preseason and summer leagueThis is looking like it's going to be a pretty wild year. Right now we've got bigs lighting it up left and right and we all know most of 'em are gonna come back to the pack, but which ones? Which ones?? . 1. Salado Valarado IIISoup's triumphant return to sim league doesn't quite live up to GM Soup's triumphant return to sim league, but he's looking very Young Ewing so he should be fine. Like every big his summer league scoring numbers were spectacular, preseason scoring is good but once it This Time It Counts bigs tend to wilt and he doesn't have a lot of wiggle room there. With elite size and very good d/r, he's sure to have a long career in sim league. Some solid TCs and he'll be a HoFer. . 2. Phil Ford 2.0 Phil's handles are modest, his defense is poor, and his rebounding is comical, but man can he fill it up, and this game has always been and will always be about BUCKETS. Three point ratio thinks his 3P% will come down just a hair and he'll still be elite. . 3. Yao MingFor those that don't know, height depresses block totals because #heavyreign. With that said, six inches only knocks you back about .15 blocks per 36, so Yao being in the low twos is a real concern, a concern only further heightened by his alarmingly modest blocking performance in summer league. His scoring and rebounding are a tier ahead of SalVal so all he really needs is natural growth in TC, but I would still sink some blocking camps into him pronto. . 4. Amar'e StoudemireAmar'e's scoring was truly outrageous in summer league and he kept up super elite numbers in preseason, and boy is he gonna need them because he compounds the low blocks with low rebounds. He has too far to go in both to ever end up in the HoF, but if he gets really lucky and a lot of investment he could be a legit championship starter down the road. . 5. Scoonie Sharman A scoftware shpecial, Scoonie does one thing and one thing only: get buckets. He's decent at everything else with a little handling problem and should clearly play SG long term, and if the scoring dips to merely "good" he'll be just another guy. . 6. Fred Dilworth By far the second best GM as player in this draft, Fred's %s look ugly but three point ratio loves him. His volume is low in both leagues and he doesn't give you much else, but "reasonably efficient scorer" might be the best we can hope for on these bottom rungs. . 7. Carlos Boozer To the surprise of absolutely no one the 6'9" Boozer's defense is unplayably bad, and he's not SF eligible so he'll never be good. If his rebounding grows to elite levels and he keeps scoring at this rate he might be an interesting third big in an inside focused offense. . 8. Frank Willliams If kn88 was hoping Frank would just take Ls he's got another thing coming. With his average to middling scoring, decent rebounding, and okay handles he could easily win you a game or two over the course of his career. He needs growth everywhere, but he doesn't have any catastrophic weaknesses. . 9. Melvin ElyWas sensational in summer league and a d/r guy in preseason. I think he'll be a d/r guy, and a decent but not great one. . 10. xX Escalade XxThe big fella is scoring like a Cadillac but defending like a Prius. Probably won't keep it up on offense so he needs to shape up on defense pronto, I've got a lot of car puns I want to work in this year.

day 30Year is just as wild as expected. Only three guys stayed up from last update. wow . 1. Salado Valarado III- LR #1Already a very good player: good shot blocking, decent rebounding, elite scoring, sublime handles. TC alone should bring him up to very good and good respectively at least, then he'll be elite. . 2. Fred Dilworth - LR #6Ratio still loves him, still not giving you a ton else. The difference from preseason is that ratio projects him as an elite scorer rather than merely league average. Splitting the difference he'll probably be a very good scorer, and while he's not strong anywhere else he's not weak either. Floor is a quality glue guy, third wing type. Okay TC luck and he'll be a legit starter, need great TC luck to be elite though. . 3. Ryan Humphrey- LR unrankedHumpty Hump always had excellent shot blocking, even taking his 6'8" height into consideration. His rebounding was a question mark and the answer is "not great, bob," but the efficiency is high enough to suggest he'll end up at league average given his poor preseason figure. Average TC growth should get him up to average rebounding, and he'll have the makings of a quality two way big. I'd give him the MLE. . 4. Caron Butler - LR unrankedHe's small and he doesn't give you the d/r, but he's SG eligible and his scoring is incandescent after a middling pre/sum. The ratio says his 3P% is gonna come down but even with that he'll have elite pts/tsa. He doesn't give you anything else so he'll need it to stick, but he's got it for now. . 5. Yao Ming- LR #3The %s are grim. The shot blocking is far too low. But he's got handles and he's 7'6", so he's still got great potential. We expect his efficiency to come up at least a little over the course of the year, but threatening 1+ pts/tsa seems a reach at this point. . 6. The Professor - LR unrankedTenure track don't play in the summer. Ratio has him at league average scoring, that and the sublime handles are what have him here. I honestly expected him to have an F rebounding grade - less than two per 36 is a joke. Undersized on top of it. The slightest dip in scoring will probably cost him his spot. . 7. Jason Williams - LR unrankedRatio projects him as average efficiency, he's got good handles, he rebounds a little. It's not much, but the longer he keeps it up after a weak preseason the higher he can go. . 8. Rasual Butler - LR unrankedHe's putting up great efficiency but his volume is very low, and without preseason numbers to back it up it's hard to take the numbers too seriously. He's SG eligible which is pretty critical given his 6'7" height and modest d/r. . 9. Marcus Haislip - LR unrankedSame. 6'10" but only SF eligible. . 10. Hot Sauce - LR unrankedWas horrible across the board before the season. Efficiency looks great now, though a low volume PG who doesn't take threes adds a ton of salt to this sauce. #cooking

day 60Quick note. I decided to go away from three point ratio because the offense-to-offense variations were too high for it to be reliable without me going through every DC and seeing who's played what offense and for how long. Not gonna be able to do it. Instead, I'm going to use the very reliable jump shot regression and a player's listed grade to peg a max and min three shot attribute and split the difference for my expected pts/tsa. . 1. Salado Valarado III- LR #1#1 with a bullet and a power pack, which hardly seems sporting, but fool me once and you don't mess with Texas. . 2. Caron Butler - LR #4His 3P% has come down and probably will continue to do so, but the scoring still looks very very good. Add in KVH and we're gonna have to start calling 'em the Bobpegasi. Get it because they're a cat with two wings. You get it? He doesn't get it. . 3. Rasual Butler - LR #8The Butler from another Mother's still getting it done. Jimmy might have to settle for third when all's said and done. . 4. Fred Dilworth - LR #2The change from ratio to grade regression hasn't hurt Fred too much, the spreadsheet still thinks he should be an average scorer. The class is pretty shallow, what can I say. . 5. Yao Ming- LR #5He's bounced back in a big way scoring wise, and the blocks are creeping up too. Could easily end up #3 by year end, but Caron looks tuff enuff to keep the prestigious silver ladder rung. . 6. Marcus Haislip - LR #9The scoring is- hey! slipping, but he's giving you enough defense to stay this high. . 7. Ryan Humphrey- LR #3He's got very nice d/r numbers, but he shoots way too much. These are the breaks. . 8. Jason Williams - LR #7We're still scrounging for these spots. He's a mediocre scorer, his ast:tov is okay. I'm not a miracle worker. . 9. Hot Sauce - LR #10He's probably not a good scorer, but he's got good handles, and his efficiency is close enough to good to take The Professor's spot... for now. . 10. xX Escalade Xx- LR #xBack up the Brinks truck for this guy, he's a lock to be a 20/10 guy with good efficiency. BB King didn't know how to play a guitar chord, that's what he paid scrubs to do; XX Escalade will do the same for guys to play defense.

day 90 or maybe 85 for some of these guys . 1. Dajuan Wagner - LR unrankedPSYCH!!! . 1. Salado Valarado III- LR #1He's the best. . 2. Caron Butler - LR #2He's really good too. Bobcats have their wing rotation of the future on lock. . 3. Rasual Butler - LR #3Keeping up the efficiency and the comically low volume. . 4. Yao Ming- LR #5Blocks are coming up in a big way, scoring is only good for a big man but that's still good. . 5. Juan Carlos Navarro - LR unrankedAlright, some new blood! JC Superstar has Ian's favorite inside scoring grade and whether he's good will come down to if his 48% is real or if his preseason 42% was - the handling, rebounding, and defense are meh. Either way he has excellent jump shot so he should have a long career as a backup regardless. . 6. Dan Dickau - LR unrankedDan Tricky Dick Ow projects as even more efficient than The Guns of Navarro but his skipping preseason and low scoring volume make me more suspicious. His ancillary stats are better but he's three inches shorter . 7. xX Escalade Xx- LR #10xX Esca "Beep Beep He Is A Car" Lade Xx Yes The Whole Thing Yes Every Time scores even better than Soup, but unfortunately he blocks worse than noted terrible player Dajuan Wagner. Still, his blocking is high enough that with some dream TCs he could plausibly get into the mid twos, and with his offense that makes him an interesting two way player. I wouldn't even give him an MLE. . 8. Nikoloz Tskitishvili - LR unrankedNiko Suave is the reverse. Can't hit a bucket to save his life but his shot blocking listed on the DC as a small forward is incandescent. A 7'1" SF is tantalizing but his most likely outcome with his sub 10 pts/36 is playing as a d/r big. Which is fine! Nothing wrong with that. . 9. Ryan Humphrey- LR #7Humpty Humph still shoots way too much and way too poorly and is way too short, but he's got elite blocking. Slim pickings. . 10. The Professor - LR unrankedHe's got sublime handles and a quality jump shot. Two skills are good enough even to get on the ladder, he's bad everywhere else so he'll probably be off again next update. . stats pts/tsa blk/36 ast:tov reb/36 pts/36 JSH 3SH xp/t mp Player 1.030 3.02 2.11 11.87 20.21 75.53 15.47 1.030 2220 Salado Valarado III C 1.144 0.31 1.32 6.57 23.58 74.92 61.08 1.123 897 Caron Butler SF 1.142 0.21 0.67 6.78 9.74 88.74 47.26 1.118 629 Rasual Butler SF 0.990 2.59 1.63 11.14 24.00 87.29 3.71 0.990 2288 Yao Ming C 1.089 0.34 2.50 2.40 16.46 100.39 60.61 1.080 546 Juan Carlos Navarro PG 1.138 0.00 2.86 2.95 9.82 105.82 55.18 1.096 715 Dan Dickau PG 1.045 0.83 0.90 11.33 22.83 71.09 -2.09 1.046 1318 xX Escalade Xx C 0.855 2.21 0.50 9.25 9.45 92.32 43.68 0.938 376 Nikoloz Tskitishvili SF 0.833 4.19 1.25 11.59 14.05 45.16 10.84 0.833 511 Ryan Humphrey C 1.011 0.00 5.40 2.30 19.15 93.38 42.62 1.014 602 The Professor PG 1.255 0.00 #DIV/0! 4.41 16.90 57.72 68.28 1.300 39 A O PG 0.884 0.00 3.27 2.67 13.33 64.85 48.15 0.907 756 Allen Montana PG 0.980 1.71 1.00 9.68 21.30 90.92 0.08 0.980 1706 Amar'e Stoudemire C 0.914 1.23 0.40 9.41 9.00 70.95 55.05 0.765 53 Bostjon Nachbar SF 1.114 0.56 #DIV/0! 7.31 15.75 110.63 25.37 1.011 51 Casey Jacobsen SG 0.872 1.10 1.14 10.29 9.00 72.23 -16.23 0.872 745 Chris Wilcox C 1.002 0.86 2.58 3.31 18.61 80.97 65.03 1.000 1735 Dajuan Wagner PG 0.875 0.52 1.00 9.73 17.48 72.10 18.90 0.882 1858 Drew Gooden PF 0.697 0.55 3.00 2.77 7.75 110.63 2.37 0.804 72 Flip Murray SG 1.030 0.19 2.56 3.63 11.55 88.13 47.87 1.003 2451 Frank Willliams PG 0.983 0.55 2.20 7.15 15.11 77.22 58.78 1.038 838 Fred Dilworth SG 0.180 0.00 1.67 7.66 2.30 #DIV/0! #DIV/0! #DIV/0! 28 Fred Jones SG 0.894 0.20 3.54 3.13 9.20 77.35 13.65 0.915 1104 Hot Sauce PG 0.797 1.38 1.13 9.84 7.67 66.08 2.92 0.797 750 Jamal Sampson C 0.929 1.21 1.40 7.48 9.71 56.21 34.79 0.921 1086 Jared Jeffries SF 1.034 0.21 3.58 4.00 24.72 73.32 62.68 1.019 2176 Jason Williams PG 1.279 0.00 1.00 3.86 22.50 110.63 25.37 1.049 62 Jiri Welsch SF 1.017 0.78 1.25 7.77 12.69 74.35 38.65 1.015 431 John Salmons SG 0.876 0.28 1.75 6.47 13.50 82.62 43.38 0.901 691 Juan Dixon SG 1.135 2.53 1.17 13.89 15.16 72.54 -16.54 1.135 143 Julius Peppers PF 0.944 0.24 1.00 5.28 15.36 92.18 43.82 0.918 480 Kareem Rush SG 0.841 1.61 1.33 9.13 18.27 56.21 -0.21 0.841 228 Lonnie Baxter C 0.816 1.27 0.60 11.82 9.64 54.14 14.86 0.816 911 Luis Scola PF 1.008 0.71 0.73 6.89 12.24 82.14 8.86 1.001 1848 Marcus Haislip SF 0.400 5.54 #DIV/0! 19.38 5.54 #DIV/0! #DIV/0! 0.400 13 Melvin Ely C 0.936 0.24 3.00 8.00 13.18 71.56 64.44 0.922 811 Mike Dunleavy SF 0.823 1.44 1.00 10.08 12.42 54.69 14.31 0.823 980 Nenê Hilário C 0.842 1.83 0.90 11.80 11.39 32.04 23.96 0.842 956 Reggie Evans C 0.889 0.29 1.64 4.39 14.34 84.18 61.82 0.888 664 Roger Mason SG 0.991 0.00 1.00 10.91 10.91 110.63 -19.63 0.991 40 Sam Clancy PF 1.057 0.00 2.33 3.00 15.50 84.18 76.82 1.067 72 Scoonie Sharman SG 0.900 0.39 0.86 5.97 8.09 59.35 53.65 0.913 1122 Smush Parker SG 0.980 1.71 1.00 5.86 14.00 75.36 50.64 0.913 479 Tayshaun Prince SF 0.907 0.71 1.50 10.35 21.18 70.13 -1.13 0.907 719 Udonis Haslem PF
