Putting up the end of season update now because I won't have time to tomorrow or Thursday.
1. Keith Van Horn
-Like Eric's most recent ladder said, KVH has the potential to be a hall of famer. He'll be ridiculous as his blocks and rebounding improve.
2. Chauncey Billups
-As I said in my last rankings of rookies, he's a Gilbert Arenas clone. I didn't put Billups #1 because we have more good-great PGs than SFs right now.
3. Tim Duncan
-His shooting percentage has improved a little bit since the last update. He'll be an elite big for the next 12 seasons.
4. Tracy McGrady
-McGrady's play dropped off as the season went on, but I'm still very high on his future. I still think he'll end up being incredible unless he had one of those nightmare teen TCs.
5. William Gates
-Offense is there, but he needs a lot of work on his defense and rebounding. His ceiling is probably as a second tier Delaney Rudd type of PG.
1. Larry Bird
-Had a historically great offensive season while averaging 10 rebounds, 2 steals and a block.
2. Gilbert Arenas
-Gilbert would have been my MVP had he not fractured his skull to miss the last quarter of the season. 35 PPG on 49.3% shooting is insane.
3. Rashard Lewis
-His PPG is a bit juiced due to his teammates, but he had an incredible year for the best team in the league.
4. Lebron James
-I feel bad putting him at 4 after having such a great year, but the three players above him had so much more team success and bigger impact within the league.
5. Damian Lillard
-Is now the second best PG in the league. His numbers are close to Gilbert's.
1. Rockets
-That Paul trade makes them the clear favorite, if they weren't already before. Team doesn't really have any flaws and is well built, hard to imagine them not making the finals if they stay healthy.
2. Jazz
-The Jazz actually have a higher point differential than the Rockets. If they meet in the conference finals the series will probably come down to how Benjamin and West shoot.
3. Sixers
-I'm hoping it's not a repeat of the last three years and that I can avoid the Nets who knocked me out the last two.
4. Nets
-They always have postseason success, and I don't anybody would be surprised if they made the finals for I think the third time in four seasons. Lue is always great in the playoffs.
5. Grizzlies
-I don't think this team is ready to compete with the Jazz and Rockets yet, but they could give them a scare. Conference finals is probably their ceiling.
*The Arenas injury is what kept the Raptors out of the top 5. Fultz can't come close to consistently matching Arenas' production yet. They could still make the ECFs.
1. Yao
-Grades and size make Yao top pick, I don't think he'll be nearly as good as Tim Duncan, but I do think Yao will become a Benoit Benjamin type of center.
2. Salado Valarado
-Probably the safest pick in the draft. 20s will do all he can to make Soup's creation very good.
3. Caron Butler
-I expect him to be a Danny Granger/Shane Battier type of wing. He'll probably need points put into his shot blocking to be a top tier wing.
4. Jay Williams
-Has very good grades and was the top irl PG prospect in that draft. His future will depend on how 20s decides to split his Jumper/Threes, Williams had a terrible FT% in college.
5. Fred Dilworth
-Potential will scare teams away, he'll probably go +1 POT after TC and whoever drafts him will be very happy. Borat started with D potential and was great for the first 6-7 years of his career.
6. Tayshaun Prince
-Unless he has terrible strength and inside scoring he should always have value with his defense and rebounding. Maybe he becomes an MKG type of wing.
7. Phil Ford 2.0
-I expect 20s to just recycles his first build and I hope whoever drafts Ford 2.0 gives him some points early on.
8. Amar'e Stoudamire
-His inside and jumper will probably start maxed out, whoever drafts him should plan to put points into his shot blocking and strength right away. With how shot blocking/rebounding grow for bigs, he could end up one of the best in the league.
9. Nikoloz Tskitishvili
-Boom or bust pick, whoever draft him should be patient because he'll probably start with close to 100 potential.
10. One of the And 1 Guys
-One of the And 1 guys will be a stud, my money is on the Professor because he's white. @heavyreign
Top 5 teams that should be active this offseason
1. Spurs
-This is the Spurs 4th season tanking, Bruns has some good looking young players that he can build around or use in trades to put vets around Lonzo Ball.
2. TWolves
-Yea this probably won't happen.
3. Kings
-Assuming he resigns Lebron, Lebron needs some help. The current Kings squad looks too much like the irl Cavs from 03-10.
4. Lakers
-Ian has all of his firsts, and shouldn't hang around in the middle waiting for his young players to become superstars. Feels like it's time to try and take advantage of Billups and Tatum being on cheap rookie deals.
5. Nets
-This isn't really a recommendation, but more of a prediction. Heebs has 7 future firsts that are not his own, 2 of those will be lotto picks in this current draft. It's been too long since he made a big move as a buyer.
