All draft positions are based on current standings and win/loss record.
1. Tim Duncan PF/C 6'11'' 250 22 A- C- C A- A B
With the retirement of Kyrie Irving and the off-season trade of Jesus to the Sonics, the AARP Bullets are finally rebuilding after more than a decade of sustained playoff runs. Kn88 has always built the Bullets by hitting on top tier draft picks, and with a long rebuilding project ahead of them, Tim Duncan is the safest pick at #1. Normally big men aren't valued as much as wings or point guards at the top of draft boards; however, Tim Duncan is perhaps the most sim league ready player ever at the PF/C position. Duncan should be an instant impact player from day 1 and should allow the Blanks to still tank for several more seasons by virtue not being a point guard.
2. Tracy McGrady SF 6'8'' 210 19 B+ B- C+ C+ C+ A
Another season of #boydtank, another top pick at wing. Tracy McGrady has long be an irl favorite of mine and was a sim legend with the Timberwolves in 2.0. Despite having more pressing needs in the point guard position, Tracy McGrady is the better prospect and holds higher trade value even though the Lakers already have 2 potential future stars in Tatum and Ingram, the allure of T-Mac would be hard to pass up. Should the Lakers end up with the #2 pick, expect Tmac to be taken and the hole at point guard be addressed in a trade or in a future draft with another season of #boydtank.
3. Chauncey Billups PG 6'3'' 202 21 C+ B C+ B C A
Now several seasons into a full rebuild of their own, the Raptors have stockpiled a cache of back court and wing talent in the likes of Josh Hart, Jamaal Murray and Miles Bridges whom remains stashed overseas and will be due to return to Canada next year. Unfortunately for the Raptors, the first pick of their full rebuild, Markelle Fultz has thus far looked more like TJ Ford than his #2 pick counterpart Lonzo Ball; which played in no small part in how the Raptors have been in a position to land these top picks. Though it might still be too early for divorce papers, the Raptors should at least take into consideration that Fultz might not be the answer, which is where Chauncey Billups comes in. At 6'3'' with B outside and defense as well as C rebounding, Billups is the top PG prospect in the draft and would be at no worst a valuable trade piece should Fultz be able to correct his TO issues.
4. William Gates PG 6'0'' 195 21 B- B C+ C+ C- A
After several seasons of purgatory, the Bobcats have finally taken the plunge into the deep end of the roster blowup decision and traded for their own picks back. Having bemoaned other teams passing on Kris Dunn in the previous draft, Odin could be in a prime position to pick up his future franchise PG in the first year of the tank in William Gates. Having the rare B- B scoring grades normally reserved for elite outside shooting wing prospects, Bill has the potential to become best player in the loaded 3045 draft and would be a prime candidate to win rookie of the year on the barren Bobcats roster.
5. Keith Van Horn SF/PF 6'10'' 220 22 B B D+ C+ B B
Having struck out in free agency the past few seasons and JUST missing out on landing the top prospects, the Nuggets are in the precarious position of having their rebuild go south in a hurry as they head into the dreaded purgatory of long period rebuilding teams becoming too good to tank and not good enough to compete. With the tank now in the 4th season and only Harry Giles, Jaylen Brown and a turnover machine in TJ Ford to show for it, Gm dirt needs to nail this pick lest he wants to blow up the roster again for a clean slate tank. Keith Van Horn could potentially be the answer for the Nuggets' woes; possessing B B scoring and SF eligibility, Van Horn has a good chance to lead all rookies in scoring. With a few upgrades in shot blocking and strength, KVH could become one of the league's premier wings.
6. Ron Mercer SG 6'7'' 210 21 B B- C C+ C A
Now a full season into the canes' era, the Heat are still in the midst of a rebuild, but one that now has light at the end of the tunnel. Having been gifted De'Aaron Fox via a bankz pick and Ben Simmons via a commissioner auto, canes can put his own signature on the team with the selection of a running mate for Fox and Simmons. Ron Mercer is the best SG eligible player in the draft not named Tracy McGrady and should be a no brainer pick to pair with Simmons not having guard eligibility and Fox manning the point.
7. Antonio Daniels PG 6'4'' 195 22 B- B- B B- D+ B
The biggest areas of concern for Vancouver heading into 3045 are defense (aka shot blocking bigs) and point guard play. At this point in the draft, teams are entering picking for needs as opposed to taking the best available. With Dejounte Murray not showing much signs of life yet, Antonio Daniels gives the Grizz another point guard to either bolster depth or replace Murray as the future starter. This doesn't solve the Grizzlies' dire need for shot blocking, but as we've learned from the now annual minimum salary signings of 5 bigs to New York, d/r bigs can easily be found in the off season via free agency.
8. Tim Thomas SF/PF 6'10'' 230 20 B- B- C B- C+ A
The Suns are entering a rebuilding phase after many years with the high scoring tandem of Fat Lever and Harold Miner entertaining the fans but ultimately failing short of title contention. With Harold Miner now getting a bit long in the tooth and likely heading elsewhere in a trade in the near future, the new look Suns featuring Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk need a running mate for the Ukrainian sensastion. At 6'10'', Tim Thomas is a better fit as a SF for Svi than having either Miner or Svi play the role of an undersized small forward and could be as good of a selection as any at the latter portion of the top 10 in the draft.
9. Mikki Moore PF/C 6'11'' 225 22 C+ C- D B+ B- B
To be perfectly honest, Mikki Moore's inclusion in the top 10 is due solely to the #Nebrasketball bias we assume the commissioner might have as well as Mikki's storied 2.0 Finals MVP background. Should Creighton hater GM dumptime be in a position to draft Mikki Moore, I have no doubts that is the direction the Celtics will go to shore up their front court seeing as how Domantas Sabonis blocked shots are about as rare as Buddy Hield summit league 3s.
10. Stephen Jackson SF 6'8'' 218 19 B- C+ C+ C+ C A
Among the tanking teams of the past several seasons, the Spurs are the only franchise to have landed a marquee free agent in the off season to speed up their rebuild. Many feel the Spurs already have enough talent to challenge at least for a playoff spot this season, but Gm Bruns had decided that the team needed 1 more top 10 pick to bolster their depth before shifting gears to winning mode. Lonzo Ball and Marvin Williams are as good of a young tandem as any in the league while the Spurs young front court of Thon Maker, Jarrett Allen and Kendrick Perkins can more than hold their own. The only glaring weakness is at the shooting guard position, which makes Stephen Jackson the perfect fit at 10. At 19 years old, Captain Jack is likely the only lottery rookie that can still grow in height outside of Tmac. With SG eligibility and an extra inche, Jackson would turn the Spurs into perhaps the tallest starting lineup in the league playing alongside a 6'6'' PG, 6'10'' SF and 7 footers in the front court.
11. Adonal Foyle C 6'10'' 250 22 B- D D- A- B+ B
Orlando is one of the unfortunate teams that are currently mired in purgatory paying entirely way too much money to decent/good players earning undeserved max contracts. Shaq remains one of the most dominant big man in the league, but at 33 years old and earning over 21 million per season, is only hurting the Magic franchise from being able to fully commit to a rebuild. With CP3's 7 year contract also likely not getting moved, the Magic can only address minor team needs with the 11th pick and hope for playoff contention during Shaq's remaining prime years. An area of concern Orlando can address is the lack of shot blocking outside of O'Neal, which Adonal Foyle should be able to help alleviate in.
12. (From Sonics) Kelvin Cato PF/C 6'11'' 255 23 C+ D D- A- B- B
Should the voodoo magic of the Raptors' so called "Sonics doll" work and Seattle end up outside the playoffs, Gm pete can use his 2nd pick in the lottery to take a d/r big man in Kelvin Cato. With A- defense, Cato before stepping into a single TC with 0 upgrades is already a better interior defender by a full letter grade than any of Toronto's bigs currently. At C+ D scoring, Kelvin shouldn't be much of a volume shooter and with a bit of upgrading in rebounding will be at least a valuable rotation big man in a future contender.
13. Arthur Gee PG 6'2'' 180 20 C+ C+ B B- C- B
The last pick of the lottery goes towards the front court loaded Indiana Pacers, whom in the age of wing dominated playoff teams has the rare combination of 2 legitimate 2 way big men in Patrick Ewing and Andrew Bynum. Should the Pacers decide to fully embrace the throw-back nature of their roster, a floor general like Arthur Gee makes a lot of sense as the pick at 13th as Johnny Cox has proven that despite his league leading assist numbers, could still be very careless with turnovers. Arthur wouldn't need to do much scoring on the Pacers with a Very Slow / Inside offense, but cutting down the turnovers of their starting PG from 3 and a half a game to under 2 would go a long way towards the Pacers contending for the very weak Central division.
