Strengths:
Great size for a wing with a long wing span. Tatum is a smooth athlete that loves to get out and run. He’s highly advanced from midrange for a player his age. His size helps him to get to his spots and shoot over smaller defenders. He can get off his jumper at will and is a crafty finisher inside. Tatum has the athletic ability and instincts to be an impact defender. He should be decent when it comes to getting steals and blocking some shots. He can cover ground quickly off the ball to play passing lanes and use his reach to contest shots. He uses his athletic tools and instincts well when rebounding. Tatum has a high floor due to his athletic tools and skill level.
Weaknesses:
Tatum has great potential as a shooter, but lacks confidence when shooting beyond the arc. He’ll often decline open threes for tough twos. Average quickness, doesn’t always turn the corner against the more athletic wings. He’s inconsistent on defense, he can get caught sleeping off the ball and lose shooters or will reach instead of trying to deny penetration.
