Kings offer one additional first round pick, bringing the total package to Sanders plus three late firsts. Nuggets offered four firsts and 30k dump bucks, which is the equivalent of another 5-6 firsts according to eric , so 9-10 total. So, eric, where is your incessant bitching about collusion between me and Heebs and how I'm full of shit for claiming I'm not colluding? Shouldn't you be whining more about me still not taking the Nuggets offer?

Just stop, eric. You want people to tell you that you're the smartest guy here and, admittedly, you probably are in many respects. Including a third team like the Pelicans, who have two elite guards and a very good small forward all locked up well past these draft picks does nothing to improve the value of those picks. Stop pretending that it does. I don't know what you mean by "spiderface". Not sure if this is another insult or what. I accepted the Kings offer because it included what I considered a very good prospect. Just like the Hornets offer did. The Nuggets offer did not. When I tried to counter the Nuggets offer to get a prospect, I was ignored. Finally, let's keep in mind that the Nuggets are in my division. Trading my Hall of Fame point guard to a division rival should be taken into account here. This was the extent of my referring to trading to a team within my division. It was the last line of my 10th post in that thread and was very clearly an afterthought. Saying that this statement invalidates everything else I said in that thread shows you're really grasping for something. This is the second time you've gone back to it because you've realized it's now one of the few things you've said that is actually meritorious and, like an adult, I can admit that this particular statement was indeed made without much thought and was not a major factor in my decision not to accept Odin's deal. You're wrong, eric. It happens from time to time and you should be OK accepting that. You're wrong, yet you still win because you get to have your stamp on this trade, just as you do everything else in this league. For the thousandth time, I should be able to determine the course of action I'd like to take in rebuilding my team. That decision should not be yours or anyone else's. If there was a consensus that this trade was unacceptable, then it should be vetoed. But that's not what happened. We've now had, outside of the actual trading parties, Majic, Fason, Delap, and BK agree that this trade should be processed (which would seem to indicate that they don't believe it to be collusive) and, as far as I can tell, none have a vested interest in the success of the Spurs or Hornets. The fact that you would explicitly accuse two general managers in this league of collusion because they want to run their teams differently than you want to run yours is immature and detrimental to what little creativity there is left in this league.

Just stop, eric. You want people to tell you that you're the smartest guy here and, admittedly, you probably are in many respects. I want people to not make blatantly unfair trades. I also want people to not attack straw men and move the goal posts, as you did throughout the rest of this post, but the main thing is the main thing.

Then question the Kings trade in the same way you questioned the one I actually wanted to make. The value difference between the two is negligible. But once again, you chose to ignore all of the attributes that I highlighted that would indicate to someone who hasn't picked apart the software that Budda is a promising prospect.

C- defense and D+ rebounding are a severe limitation on potential. At least Nash, who had a similarly bad defensive grade at PG, was “productive” in getting steals.
The only thing that possibly makes Sanders and Budda comparable assets is that you could lose Sanders next year. That is a risk.
Also, the Pelicans picks and the Hornets picks are a wash. I think most GMs would take the Pelicans picks if the Hornets has Lonzo, but I don’t think the value difference between 1.24 and 1.28 is big enough to really care about.
What makes the Kings offer significantly better is the Kings 56, which could be between a late lotto if they don’t resign Omar to another late first.
I think the Nuggets haul was objectively better than either of the Kings or Hornets haul, but that doesn’t factor into your intent to have space in FA and tank next year.
Ultimately I accepted your offer because I wanted this thread to die because it has made my brief tenure as commissioner miserable. Being a dick about lopsided trades is not what makes being commish fun.

Ultimately I accepted your offer because I wanted this thread to die because it has made my brief tenure as commissioner miserable. Being a dick about lopsided trades is not what makes being commish fun. I get it, man. I really do. I get that at the surface, the trade could have looked sketchy, which is why I have so adamantly defended my intentions, even after accepting an admittedly better deal (although I believe it's only slightly better and, again, will be quite upset if Budda becomes good). The first line you said about Budda's defense and rebounding are interesting to me and no doubt factor into the lopsidedness that you see. But I also have a fundamental issue with not being able to learn and make that decision on my own. I wanted a point guard who could develop into a scorer eventually. His B+ scoring grades and A potential had me excited. I was not concerned with Budda being great today because I want to have a couple of years of being down so I can accumulate assets. It would give me the opportunity to develop a young point guard over time who I thought looked promising and went to the university that I graduated from, which would have made it even more entertaining. Again, I understand your issue with it all and have no qualms with you feeling that it wasn't good for the balance of the league. I was told by numerous people I got duped in the Monta trade, then I immediately won a championship. I was told I got duped into acquiring Anthony Mason (primarily by eric, who I almost believed at the time) and then he turned into one of the best small forwards in the league and another key piece on a championship team. If I listened to what others said, I'd probably still have Antawn Jamison and Brandon Ingram as my starting wings. Frankly, I don't want to listen to eric as it pertains to the health of my team. What he defines as "good" is not my definition of "good". I understand that some of that is inarguable, but I want to be able to make my own team with its own personality that can win - not a team that follows the same model that every other team has been following season after season. What really set me off is that the only possible explanation for this trade, according to eric, is that Fecta and I are colluding and I, for some reason, have the goal of helping him out. I wanted to clear cap space and he had the cap room. I wanted to acquire first round picks, knowing I wasn't going to get any guaranteed lottos, and he offered picks. I wanted to get at least one good prospect, and he offered a prospect that I still really want. I wanted to get a player I'd been eyeing since the last draft for multiple reasons who has progressed even better than I had initially envisioned. But no, eric accused me (and Fecta) of collusion and that ended up being the final decision. You can understand how incredibly frustrating it would be to try and honestly do something and have someone question your motives and character. How incredibly frustrating it would be to try and apply your own methodology to something and be told you can't. How frustrating it would be to want to truly start from scratch and have your own fingerprint on something and be told that you can't. Still, even after the Barry Sanders trade, it doesn't feel like it's mine. If I win a championship with Barry at SG, no doubt people will say that you saved my ass by not letting me make my initial trade. If I lose Barry or Budda ends up being an elite point guard, then it'll instead be me saying "told ya so," which isn't ideal either because I really just want to win. I don't blame you, Heebs , and if I came off heated at first and said anything offensive to you then I apologize. I appreciate that you've taken over and are doing everything you can for the betterment of the league because it's honestly one of few things that I really enjoy participating in anymore. What I don't appreciate is that eric is free to attack my character (and honestly, that of a good friend) - I will continue to defend myself and my intentions - and I don't appreciate how he's able to coerce others (this isn't specific to one person, I feel like it applies to the majority of people in this league, including myself at times) into believing that his way of thinking is the only correct way of thinking.

Tim you need to take a breath here. There's clearly a lot going on besides this trade on your mind, and it's coloring your perceptions of what's happening. Trades get vetoed all the time, especially for new GMs. The commish decision was made before I posted anything beyond "veto". Nobody's coerced. Nobody's attacking your character. It's a sim league ffs. Epstein Gate was 100x the controversy this is, and we all moved past that without any grudges being held. We can do that here too.

You have no idea what's going on in my mind, and you have no right to tell me that those nonexistent things are affecting the way I see other things. I'm not one to hold grudges for an extended period of time, eric. But this happened two days ago and you've continued to harp on my intentions ever since.
