If tanking any player taken in the lottery of the most recent draft must be listed in at least one 2nd string slot.

should we have one or two points in the season when we reassess whether these players should be starting or not? perhaps at 60 or 40 and 80?

That said, I'll follow whatever rules there are in place. This rule makes sense, but what happens after their rookie season? For instance, if this goes into effect next season, I would still be able to keep Phil Ford out of my depth chart.

This rule has been passed, effective immediately as there did not seem to be any opposition after a few days. To be clear, here is the wording I am using: If you are tanking*, any player taken in the lottery of the most recent draft must be listed in at least one 1st string or 2nd string slot on your Depth Chart.+
*For this rule, tanking is defined as being outside of the playoffs and owning your own 1st round draft pick for the upcoming draft.
+If you have drafted more than 2 players who are all only eligible for one position in the most recent lottery, you must list them in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd string slots to play as many as possible. If doing this violates another tanking rule of not starting your best player, it will be handled on a case by case basis by the commissioner. If you have made more than 10+ lottery picks in the most recent draft and are still tanking, you must list players in third strings slots to get as many on your DC as possible.Impacted GMs: Odin - Prince will need to be 1st or 2nd on at least one position on your DC. gbgalla24 - Ford 2.0 will need to be 1st or 2nd on at least one position on your DC. Peppers will need to be 1st or 2nd on at least one position on your DC. Boozer will need to be 1st or 2nd on at least one position on your DC.

proposal
-If you are outside the playoffs on day 25 or later, -any player taken in the lottery of the most recent draft ("lotto player") must be listed in at least one 1st string or 2nd string slot on your Depth Chart -unless those positions are already occupied by another lotto player, in which case they must be listed in at least one 1st, 2nd, or 3rd string slot for which they are eligible. -As many lotto players must be listed as possible. -This rule does not take precedence over the requirement for a tanking team to start its best players as determined by the commissioner.
removes the "own your own first" requirement because #brunsgate gives a three sim leeway to start the season so the playoff seedings can settle down

I think making this effective immediately is pretty messed up considering draft picks and free agency choices were made based on the the existing tanking rules. Especially, when we only have a couple days left in the current season.

That said, I don't even disagree with the rule itself, my problem wasn't with the rule it was with the implementation with three sims left in a season. I feel like any rule updates should be implemented fresh for a new season, not down the homestretch of the season.

no reason to have started it during a current season close to the end
