Alex "A-Lo" Lopez Center 20 6'9" 286 Miami D+ C+ D+ B+ A- A
The first thing scouts notice about Alex is that he's playing the wrong sport. However, they believe his game will translate from the ice to the hardwood. Lopez is undersized for a Center and not all of that weight is good weight, but he makes up for these deficiencies with surprising athleticism that he uses to block shots at a high rate. He is not the most fundamentally sound defender, but he gets the job done. Does a great job out hustling people to control rebounds and is known to get his stick hand in the passing lane to create a steal or two each game. He is not great with the puck on his stick ball in his hands and can't make a breakout pass to save his life. Alex is prone to the occasional turnover but it is not a dramatic issue. Under the rim he is pretty worthless due to more poor fundamentals and his lack of size. However, he can shoot. His unorthodox jump shot is efficient which makes him a threat from mid-range and scouts wonder if he can ever extend his range it to the 3pt line (I doubt it). A true throwback, he shoots his free throws underhanded and hits them at a very high rate. Watching Lopez play isn't pretty, but somehow, it's effective.
For my fellow GM's some game footage for your scouts.
