Strengths:
West is a savvy player that gets the most out of his athletic ability. A very good offensive talent that should make his living with his ability to score from mid-range. He has a consistent mid-range jumper which allows him to float out of the post and knock down open looks from out to 18 feet. His back to the basket game is good, but not spectacular. He can finish over either shoulder and has a nice turnaround jump shot. He takes contact well inside and should get to the free throw line at a good clip. On defense, he blocks quite a few shots for a player that isn’t an explosive leaper, mostly thanks to his timing and length. West’s high basketball IQ helps him to be one of the best rebounders in this class.
Weaknesses:
Not an explosive leaper which makes him an average finisher at the rim. He uses his strength to his advantage, but lacks the athleticism and size to be a lock down defender. Stayed at Xavier for four years so he may be close to or at his ceiling.
