Because random chance of killing gives us a 3/13 chance of killing a mafia. 2/13 chance of killing a power town. If you just vote people up, usually the maf votes will push us to kill a town basically every single time, unless there is someone like eric in the game where we can follow his lead.

If everyone had played normal from the get-go you'd be correct, but we didn't. So now this is our best bet. Does that at least make sense to you?

at least with random we have a 3/13 shot at killing a mafia. if its 1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-2 we literally gain nothing but have basically 0 chance of that 1 person being a mafia, especially if that person is me.
