Strengths:
Ellis is an outstanding athlete with the potential to become a dynamic scorer at the next level. He has very good quickness and can get into the lane with ease. Is a creative finisher at the rim and can finish athletically over bigger defenders. Has decent stroke on his jumper and should be effective as a mid-range shooter. Ellis has a good handle for a player his age, was not turnover prone in high school. Defensively, he has excellent lateral quickness and is highly adept at getting into passing lanes.
Weaknesses:
Doesn’t have a defined position, as he lacks the desired skills for a true point guard and is a bit undersized to defend shooting guards. He needs to improve his fundamentals and play with more effort on the defensive end of the floor. His inconsistent mechanics on his jumper make him a below average outside shooter, he’ll need to work on extending his range to the pro three-point line.
