Eating Salary
Eaten amount would be spread equally over remaining years in form of "cut player" salary, player must make a minimum $15 mil/year to be eligible, maximum of $15 mil eaten
Example Nuggets Trade McAdoo, eat $10 mil, $5 mil cap it each year, McAdoo's salary is decreased for his new team's cap to $16 mil and $17.5 mil respectively for the remaining two years
Just an idea that makes guys with huge salaries more tradeable if their current team is willing to take the cap hit over x amount of years.

I like the idea and would support it being implemented into the league. But I would like to have trade backs completely eliminated or have a 1 year minimum before a player could be traded back.

i think it'd be a given that guys whose salary was eaten couldn't be traded back

I'd be even more of a fan of giving teams a stretch provision that can be used like a buyout.
So say I have an expiring $6MM vet on my team that's ruining my tank. I say I want to stretch him, so I can cut him and pay him $2MM each year over the next three years. He then is treated like a bought out player.

I do not support this idea. Think it has the ability to provide unfair advantage and just let the top teams accumulate even more talent. We don't need a wider gap between the haves and the have nots.

Not sure I see what you're saying. Tanking teams are not better off with a 30+ year old guy making 15+ mil on their roster. Also, given the cap situation of most top teams, there aren't really any who'd be able to afford more than one guy if that.

Yeah so I'm going to trade a top team my expiring superstar and eat the whole salary except the minimum so I can have him off my team.
They have to just sign a minimum guy.
