B- B- A
Clear drop off from the top 2 bigs in this class. This is a guy with some very good potential that should go at some point in the lottery. His scoring efficency numbers will be something to look at the summit.
4) Dave Corzine B C D B B+ C
The grades appear to be good for a big man, the C potential is a bit concerning that dropped him down to 4th on my list. However, if that is a smokeshow, he could blow up.
Best of the rest
Wayne Cooper B- C- D B B+ B
Jerome Whitehead C- D+ D B- B A
Dave Batton B- C D B C+ B
Finally, Best name in the draft.... Chubby Cox C+ C+ C+ C+ C- A. Very interesting grade set and I imgaine someone is going to want to take the Chubby.
