Voters tried to cover up their blatant anti-semitism with a pity nod to Rabbi ben Simmons, but I'm not buying it. Throw in a bizarre All-Rookie 1st to Tony "Even I Don't Know Who I Am" Pierce and we're looking at an all time fiasco.
Speaking of all time fiascos, this rookie class! Here's the top ten win share seasons for rookies:
Herb didn't just put up the best rookie season ever, he put up the best by far, and Pete only narrowly missed making the top three a Maccabiah Games affair. Granted the Royals and Celtics were also unusually good defensive teams to be drafted on, but still. For those wondering, the next three highest rookie WS in this class were JHB 6.1, Eric HOVGmann 5.9, and Alex Lopez 4.8.
In a remarkable turn of events, the rookie class also produced the worst WS in the league with Inur Fason's -6.1. This is only the sixth worst rookie season on record by WS but it's probably fitting that the class that killed 4.0 managed to bookend the entire league in year one.
