Figured a lot is made out of the rookie draft that I would take a look at some of the potential impact free agents in next years class. I am going to break down some of their averages thus far on the first 1/4 of the year heading into FA with some thoughts. Obviously not all are max type of FA, some are but others are players that have interested me on my first look over.
Centers
Dwight Howard - Thus far on the seasons has an average of 17.8 points, 12.5 rebounds and 3.9 blocks a game. Clearly a difference maker on both sides of the floor.
Emeka Okafor - Averaging 22.4 points, 12.6 rebounds and 3.2 blocks a game.
Robert Parish - He might be older than Howard and Okafor but at 32 he is still producing. 21.6 points, 11.6 rebounds and 1.5 blocks a game average. clearly a step behind Okafor and Howard but still a quality player.
Terry Mills - Pretty interesting 5 - a stretch 5 with a B+ shot from the outside. On the season he is averaging 18.1 Points and 9.0 rebounds and 1.6 blocks a game.
Power Forwards
Al Jefferson - Averaging 17.2 ppg, 10.7 rpg and 2.8 bpg. The former 2nd pick of the draft would be high on a lot of teams wish lists.
Yinka Dare - Averaging 3.0 ppg, 10.8 rpg and 2.5 bpg. Not a lot of impact 4s in this FA. Not a good offensive player but he can rebound and play defense. Not much depth in the PF market in FA. He could be decent depth to a contending team.
Small Forwards
Shaun Livingston - 18.8 ppg, 7.7 rpg, 3.9 apg, 2.0 spg, 1.8 bpg. Very good all around stats and still only 21 years old.
Luke Babbit - 19.4 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 1.7 spg. He does not have outstanding vitals of B, B+, C, C, C+ but he is producing well. But a lot of his stats are probably because someone has to get them on a bad team. With the lower defense rating, will not be a highly sought after player but he is showing he can produce maybe above his vitals.
Josh Smith - 8.3 ppg, 9.2 rpg, 2.4 bpg in 30.4 mpg. His vitals are good with B-, B-, C A- and B+. If he gets on the right team, he could be a very nice piece.
George McGinnis - 18.3 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 1.1 spg. Has a A- inside scoring but a C- on the outside. Has a B defense and a A rebounding. Not a max contract guy with his age (35) but could get a 1-2 year contract.
Maurice Lucas - 13.9 ppg, 9.0 rpg, About the same player as McGinnis but 2 years younger. Mirrors his game with a good inside game but a poor outside game.
Shooting Guards
Reggie King - 34.3 ppg, 7.9 rpg, 4.7 apg, 2.3 spg. A-, B, B, A and C vitals and is 30 years old. Should be one of the highly sought after FA's in the offseason if he keeps up this scoring.
JR Smith - 21.3 ppg, 7.6 rpg, 3.9 apg, 2.0 spg .517 FG% .429 3FG%. Very good offensive vitals of B inside and A on the outside C+ on everything else. With his age of 22, will be a player that teams will covet if he hits FA.
Ricky Sobers - 20.4 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 2.0 spg .415 3FG%. Real good offensive vitals like JR B inside and A on the outside but better handling (B) and defense (B+) than JR. However, he is also 10 years old than JR.
Billy Knight - 19.7 ppg, 8.1 rpg, 4.5 apg, 1.2 spg. Real good overall vitals of A-, B-, B-, B and C+. A little bit older at 33 but it producing well. Should be able to command a 2-3 year deal.
Luke Jackson - 21.3 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 1.5 spg. Overlooked on my first time around but has good vitals of C+, A, B-, B+ and C+. Shooting well from the floor (.479 fg and .403 from 3). With his age (25) will be a player that could be a long term answer.
Point Guards
Johnny Moore - 12.7 ppg, 10 apg, 1.2 spg, 1.6 topg . Has a B- outside scoring but has a A handle and B+ defense. With his age (28) should be a player that should not get a ton of money but is going to be a productive bench player on a good team.
Jay Humpries - 17.8 ppg, 8.9 apg, 2.1 spg 1.8 topg. Has a B+ outside scoring and a A- handle with a A- Defense. Shooting well from 3 (.417) thus far on the year. With his age (27) should be in a similar position as Johnny Moore.
Jason Kidd - 18.5 ppg, 11.9 apg, 2.7 spg, 1.8 topg. Has good scoring vitals on the inside (B-) and outside (B+). Has a A+ handle and A Defensive rating. With his Age (28) should demand a max contract.
Sebastian Telfair - 17.1 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 9.7 apg, 2.4 spg, 3.9 topg. Has a A- outside vital, A+ handle, A- Defense. With his age (22) has a lot of long term potential.
Jameer Nelson - 10.3 PPG, 3.5 apg, 1.7 topg in 14.8 mpg. He is not getting a ton of time but his vitals are very attractive B, A, A-, B, C-. He is still a young player (25). Could be a player that could generate some interest.
Slick Watts - 8.9 ppg, 10.6 apg, 2.4 spg, 1.1 topg He is not much of a scorer C+ and B- but he has a good handle rating (A) and plays good defense (A). A little bit older (34) will most likely be a 1-2 year deal.
Foots Walker - 17.0 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 8.7 apg, 2.0 spg, 1.8 topg, .503 FG%. Scoring vitals of C+ and B, might be currently playing a little over his head. But has good handle (A-) and plays good defense (A). Will be in the same tier and boat as Slick Watts in FA.
David Thompson - 36.2 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 10.7 apg, 2.9 spg, 1.5 topg, .512 fg%, .470 3 fg%. Has tremendous vitals A, A, A, A, C. Only thing holding him back is his age (31) but will demand a max contract if he hits FA.
