1.1 The Created Player
Damn, this created player is sure to be elite. Would the GM have spent all of those dump bucks just to trap someone? If it was Pete who made him, yes. If not, no. This guy is sure to be an elite player from Day 1. The only question is "how elite will he really be?" But I can't answer that, only heavy reign can. Remember: if all else fails refer to the profile and god damn this guy has a good one. All of that scoring and rebounding and handling and defense. My gosh, will he ever be stopped? HOF lock.
1.2 The B B scoring wing with A pot
Look, every change in society is built around one guy getting tired of the bullshit and every championship team is buil around one B B scoring wing with A pot. And, with this guys name he is virtually a lock to have high true pot. Defense may win championship in football, but in basketball you just have to score more than everyone else and I dare you to name a better place to start. True elite teams have multiple B B scoring wings, but if this guy is good enough you may only need one.
1.3 The busty big
Everyone loves busty bigs and busty bigs love Orlando. These are the players typically drafted by people who are used to picking at 1.3. Honestly, it seems like they don't even know who else to draft sometimes. So lock in the busty big as 1.3
1.4 The Nebraska guy
Would 20s really be this transparent? Would any commish really be this transparent? The answer is pretty much always yes. There's no more dependable draft pick than a guy that went to the school the commish is a fan of. Look at players like Tyronne Lue and Glynn Watson. Great examples of why you always take the Nebraska guy 1.4, right BKay Jewelers
1.5 Old school D/R big
It's not like these guys are going away completely, they are just no longer a dime a dozen. Now they're more like $25m per dozen. Which, at least to me, means that you can now justify taking one this high in the draft. They won't be coming around too often and everyone loves bigs who don't shoot and block 4 shots per game. Hell, maybe he doesn't have turnover trouble at all. Maybe he adds in some steals. Look at Allen of the Bobnuggets. What a D/R big that guy is. Def take him at 1.5, maybe even sooner.
1.6 Next best wing prospect
1.6 is always the worst. Pretty much always means no more Top 5 players. After that it's just a bunch of useless Top 10 and Top 20 players. So exciting. But sometimes it works out well and that's usually when you take the next best wing prospect. Sure, it would have been nice to win the lotto and add that B B scoring wing with A pot but hell, you can't win them all. And that's a very important lesson to learn early in your life in TMBSL. Good luck next lotto.
1.7 The established player with C pot
If you're picking at 1.7 there's only a 1.7% chance you aren't ready to contend the next year. And what better way to start contending than drafting an established player with C pot?!? I'll go ahead and answer: there isn't one. Omar Little is a great example of this, too bad his GM quit soon after he was drafted. Hopefully we see more players like this with the league coming to an end sooner rather than later.
1.8 19 year old wing with promising grades
85% of the time 1.8 is owned by someone other than the original team. The original time tried their best but just didn't quite keep you out of the lotto. Bless their heart. But spoils of war and all that. Here you take the 19 year old wing with promising grades. It's a fact that 100% of teenagers you draft have a dream teen TC. That's really the only reason you're able to maintain an elite level of success year after year. Pair that with a Nebraska player drafted way too late and baby you've got a stew going.
1.9 The guy with good grades that everyone says the commish hates
So you're bold. I get it. We get it. Hell, bolder than Bold Chex Mix most likely. But are you bold enough to draft a guy with good grades that everyone says the commish hates? I'm not. Others have been. Usually doesn't work out too well for them but hey, this guy has some pretty good grades and maybe the commish doesn't really hate them that much. Manu and Jalen weren't really that bad in the end, were they? (they were)
1.10 who gives a shit, you're an inactive gm
Thank god you don't give a shit because all that's left is shit. You always have this pick because you don't care to improve players or make quality personnel decisions. We typically refer to this as the Yawn Zone, albeit the lower edge of it. You could draft a hidden gem or a late bloomer but nah, you're committed to not giving a shit so that's what you draft, shit. But hey, maybe FA will be better for you.
1.11 the late bloomer
You've been winning for a long time but this season didn't go too well did it? Well, that's a sign it's time to tank, and this guy is exactly who you need: a late bloomer. He won't be good right away, hell he may not be good before his contract is over. But will he be good by the time your 5 year tank ends? You bet your ass he will be. Just don't let him walk in FA for pennies. Have some faith; believe in your late bloomer.
1.12 the guy that really shouldn't have B pot
This dude should NOT have B pot. What is this DM thinking? Good thing 20s knows all and can correct this by giving him the highest possible pot for players with B scouted pot. This guy may not be the best player on your future title team, but he can be a major contributor. In time. Lots of time. But as long as you stick with him you won't regret taking the guy that really shouldn't have B pot.
1.13 hidden gem supastar
This player can come in many forms. Nebraska players, a teenager with good grades and A pot, anything. But let it be known, this guy is 100% a hidden gem supastar. Who even needs to tank when you can get guys like this at 1.13? Just casually miss the playoffs one year. If you can master getting this pick you have mastered sim league. Just land your 1.13 and sit back and laugh while GM after GM passes this guy up. You have identified him as a supastar and you have never been wrong before. Don't panic though as there's no reason to trade up, this guy is a hidden gem.
