Basically, I collected all the data from the end of 3007 player pages and did some rankings based on the data available. I think a lot of this is very interesting, let me know what you guys think or if you would want me to do anything like this again.
Most titles for all players currently in the league at the end of 3007. Jerod Kundla is the Lord of the Rings as he is the only player currently in the league with 3 titles. The crazy part of this is there are only 9 players with multiple championships currently in the league.
This was one of the stats that inspired the article. I was curious which players won the player of the game award in the most amount of their games, and what would be considered a good percentage? So here it is. No surprise, Magic Johnson leads TMBSL and has won Player of the Game in almost half of his games played. There seems to be a clear top 5 and then a little bit of a gap after Barkley.
Moses Malone leads TMBSL in percentage of games with a double double. Moses has recorded a double double in an insane 81% of his career games. The most interesting part of this one is Magic Johnson coming in at 14 and being the only PG on the list. Charles Barkley is the top ranked SF at 16.
Magic Johnson fucking destroys everyone here. It isn't even close. This is insane. In fact, I don't know what is more insane, that he gets triple doubles 4 times more often as anyone else, or that he gets a triple double one out of every 4 games.
Magic.
Magic.
This is one I was curious about. Who takes the most 3 pointers as a percentage of their shot attempts? I set a minimum of 100 FGA for this to remove any people with like 1 3PA in 2 total shots. Jimmy Paxson pulls down the [HASH]1 spot with 32% of his shots being 3s. The interesting part of this stat is how close everyone is. Makes it clear that it is difficult to get anyone to take more than 30% or so of their shots from deep.
These are the dudes who get to the line the most. Dick Mumma has 53% as many FT attempts as FG attempts. I thought if I was giving the guys who shoot from deep some love, I should examine the same for the big men. Interesting that there are only PF/C on this list. This also had a minimum 100 FGA.
Min 50 games played. Gervin is almost at 3 threes made per game. Westphal comes in 2nd. This is a list of pretty good players overall.
Min 50 games played. I was curious as to who had the best steal rate. This is about the closest thing I could come up with. Paul George gets a steal every 15.9 minutes he played which is good enough for [HASH]1 on the list. There are a lot of the guys you would expect on here but there are a few surprises who don't get much playing time, too.
Min 50 games played. Dante Royce leads the way here. You might be saying who? Dante Royce has been a long time Buck, and despite his shitty grades, he generally puts up good numbers when he plays. I have long time been a big fan of him but Trofie always resigns him. I did not expect him to lead TMBSL in this category but it doesn't exactly shock me either. Every 8.3 minutes he is on the floor, he is contributing a blocked shot. The Nets have the guys at 2nd and 3rd in Dwight and Catfish, apparently they are the new version of the Block Brothers.
