Doing the Rookie Ladder was boring so I decided to power rankings on multiple topics. I plan to update this every 30-40 sim days. I may add or get rid of certain topics as the season goes on.
Top 5 Rookies (Based on a combo of production and who I like the most long term)
1. Tim Duncan
-His presseason stats were amazing. Outside of the 2.2 TOs he looks almost perfect. His scoring volume may be inflated due to his teammates and it looks like the Bullets were using an inside offense.
2. Tracy McGrady
-TMac looks great for a teenager. That blocked shot he averaged in 19.5 MPG is a really good sign for his potential on defense. I'm not sure though if he's ready to start for a title contending team, he could be a liability.
3. Chauncey Billups
-He put up good numbers while playing SG. He averaged 1.6 TOs, so that means he'll probably average 3-3.5 at PG during the season. He looks like a future max player to me.
4. Tim Thomas
-He put up good numbers in just 21 MPG, I highly doubt he shoots close to 50% during the season, but he's already shown he's not worthless on defense with his blocks/rebounds/steals. Hopefully he isn't this season's Jaylen Brown.
5. Keith Van Horn
-Looks like he has a lot of potential as a scorer, he went to the free throw line at a high and shot 93%. His 3P% was below .300 but with how that grows during TC he should be able to get to at least 40%. Odin (if KVH remains a Bobcat) can devote his upgrades to shot blocking and rebounding.
1. Tyronn Lue
-My top pick for MVP even though the software played him just 13 MPG. These are my power rankings and I can do what I want with the best player in the league.
2. Lebron James
-Is he finally ready to finally become one of the best players in the league? He averaged 30.9 PPG on 49.8% shooting, 9 rebounds, 5.8 assists, 1.5 steals and 2 blocks.
3. Gilbert Arenas
-Gil still put up 30 with the software playing him at SG. He'll probably lead the Raptors from worst to near first in the Central.
4. Larry Bird
-Averaged 27 points, 13 rebounds and 1.7 blocks. Will gain a lot of ground on Stanley Robinson as the greatest SF ever if he leads another team to repeating.
5. Butch Lee
-Have to give him respect for consistently averaging 30 a game and leading the Knicks to one of the best records in the league.
Top 5 Contenders in the East
1. Charlotte Hornets
-Team has made the ECFs two straight seasons and Fecta has one of the best perimeter trios in the league. My only critique of this team would be they could use more shot blocking and rebounding to be dominant.
2. Philadelphia 76ers
-Team should win 60 games again, but roster construction could hold the team back in the playoffs. I'd like to change my roster around, send me some decent offers please.
3. New York Knicks
-Lee/Jackson can carry them to 50 wins. How Ryan Gomes and MKG shoot will determine whether they will be a serious contender. All those minimum salaried bigs are disgusting. eric , you shouldn't be able to win 50-55 games with that trash, please get back to work on figuring out the new software.
4. Toronto Raptors
-Great offseason for the Raptors, they could go from 11 wins to 60 wins. Pete needs to find some more blocks and rebounding to be a title favorite, he's got plenty of ammo to improve his team.
5. New Jersey Nets
-I've got them fifth due to how their roster stands right now. I'm sure Heebs will make a big move to add another piece for a title run. He's got that Clippers pick this year to use for a star.
Top 5 Contenders in the West
1. Utah Jazz
-Loren Woods and Markieff Eaton look to be the only losses from last year's team, but their blocks and rebounds are replaceable. I don't think Dunn is ready to be a starter on a title favorite, if Spl trades Henderson his team will take a step back. Spl for the love of god please cut down on the sandbagging, your team is really good.
2. Houston Rockets
-Baylor was big pickup and they have a really good starting five, a lot will depend on if Sleepy Floyd can match his numbers from last year. He didn't play very well at SG during the preseason. Ward is always active with trades so I expect him to find a PG if Sleepy struggles.
3. Kansas City Kings
-This team should be one of the best defensive teams in the league again. Like the Rockets, it will depend on how their aging point guard plays. Deane is now 35 and his production dropped in the preseason. If Deane has regressed, I'm not sure Monk is ready to be the starting point guard for a contender.
4. Seattle SuperSonics
-Somebody had to be 4.
5. Golden State Warriors
-And somebody had to be 5.
Top 5 Tankers
1. Washington Bullets
-Kn has the worst perimeter players in the league. Bigs won't single handedly win games for tankers so no need to worry about Duncan hurting the tank.
2. Memphis Bobcats
-Odin tinkers with trades so much during the season that I think it will keep him from having the worst record.
3. Phoenix Suns
-I'd have them as the worst team if not for the amazing combo of Zarko and Svi.
4. Denver Nuggets
-Team has a bunch of lotto picks that have underachieved. They may not be too bad if Daniels is any good.
5. Portland Trailblazers
-Majic's roster is trash but he doesn't have the tanking players yet to have one of the three worst records in the league.
