Constantly neglected as a youth, Malkinson once compared a kiss from Sally Darson to feeling almost like "someone cared about" him. He, like Butters, has long-served as a punching bag for those around him, giving him the ability to handle heavy amounts of punishment down low. The constant ridicule has built Scott some really thick skin, creating a player who is very good defensively, both on the glass and as it pertains to blocking (out) others. His diabetes and lisp are the primary targets of others' criticisms, both of which have made Scott incredibly averse to shooting ever for fear that missing will only serve to give his bullies more ammunition.
