Welcome back to the Draft Big Board. This year I've made a few changes to The Formula^TM, which I will highlight below before I reveal the early results for the upcoming 3048 Draft Class.

As you know from last year's edition, the Big Board assigns attribute values to player grades, height, age, and potential and then uses a weighted average to score the prospects on a scale of 1-100. Here is the new weighted average that The Formula^TM will be using to evaluate this year's draft class:

We've also made a few changes to the way the attributes are calculated. Last year, we used the low end of each grade to calculate the numeric value of each grade in the player profile. This season, we are using the midpoint, so you'll see grades a little higher than last year. In an effort to reward players with more elite skills and ding prospects who have flaws in their game, we've instituted a penalty beginning with grades of C+. At C+, the numeric value was multiplied by .75, at C by .5, and any grade lower by .25. This will help to more properly value prospects that come into the draft with elite skills as well as all-around skill-sets. The changes to the gradeset attributes are in the table below:

Finally, we also made some adjustments to the potential rating in The Formula^TM. Because of anecdotal evidence from the past two seasons that shows the commissioner does a pretty good job of aligning true potential with displayed potential, I weighted potential higher in the weighted average formula above and I also significantly changed the scale on potential to value high potential players accordingly. So, without further ado, here are the results. I feel this edition did a much better job of adequately rating prospects. You will notice that bigs are not rated highly compared to wings and that defense is valued fairly highly. These are by design based on my personal preferences. Here you go:
