Good afternoon sim GMs and welcome to a long Labor Day weekend! Due to overwhelming reader requests, we're bringing back our draft big board.
This year's draft is very deep, with quality scoring wings and nice looking bigs aplenty. If there is one thing lacking, it's the PG position.
Without further ado, we bring you the Cuban Report's objective, authoritative, world-class draft big board!
Bradley Beal
19
SG
6'5
207
Florida
B- B- C B- C+ A
Beal tops the Cuban Report’s big board this year. The scouting report by noted Gator fan, Fason, is outstanding. With his grades, scouting report, and a dream-teen TC possibility, Beal could be the next Jesus.
Damian Lillard
22
PG
6'3
195
Weber State
B- B B C+ C B
Point guard is the premier position in TMBSL and Lillard is the best in this class. Good size, solid rebounder, good handles, and an efficient scorer at PG that looks for his own shot. Lillard could go anywhere in the top 5, but we’ve got him penciled in here at 2.
Anthony Davis
19
PF/C
6'10
253
Kentucky
B C C A- B A
The Brow will be picked in the top 3. It’s just a matter of whether he is #2 or #3. His defense, age, and potential are too much to overlook. If the GM that drafts him can put +16 points into his strength, he will be an outstanding big man.
Harrison Barnes
20
SF
6'8
210
North Carolina
B B- C- B- C A
The Iowa native is a high-risk, high-reward type player here. The scouting report has some deficiencies (rebounding, defense), but his offense, potential, size, and SG potential is too much to overlook. Wings win championships, and Barnes should help a contender win a title or two in the future.
Andre Drummond
19
C
6'11
270
Connecticut
B+ D- D B B A
If not for his atrocious jumper, Andre would be a top 3 pick ahead of Davis. Physical attributes, including strength, are hard to come by in sim league. But so is jumper, which means Drummond will need a +16 into his jumper at the very least.
Dion Waiters
21
SG
6'4
225
Syracuse
B- B- C+ C+ C- A
After the top 5, things start to get interesting. We’re going to put the former Cav, Dion Waiters, at the top. It helps that he is a great scorer with PG perhaps in his future. His A shown potential helps a lot, too.
Draymond Green
22
PF
6'7
230
Michigan State
B- C+ C+ B B B
A lightening rod in the NBA, Green could be a tremendous bust if 20s doesn’t want a known cheap shot artist to be a sim league great. That said, those starting grades are amazing. We expect he will be at least +1 at SF.
Terrence Ross
21
SF/SG
6'7
195
Washington
B- B- C- C+ C+ A
There are a lot of elite scoring grades in this draft. Teams looking to add scoring wings will be in luck. The next scorer on our list is Terrence Ross. A +16 to his strength and Ross may be a late lotto gem in this draft.
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist
19
SF
6'7
232
Kentucky
B- C C B+ C+ A
If you’re looking for a defensive specialist, look no further than MKG. With a teen dream TC and some upgrades to his offensive attributes, he could be an absolute stud. He’ll likely start a little slow, so the team that drafts him shouldn’t lose hope too early.
Moe Harkless
19
SF
6'9
215
St. John's
B- C C- B B- A
Moe and MKG are very similar players. We expect MKG to have the better career because we anticipate his physical (slow growing) attributes will be higher. That said, Harkless likely will provide a more immediate impact for the lucky team that drafts him.
John Henson
22
PF/C
6'11
229
North Carolina
B- D D B+ B B
Henson’s skinny ass can play some defense and rebound, the two most important skills for a big. If he can develop an inside game, he’ll be a nice player. The GM that drafts Henson will need to upgrade his inside, his jumper, and his strength. There might not be enough camps to get him all the points he needs.
Meyers Leonard
20
PF/C
7'1
245
Illinois
B- C+ D B- B- A
With a B or B+ inside grade, Leonard would be a much better prospect. That said, he’ll block shots, has good potential, and could go +1 or +2 at inside in his first TC. If that happens, he’ll be a 10+ year starter in TMBSL.
Jae Crowder
22
SF/PF
6'6
235
Marquette
B- C+ C- B B- B
Crowder is our non-profile sleeper pick of this draft. He will obviously be a SF in the league, and we think he’s got a very high floor with those grades. With a nice hidden potential and build, he could be Georgeous.
