Young is a heady floor general that is a sneaky good scorer. Athletically he is a very quick and capably strong guard whose only limitation is his white-man hops. He's much more of finese player inside and has a very good mid-range game. His 3 point shot could use some work. He is a very good ball handler that knows how to distribute the ball and get teammates involved. If there is a deficiency for Steve it is that he's not a shower defensive player. He's solid as a perimeter defender, but doesn't take chances to get steals or blocks. He's a below-average rebounder for a guard.
