Made something that shows each team's history charted by season. You can hover over a bar for more details. Some of them are pretty interesting. The Mavs, Kings, and Spurs jumped out at me. History of TMBSL

Great stuff, you should get a job at Grantlan... whoops. eta: it would be interesting to do a "new GM" analysis, I know Heebs and I have a lot of gray bars following our takeovers.

Some trends I think are pretty cool:
Fason is the king of avoiding the Yawn zone. He's only had 2 seasons where the Sixers won between 30 and 45 games.
Only two teams in the league have never won 60 games: The Warriors and the Spurs. The Spurs were originally JHB's Thunder, but didn't top 60 under him either.
The most drastic improvement happened with the Nets last season, who went from 3 wins to 60 for a difference of +57. Next closest was the Grizz of 3003, who went from 8 wins to 64 for a difference of +56

That's why the Spurs history doesn't start until the 30-teens. But I was curious if the Thunder under JHB had hit 60 since technically that team's history is what the Spurs share. The Bobcats also haven't hit 60, but did so under the Pistons name.

Yeah I separated it by team name so GMs could see their history a little easier in most cases. The Thunder being the one exception that blends two GMs. Spurs, Mavs, Bobcats, Kings, Pistons, Pelicans are cleaner this way.

from what I can tell, the Magic of all the fucking teams are the only ones to win 70+ games in a season

from what I can tell, the Magic of all the fucking teams are the only ones to win 70+ games in a season They had prime Magic Johnson during the anything goes era for DCs. Also, teams were more aggressive with tanking back then so there wasn't the potential for many cheap losses.

Nets also blend two GMs. Was talking about franchises that have changed team name. There are plenty of teams that do it in your situation (Lakers, Hawks, Knicks, Sonics, Hornets, Cavs, Pacers, Wolves, Nuggets, almost everyone).
