Cut Players claim system: We will no longer be operating under a strict first come, first serve system for cut players. A player will be on waivers for 24 hours after being cut. During the waiver period, teams may "claim" a player. By claiming a player, you will be taking on the current contract the player was owed before being cut. If claimed through waivers, the team who cut the player will be relieved of all salary owed to the player and the amount will transfer to the team who claimed the player. If more than one team places a claim on a player, the team with the worst winning % when the 24 hour waiver period ends will be given the player. Once the player has cleared waivers (been cut for 24 hours with no claims), they will become a FA. They are now first come, first serve on a 1 year minimum contract. The team who cut the player will be responsible for all of the previous contract. A team does not need soft cap space to take on a player's contract in a waiver claim. The team just needs to be able to handle the contract under the hard cap.
Note: Any player cut and claimed after the trade deadline will be ineligible for the postseason on their new team.
