Regarded as one of the best big man prospects in years, Greg Oden entered college with more hype than you can imagine. After a year where he dazzled with his skills but was hampered by injuries, he is ready to move on to the NBA. Oden was a dominant force inside scoring on a very high percentage of his shots. He doesn't have a ton of range yet, but his athleticism allows him to score in a myriad of ways. With a little season and work on his post game, he could be a fantastic scorer at the next level. He had to shoot his free throws with his off hand due to an injury so scouts are unsure about his stroke from the line. Defense is where this guy really makes scouts drool. He is a beast physically and he really understands how to play the paint. He impacts the game at a high level, altering many of the shots he doesn't block (and he blocks plenty). His size combined with his jumping ability and athleticism make him a force on the glass as well. The only weaknesses at all in this big man's game are his injury history and his need to refine his skills some. Potential is off the charts and if everything goes right, he could be a Hall of Fame player. |

Bol was also 200 lbs, c potential and no other skills that were above average, but hey same thing right? What does that have to do with comparing his defense to Oden's? Shouldn't drop Oden's D just because he's good in other areas. |
