preseason and summer league
no imgs today, there's an issue with the kernel and my stats are better anyway
.
1. Collin Sexton
Sexting is back in in a big way. By far the best scorer in preseason, had an excellent scoring summer league there too, good to great handles, elite d/r for a PG, decent size. Literally no holes in his game. Good thing he has an extra in his first name because he won't be taking any Ls for the rest of his career.
.
2. Luka Doncic
Would be an easy #1 in an average class. Plus efficiency, plus volume, plus rebounding, plus shot blocking, elite size, elite (possibly 100) jump shot. Has a little bit of fumble fingers, but he's not Alredick Hughes out there. Two guaranteed HoFers in this class.
.
3. Chris Taft
Young 27 of 42 put up Nowitzkian scoring numbers and very good rebounding, whether he sticks in the league comes down as always to shot blocking. He looks to be starting right on 2 per 36, which isn't ideal but won't take a miracle to salvage. Doesn't have great height, passes waaaay too much for a big man and suffers turnover issues as a result, but it all comes down to shot blocking. Some decent TCs and SCs and he should be able to break 3 per 36, and then the Suns' biggest problem will be finding a way to deploy an elite point guard and elite center at the same time. Good problem to have. Has a much lower floor than the top two but has an All-NBA level ceiling.
.
5. Hamidou Diallo
Was sensational in summer league, the harsh realities of sim preseason have dulled some of his shine. Looks to be a plus rebounder and decent scorer right now, but he's also probably too short to play backup SF on top of backup SG so if he has a future in the league it needs to be as a starter, which is going to require more ball discipline and hope that his summer league efficiency is more accurate than preseason.
.
5. Michael Porter
And now the quality drops off a cliff. Porter can't block at all, can't play SG, has turnover issues, and is a poor rebounder. With all that said he's a 6'10" SF who is probably an average scorer right now, and everything but the turnovers should mitigate itself to a degree over time. The Clippers certainly have plenty of opportunities for upgrades with this fella.
.
6. Mo Bamba
Bamba is huge. His preseason is one of the few that was an even smaller sample than summer league, so we can't put too much stock in his numbers, but he's looking like a high 3s blocks 11s rebounds type of player that doesn't shoot too much, and there'll always be a home for players like that in New York town.
.
7. De'Anthony Melton
After a summer league meltdown De'Anthony was solid in preseason. The Suns only really need "solid" from their backup PG, so the hope is that he had the flu at summer league and keeps up his Frank Johnson impression once the real season starts.
.
8. Zach Collins
Makes it on the basis that he was the only non Bamba to give even a whiff of shot blocking. He needs more than a little bit of grace though: his rebounding is poor, his volume is much too high for a d/r big, and his efficiency rules out playing any serious minutes at SF where he is eligible. Isn't a complete lost cause, but needs a lot of work.
.
9. Theo Pinson
Was Korver-esque in summer league. Was bad enough in preseason that on aggregate he has below average efficiency.
.
10. Paul Scruggs
Was okay in summer league. Really hope some of the guys who didn't play yet are good, it's gonna be a long year on the bottom rungs otherwise.

day 30 40 dammit steve jobs 45. 1. Luka Doncic - LR #2His scoring is better, his rebounding is *way* better, he's six inches taller, his handling and shot blocking are slightly worse, they're both PG eligible. They're both future HoFers, they'll probably be neck and neck their entire careers. What a top two. . 2. Collin Sexton - LR #1Sue me. . 3. Jason McElwain - LR unrankedPut up preposterous scoring in summer league and then didn't play at all in preseason. Looks like a fireable offense for the Bullets preseason associate head coach, because he's looking like the next Jesus Shuttlesworth, plus he's already PG eligible with an ast/tov ratio that won't quit. He's a little undersized to play SG and has iffy rebounding but even if he ends up there it won't be a tragedy as long as this scoring keeps up. . 4. Kyle Guy - LR unrankedLook at this guy. After a forgettable summer league he's setting the Cuyahoga River on fire. Granted with all the pollution and raw sewage stimulating the economy and making America great again you could set a Cleveland river on fire by dropping a penny in it, but still. Obviously his FG% is gonna come down, but his 3P% should come up judging by his grade so maybe it'll balance out. . 5. Lonnie Walker - LR unrankedLonnie's efficiency has dipped since a great all around summer league, but his shot blocking is even higher than the already sterling figure he put up there. Undersized and iffy rebounding, but this kind of shotblocking at shooting guard just doesn't come around that often. . 6. Chris Taft- LR #3As expected his scoring split the difference between the pre leagues. He drops only because the other guys got better, he is who we thought he is. . 7. Mo Bamba- LR #6The Suns steal another ladder darling. Bamba's blocks have dipped slightly since before the season but he'd be flooded with Knicks min offers as is, should grow into an elite d/r man. I think the last time a team had four ladder rungs it was the Timberwolves fabled draft of Hinrich, Wade, Walton, and some other guy. Great company for the Suns to be in. . 8. Killian Tillie - LR unrankedAnother flamethrower from summer league who rode the pine in preseason, Tillie isn't quite at JMac's level but is doing slightly above average scoring. His biggest problem is that he's only eligible for SF on the wings and his blocking is unplayable as a big, and his low scoring volume makes his efficiency number a lot more unstable. That said, an elite jump shot and a 6'10" frame is a great place to start even if it's the only plus skill. . 9. Deandre Ayton- LR unrankedGood rebounder, middling scorer and shot blocker, but he's 19 and 7'1", and he's close enough to being good in those areas that you gotta recognize the potential. Both shot blocking and rebounding took a big jump in the regular season, which is unusual, and he has a calamitous turnover problem. There are issues, but there is possibility. . 10. Andrew Jones - LR unrankedI get the feeling this is the kind of year where there'll be a new scrub in #10 every update. After washing out of the Braves farm league and very nearly washing out of preseason, Andreuw has been great in 67 minutes.

day 60. 1. Luka Doncic - LR #1The HoF buzz is dimming the worse these boys shoot, but they're still plus scorers as rookies with no real holes in their games, so the sky's still the limit. The Mafioso is still scoring better and the block gap has almost completely closed, so he stays ahead by a fish scale. . 2. Collin Sexton - LR #2SUE ME . 3. Lonnie Walker - LR #5I just don't know if he might not be the best prospect on the Suns when all's said and done a few years down the road, if you ask my opinion. He's scoring slightly more efficiently than the Sexounce right now and his blocks are off the charts. His scoring volume is so low that you expect his FG% to plummet but his outside components match up very well. Could just end up being the Andrew to Collin's Aaron. . 4. Jason McElwain - LR #35. Kyle Guy - LR #4Still two slick scorers with not much else going for them besides JMac's sublime handles. . 6. Mo Bamba- LR #7Blocks dipped a little but still the premier d/r big of the class. . 7. Killian Tillie - LR #8The efficiency could still go any which way, but as long as he's near average and putting up okay d/r he'll have a spot in this class. . 8. Chris Taft- LR #6Dropped him a couple spots, didn't realize he was 33. Could still grow a lot, but unlikely to have a long career. . 9. Zach Collins - LR unrankedZach's back. The class is still bereft of d/r men, he could still do that although he still shoots a bit too much. As a backup we can't really be sure how many minutes he's playing at each position. If he's putting up these kind of blocks at mostly SF he's an elite big right now. If mostly at PF, he needs time to grow. . 10. Deandre Ayton- LR #9Same here. Modest d/r potential is worth a couple Bucks.

Eric, why do you think Tillie is better than Pinson. Honest question. Because I think Pinson looks like a much better prospect.

Good for you, eric. You finally realize age and potential should be considered in the rookie ladder. Consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds. Our robot is becoming a man!

Eric, why do you think Tillie is better than Pinson. Honest question. Because I think Pinson looks like a much better prospect. Tillie has much higher efficiency, more boards, and slightly more blocks.

. 1. Luka Doncic "Leapin'" "Lucky" Luka keeps it rolling. Plus efficiency including elite jumper, very good rebounds, okay shot blocking and handling. . 2. Collin Sexton Sexton is closing the gap on efficiency and resumes his lead in blocks, but it's not enough to make up for the big rebounding edge. . 3. Lonnie Walker We've still gotta be uncertain because of the low volume, but the longer Lonnie keeps up combining average efficiency with elite blocking the better his HoF chances look. Could we have a three HoFer class? Oh wow. . 4. Jason McElwain Elite scorer in a smaller sample, good handles, d/r question marks. A mortal lock to play for the Knicks someday. . 5. Kyle Guy Everybody in the top five should have long careers in sim league. Kyle might be just barely able to take a Jump Shot camp, which would be huge. . 6. Zach Collins Right now Zach is a jack of all trades, with decent TC growth across the board he could become an elite two way big. With poor TC luck he'll be out of the league quicker than you can say Jack Robinson. . 7. Mo BambaBlocks keep slipping, but he's got low scoring volume and you can't teach that, and his rebounding doesn't need too much work. . 8. Deandre AytonAbout as good as Zach Collins, was brutal before the season though so he's got a little more penance to do. . 9. Chris TaftSuns are stacked. . 10. Nobody . stats pts/tsa blk/36 ast:tov reb/36 pts/36 JSH 3SH xp/t mp Player 1.097 0.53 1.96 8.13 26.50 99.53 61.47 1.085 2148 Luka Doncic SG 1.072 0.72 2.52 5.26 33.83 85.43 60.57 1.078 2269 Collin Sexton PG 1.093 2.37 1.32 6.39 11.25 82.82 63.18 1.056 1976 Lonnie Walker SG 1.122 0.35 3.33 4.50 14.88 90.06 90.94 1.113 1186 Jason McElwain SG 1.082 0.34 2.27 4.78 16.04 79.77 66.23 1.084 1224 Kyle Guy PG 0.994 2.37 0.80 9.70 18.54 85.32 27.68 0.982 1035 Zach Collins SF 0.834 2.50 1.43 11.41 9.62 74.98 -5.98 0.834 1131 Mo Bamba C 0.975 2.49 0.86 10.21 17.19 75.57 15.43 0.975 1792 Deandre Ayton C 1.079 1.93 2.38 12.93 25.73 89.16 36.84 1.058 834 Chris Taft C 0.841 0.00 4.60 4.32 15.84 81.77 44.23 0.844 188 Andrew Jones PG 0.901 0.79 1.44 8.72 14.75 68.81 57.19 0.858 1203 Billy Preston C 0.910 0.66 1.14 9.25 11.89 75.91 15.09 0.898 294 Clayton Diddle C 0.890 2.34 0.68 3.27 7.01 110.63 -19.63 0.845 46 Darian Parks PG 0.994 0.00 3.22 4.50 18.79 61.25 51.75 0.952 666 De'Anthony Melton PG 0.667 0.00 1.00 2.04 3.40 #DIV/0! #DIV/0! #DIV/0! 21 Dick Butt SF 1.000 6.00 #DIV/0! 10.00 10.00 #DIV/0! #DIV/0! 1.000 7 Donovan Mitchell SG 0.949 1.14 1.82 7.33 9.61 76.13 59.87 0.968 1370 Gary Trent Jr. SG 0.978 0.84 0.80 7.14 23.62 72.98 53.02 1.013 2058 Hamidou Diallo SG 0.799 0.00 2.00 4.74 8.21 91.39 21.61 0.792 684 Hassani Gravett SG 1.242 0.00 0.70 9.14 23.43 31.27 104.73 1.077 44 Jacob Evans SF 0.872 1.43 0.75 11.10 8.96 53.65 2.35 0.872 1146 Jessie Govan 2.0 C 0.847 0.84 0.67 11.11 11.39 51.43 39.57 0.853 1613 John Collins C 1.197 1.26 1.50 13.89 15.47 97.41 15.59 1.115 80 Jonathan Motley PF 0.689 1.75 0.77 8.29 6.55 110.63 -19.63 0.722 99 Jordan Bell SF 0.827 0.52 0.88 9.35 5.02 72.84 53.16 0.872 603 Junior Etou PF 0.762 0.00 1.00 7.55 6.10 57.72 55.28 0.838 794 Justin Jackson SF 0.994 0.51 1.00 8.62 7.86 100.28 35.72 1.014 909 Killian Tillie SF 0.932 0.20 1.38 7.77 11.45 81.62 44.38 0.941 1144 Kostja Mushidi SG 0.988 0.34 1.29 7.20 14.40 76.31 36.69 0.991 231 Kris Wilkes SF 0.956 0.69 0.46 8.31 10.50 46.81 22.19 0.960 1810 Mathias Lessort PF 1.010 0.59 1.06 6.57 20.87 88.74 57.26 1.032 1781 Michael Porter SF 0.951 0.38 2.06 4.80 13.89 86.96 26.04 0.953 1710 Paul Scruggs PG 0.967 0.21 2.00 7.82 18.51 69.90 56.10 0.952 1050 PJ Dozier SG 1.667 4.50 #DIV/0! 4.50 22.50 #DIV/0! #DIV/0! #DIV/0! 8 Shake Milton PG 0.996 0.55 2.25 6.98 13.55 76.28 49.72 0.980 1683 Theo Pinson SF 1.006 0.36 1.20 8.64 9.36 87.96 38.04 1.005 1620 TJ Leaf SF 0.913 0.00 3.40 5.35 19.46 65.99 47.01 0.897 326 Trevon Duval PG 1.015 1.40 1.50 8.04 14.33 59.72 76.28 0.989 608 Vince Edwards SF 0.667 0.00 #DIV/0! 9.00 18.00 #DIV/0! #DIV/0! 0.667 4 Wendell Carter C

day 120. 1. Luka Doncic - LR #1I went back and forth with the two future HoFers. Sexty caught Doncic in scoring efficiency by the end of the year and has a slight blocks edge. But the large rebounding edge and the super elite Jump Shot made me stick with Luka, plus both are PG eligible. . 2. Collin Sexton - LR #2SUE. ME. . 3. Lonnie Walker - LR #3Lonnie kept it up on the efficiency end. He might just be able to squeeze in a Jump Shot camp which would really help, and even if he can't he clearly can take either Inside Scoring or Strength camps. Should be a great glue guy at minimum. . 4. Jason McElwain - LR #4It's gonna be a great point guard class when JMac is justifiably fourth. The best efficiency and handles of the four big guys, which also means he has the lowest ceiling given the slower growth of the peripheral skills. Still, should be a fine player. . 5. Kyle Guy - LR #5I'm a little more skeptical of Kyle because his efficiency is built on Inside, which is a lot more likely to be a one year fluke than Outside. Still, The Great Butch Lee was an elite scorer with C Inside so being at C+ isn't a sure red flag. . 6. Zach Collins - LR #6As before, Zach and Deandre's stats were almost identical. I went with Zach because his blocking in preseason was good, and Deandre's was poor. Both of them need work to be playable on a great team, but both hvae time to do it. . 7. Vince Edwards - LR unrankedVin Man is back with his poor man's Ron Artest impression. Should become a decent scorer with proper investments, then his plus blocks/boards will make him a quality two way player. Not a good fit in a laissez-faire system. . 8. Deandre Ayton- LR #8See Zach Collins. . 9. Chris Taft- LR #9Phoenix has to hope they can fit a whole mess of shot blocking camps in before he retires, because the scoring and rebounding are too good not to play him. He's not Frank Kaminski out there or anything either, he's only a little under two per thirty six, it could be salvageable. . 10. Wendell Carter- LR unrankedGiving a shout out to a new boy, Wendell is a 6'11" 19 year old who in limited time doesn't block enough, but has good rebounding and scores well. Has plenty of time to hit good TCs and become a good shot blocker. . rest of lotto: Trevon Duval - good handles, poor scoring over about 800 minutes between reg and pre season. Needs some real TC love to be more than a backup. Hamidou Diallo - respectable blocks/boards for a shooting guard, but efficiency needs a lot of work Michael Porter - isn't far off efficiency wise so should mature into a decent backup at least, but isn't giving you anything else Mo Bamba - blocks got worse and worse as the season wore on. will get a min bid from the Knicks someday, needs luck to be worth more than that Billy Preston - matches Luka Doncic's blocks and boards, unfortunately he's a center, boom roasted PJ Dozier - his middle name actually doesn't even start with J, it's Bricklayer, boom roasted Gary Trent Jr. - good blocks and boards, poor efficiency but the very low volume sword swings both ways, and he was sensational in summer league. should definitely get another contract after his rookie deal Paul Scruggs - has a good jumper but is bad at everything else . stats pts/tsa blk/36 ast:tov reb/36 pts/36 JSH 3SH xp/t mp Player 1.082 0.64 2.13 8.09 25.99 99.47 61.53 1.067 2704 Luka Doncic SG 1.066 0.73 2.38 5.56 33.80 87.78 58.22 1.078 2744 Collin Sexton PG 1.089 2.34 1.16 6.16 11.10 81.64 64.36 1.054 2394 Lonnie Walker SG 1.153 0.29 3.50 4.41 13.96 90.33 90.67 1.122 2009 Jason McElwain SG 1.078 0.35 2.20 4.72 15.90 79.86 66.14 1.084 1689 Kyle Guy PG 0.994 2.39 0.90 9.94 18.70 83.62 29.38 0.980 1448 Zach Collins SF 1.021 1.36 1.40 8.49 14.60 74.66 61.34 1.025 837 Vince Edwards SF 0.982 2.35 0.83 10.02 18.06 77.73 13.27 0.982 2386 Deandre Ayton C 1.097 1.94 2.08 12.43 25.51 90.13 35.87 1.078 1251 Chris Taft C 1.020 1.91 0.43 11.79 19.75 68.05 -12.05 1.020 260 Wendell Carter C 0.883 0.00 3.67 4.15 16.62 82.62 43.38 0.867 250 Andrew Jones PG 0.918 0.64 1.88 9.00 15.43 74.63 51.37 0.882 1725 Billy Preston C 0.873 0.73 1.17 9.45 12.00 72.02 18.98 0.863 337 Clayton Diddle C 0.792 2.29 0.72 2.86 6.29 110.63 -19.63 0.769 50 Darian Parks PG 0.987 0.00 3.11 4.67 18.69 61.25 51.75 0.943 694 De'Anthony Melton PG 0.923 0.00 0.67 3.51 7.02 #DIV/0! #DIV/0! #DIV/0! 123 Dick Butt SF 0.900 3.60 #DIV/0! 5.40 5.40 #DIV/0! #DIV/0! 0.900 12 Donovan Mitchell SG 0.952 1.18 1.75 7.38 9.30 82.62 53.38 0.996 2001 Gary Trent Jr. SG 0.981 0.83 0.85 7.28 23.72 69.45 56.55 1.007 2837 Hamidou Diallo SG 0.820 0.32 2.10 4.74 8.53 88.99 24.01 0.815 912 Hassani Gravett SG 1.171 0.00 0.63 9.15 25.63 90.79 45.21 1.036 65 Jacob Evans SF 0.511 0.00 1.00 7.20 5.04 110.63 -19.63 0.511 15 Jalen Dench PF 0.902 1.27 0.91 10.73 9.45 58.04 -2.04 0.902 1604 Jessie Govan 2.0 C 0.858 0.85 0.73 10.73 11.44 54.70 36.30 0.864 1862 John Collins C 1.161 0.87 1.33 13.45 16.92 97.41 15.59 1.075 108 Jonathan Motley PF 0.689 1.75 0.77 8.29 6.55 110.63 -19.63 0.722 99 Jordan Bell SF 0.827 0.52 0.88 9.35 5.02 72.84 53.16 0.872 603 Junior Etou PF 0.781 0.27 0.75 7.36 6.27 52.91 60.09 0.832 1082 Justin Jackson SF 0.936 0.46 1.14 9.06 6.97 94.49 41.51 0.954 1271 Killian Tillie SF 0.932 0.20 1.38 7.77 11.45 81.62 44.38 0.941 1144 Kostja Mushidi SG 0.988 0.34 1.29 7.20 14.40 76.31 36.69 0.991 231 Kris Wilkes SF 0.921 0.58 0.54 8.33 10.42 46.58 22.42 0.920 2550 Mathias Lessort PF 1.012 0.47 0.95 6.64 20.97 89.38 56.62 1.035 2503 Michael Porter SF 0.833 2.11 1.30 11.30 8.74 74.21 -5.21 0.833 1745 Mo Bamba C 0.972 0.38 2.23 4.96 14.25 88.41 24.59 0.973 2321 Paul Scruggs PG 0.969 0.22 2.00 8.05 18.56 69.90 56.10 0.959 1079 PJ Dozier SG 1.432 4.50 4.33 7.20 29.70 110.63 25.37 1.320 16 Shake Milton PG 0.998 0.40 2.07 7.25 14.37 72.84 53.16 0.992 2239 Theo Pinson SF 1.020 0.37 1.10 8.66 9.64 85.29 40.71 0.992 2095 TJ Leaf SF 0.998 0.00 4.00 4.35 21.36 75.00 38.00 0.995 491 Trevon Duval PG
