3007 Lottery Re-Draft
1. Hank Gathers SG 6’7” 240 26 A- B- C B+ C+ B (+4, +0 POT)
Originally 1.3 Hank Gathers SF 6'7'' 235 23 B+ C- C- B- B B
Could be that Gathers was a late bloomer or that he was just being held down due to limited minutes but Gathers comes in at number one overall due to his very strong start to the 3010 season. Gathers is currently averaging 21.7 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists while shooting 48%. Don’t think Gathers is worth a max contract this offseason but he looks to be a good shooting guard for a championship caliber team. With his size and inside scoring Gathers could also be a very good small forward.
2. Bo Kimble SF 6’4” 200 B+ A- C- A- C+ B (+6. +0 POT)
Originally 1.4 Bo Kimble SG 6'4'' 190 23 B- B C- B C+ B
Kimble came into the league as a scoring machine for the tanking Clippers in 3007. His numbers drastically dipped the next two years once there was talent around him but this year Kimble has had a bounce back season with the Hawks. Kimble is averaging 22.9 points, 6.8 points and 2.3 assists while shooting 46.5%. Like Gathers, Kimble isn’t worth a max deal but could be a starter on a contending team.
3. Derrick Coleman PF 6’10” 240 25 B C D+ A A- C (+3. -2 POT)
Originally 1.2 Derrick Coleman PF 6'10'' 230 21 B C- D+ B B+ A
Coleman’s grades haven’t really improved much during his career but he has proven to be a solid power forward. Although Coleman has been disappointing offensively, he has always been a good shot blocker and rebounder. This season Coleman is averaging 12.8 rebounds and 3.9 blocks a game while adding 14.3 points on 46.4% shooting. Coleman has yet to go through a skills camp so there is still a chance he could improve his offensive numbers and become one of the better power forwards in the league.
4. Gary Payton PG 6’4” 190 24 B B A- A- C B (+7. -1POT)
Originally 1.1 Gary Payton PG 6'4'' 175 21 B C B- B+ C A
Payton so far has had an underwhelming career for being the top pick in the draft. He had a decent run with the Raptors and I think before the season most would have ranked him at worst as the second or third best player from this class but he is having a really bad year so far. Payton is averaging 20.4 points and 9.4 assists but is only shooting 40.6% from the field, 26.7% from beyond the arc and averaging 3.3 turnovers. Right now looks like he will just end up being a decent starting point guard instead of a star like most expected.
5. Felton Spencer C 7’0” 280 26 B+ C- D A-B+ C (+7. -2 POT)
Originally 1.6 Felton Spencer C 7'0" 265 23 B- D+ D+ B C+ A
Spencer has been a solid center for Chicago since his rookie year giving them good shot blocking and rebounding numbers. This year Spencer has been able to raise his field goal percentage from 44.4% to 51.7%. Spencer is averaging 12.6 points, 9.2 rebounds and 2.9 blocks. Spencer should be a starter or at worst a third big for a championship caliber team.
6. Dwayne Schintzius C 7’1” 260 25 C D D- A A B (+4, +0 POT)
Originally 1.14 Dwayne Schintzius C 7'1'' 260 22 C D D+ B B B
Schintzius comes in at six after going just outside of the lottery in the original draft. Schintzius has become one those defense and rebounding only bigs that every team wants. Schintzius is averaging 12.2 rebounds, 3.1 blocks and just 6.7 points. He has been the perfect complimentary player on the loaded Rockets. Schintzius will probably offer to resign for a really cheap deal and be a starting power forward or center for the majority of his career.
7. Dominic Long C 7’3” 278 A- C C- C+ B+ B (+6, -1 POT)
Originally 1.10 Dominic Long C 7'3'' 278 22 A- D+ D+ C B- A
Long has had a surprising start to his career, I think most felt RW took a risk selecting a software created player in the top ten but that risk has paid off as Long is one of the most efficient scoring big men in the league. Long is averaging 17.9 points and 11.1 rebounds on 51.9% shooting. Long provides no defense so not sure if he is a long term answer as a starting big man but at worst he is a good third big who will give you good scoring numbers.
8. Toni Kukoc SF 6’10” 192 25 B+ B+ C C+ C+ C (+6. -2 POT)
Originally 1.12 Toni Kukoc SF 6'10'' 192 22 B- B- C C C A
Don’t think anybody has really noticed Kukoc since the Pacers were without a GM for so long but he has quietly been a nice scorer without going through any skills or rewards camps. This season Kukoc is averaging 21.1 points, 6.7 rebounds and 3.6 assists while shooting 48.2% from three point range and 43.8% overall. At worst Kukoc looks like he could be a solid bench player and worth a MLE, if he can improve his defense and overall field goal percentage than he could be a starter for a playoff team.
9. Jayson Williams PF 6’9” 240 25 C D C- A- A B (+6, -1 POT)
Originally 1.17 Jayson Williams PF 6'9'' 240 22 D+ D D+ B A- C
Williams is another one of those defense and rebounding only bigs. He has averaged just over 10 rebounds and 2 blocks per game the last two seasons. Williams will probably never be a starter but a cheap third big guy that everybody wants.
10. Terry Mills PF 6’10” 230 25 C+ B+ C B+ B- C (+7, -1 POT)
Originally 1.23 Terry Mills PF 6'10'' 230 22 C B D+ C+ B- B
Mills looks to be an interesting player as a stretch four. Mills has only played in 9 games this season but last season with the Nuggets he was a decent scorer and good three point shooter averaging 18.7 points while shooting 43.3% from beyond the arc. Mills looks to be nothing more than a decent player off the bench but an interesting power forward due to his three point shooting.
11. Elden Campbell PF 6’11” 215 25 B- C D A- B B (+7, -1 POT)
Originally 1.13 Elden Campbell PF 6'11'' 215 22 C D+ D+ B C+ A
Campbell has had a solid season as the Orlando Magic’s third big. Averaging 10 points, 8.7 rebounds and 1.1 blocks a game while shooting 49.4%. His field goal percentage could just be a product of playing with Magic Johnson though. At worst Campbell looks like he could provide solid depth as a fourth big.
12. Tyrone Hill PF 6’9” 240 B+ D+ F+ B-B+ C (+0. +0 POT)
Originally 1.26 Tyrone Hill PF 6'9'' 240 22 B D+ D- B- B+ C
Hill’s grades haven’t moved since coming into the league and he hadn’t been getting any playing time up until this season but this year he has been decent as the Raptors third big. Hill is averaging 9.4 points, 9.2 points and 2.8 blocks in 26 minutes a game. Going forward Hill will be a nice player to provide rebounding and shot blocking off the bench.
13. Lionel Simmons SF 6’7” 210 25 B C+ C- A B B (+4. -1 POT)
Originally 1.11 Lionel Simmons SF 6'7'' 210 22 B C+ C- B B- C
The overall depth of this class is weak so Simmons gets this spot by default due to still having some decent grades. Simmons is only playing 10 minutes a game for the Rockets this season but he put up decent numbers back in 3008 when he was a starter averaging 13.8 points and 8.6 rebounds while shooting 44.1%. Simmons looks to be nothing more than a low level exception or roster filler type of player.
1. Hank Gathers SG 6’7” 240 26 A- B- C B+ C+ B (+4, +0 POT)
Originally 1.3 Hank Gathers SF 6'7'' 235 23 B+ C- C- B- B B
