Strengths:
7-footer with a unique skill set and huge frame that plays the game with energy. Maker is a competitive kid who despite lacking strength, does not shy away from contact and has the ability to keep possessions alive as a rebounder or cover space defensively. While he is not the most fundamentally sound rebounder, his motor will allow him to contribute d on the glass at both ends of the floor. With solid length and reach, Maker has the ability to effect shots around the basket, he’s a good weak side shot blocker and displays impressive timing for a teenager. On offense, he shows some signs of being able to stretch the floor, he can make shots off the catch and has range out to high school three-point line. Got to the free throw line at a high rate in high school and shot a good percentage. Maker has an impressive ability to handle the ball in open space, he’s a willing passer that has above average court vision.
Weaknesses:
He needs to get stronger, as he gets knocked off balance easily, and has a lot of trouble establishing himself in the post. His post defense will likely be an issue early on, he often has lapses as far as defensive awareness. He’s used to playing out on the perimeter so he still lacks a real low post repertoire. There are questions about his real age and true potential.
