1. Bobcats - Yao Ming B+ C C- B B A
Odin isn't ready to compete yet and has a change to add a difference maker at the non-PG spot. No brainer pick IMO.
2. Trailblazers - Jay Williams B- B- B- B- C- A
In search of his Arenas replacement, Majic takes a chance at Jay Williams. Williams's scouting report has some red flags. One is serious, the other not so much. Williams is supposed to be a little careless with the ball. That'll fix itself through TC. The bigger concern is his jump shot. That will require some serious help and likely will never be elite.
3. Heat - Salado Valarado III B+ C- C- B B B
Canes doesn't need a PG here, so Ford is likely not the pick. He could use a wing like Butler to go with Simmons, but we think he goes with the safest pick at a position of need. We've not seen what software players are in this draft yet, so he could go in that direction too.
4. Nuggets - Caron Butler B B- C B- B- B
Dirt has needs at nearly every position and he'll strike gold with Caron who appears to be a complete wing. He'll need to develop a 3-pt shot, but that should come with TCs at the SF position.
5. Suns - Nikoloz Tskitishvili B- C+ C- C+ B- A
Phil Ford is the best player available here, so I'd be shocked if Ank doesn't trade this pick to a team in need of a PG. That said, if he did have to pick here, I think he goes with the 7'0" SF from Georgia.
6. Thunder - Phil Ford C+ B B B- D+ B
Bobby Jackson is not the long term solution at point guard for the Thunder. Phil Ford is a steal here at 1.6. He has no big hole in his game and his floor is as a quality starter and his ceiling is MVP.
7. Bullets - Dajuan Wagner B- B- C+ C+ D+ A
I think the best pick here is a wing in either Prince or Dunlevy, but kn is picking at 1.7 and Wagner reminds me a lot of a young Bledsoe. It's fate that he picks his next star PG with this pick.
8. Spurs - Tayshaun Prince B- B- C B C+ B
Bruns could go Amar'e here, but he's got a nice looking front court and could use a wing. Tayshaun looks like a nice two-way wing. He'll likely not score with volume, but his good jumper bodes well for his development.
9. Magic - Amar'e Stoudemire B+ C D+ C+ B- A
Amar'e drops in the mock draft like he did in the Sperry Summit draft. He very well could go top 4 to a GM that is convinced his high potential will pay off. There are some red flags in his draft profile. His developing 3 pt shot means his jumper won't be that good and because he is not SF eligible he won't ever actually develop a 3-pt shot. It just means he'll shoot a few threes at a bad percentage. See, e.g., every other big with C or C+ outside. Also, his poor rebounding is a little bit of a bummer. It could be fixed with some TCs though.
10. Nets (from Clippers) - Mike Dunleavy B- B- C+ B- C+ B
Will go -1 inside, -1 rebounding, and -1 potential in his first TC. I'll move him to SG and he'll never develop a 3 pt shot. It is written.
11. Nets (from Bucks) - Fred Dilworth B- B C+ B- C+ D
The face of the franchise, and what a face it will be! The Nets desperately need wing help and Dilworth will provide it. He likely will come into the league near his ceiling, but that's a good thing for a team like the Nets that are in a win-now situation with positional need.
12. Thunder (from Cavaliers) - Nene Hilario B D+ D+ B- B- A
He will need some TC love with inside scoring, jumper, and shot blocking. Those will almost certainly be his RC/SCs as well. If he can develop into a .440 type scorer that blocks 3 shots per game, which we think he could do, he'll be a steal here at 1.12. He's definitely a project player though.
13. Thunder (from Bulls) - Chris Wilcox B D+ D+ B- B A
Big boom or bust potential with Chris Wilcox. We love his draft profile write up, but he doesn't have the name recognition or the Nebraska ties to have a pro-growth build. His starting athleticism and shot blocking are assets though. Like Nene, he'll need some help at inside scoring and jump shot. With some luck and well-chosen RC/SCs, Wilcox could be a very nice big for GBG.
