Author's Note - This year's edition of the Prokorov Report is going to hit a little early. As most of you know, because I've bitched about it enough, the Weebrew II has arrived and, while I've got a lot of downtime because I am off of work, it is sporadic and unpredictable. There have been, and will continue to be, a number of articles from the Prokorov Report over the next couple of weeks as I'm bored out of my mind for the most part. This article will be edited to include all prospect's and their grades in descending order as we get closer to the draft.
3012 Prospect Draft Grades
The Prokorov Report
Best Available
Ray Allen - SG (15) b- b c b- c a 21 6'5" 205
Allen, an instant impact rookie with great potential, is the prize of this draft.
Allen Iverson - PG (13) b c+ c+ b d+ a 21 6'0" 165
AI looks like a SG at the next level. His handles depress his draft grade at PG, and the Report grades him out at a 17 as a SG, which is the highest grade in the Report's illustrious, if brief, history.
Kobe Bryant - SG (13) b c+ c+ c+ c a 18 6'6" 199
Are we noticing a SG theme to this draft? Bryant likely won't make an instant impact, but he had grades in all the right places to be a star in the league.
Antoine Walker - PF (13) b- c c c+ b- a 20 6'8" 224
Without a weakness, Walker could play a number of positions for his new team.
Sharrif Abdur-Rahim - PF (12) b+ c- c- b- b- a 20 6'9" 225 PF
Abdur-Rahim's got traditional big man grades and great potential. His offensive grades suggest he'll take his fair share of offensive opportunities, but he might hit them as well.
Instant Impact
Marcus Camby - C (13) b d+ d+ b+ b+ b 22 6'11" 220
Camby's going to enter the league as a starter. An elite shot blocker and rebounder, he's going to make an instant impact for the lottery team lucky enough to land this college star.
Reggie Geary - PG (13) c+ c- b+ b+ d+ c 23 6'2" 187
Geary won't win any shooting titles at the next level, but his elite handling and defense for a rookie will make him an immediate asset in TMBSL. With enough coaching, he may overcome his shooting liabilities and become a quality starter over the next couple of years.
Jeff Norgaard - PF (12) b c c+ c c+ b 23 6'7" 225
Norgaard could play either forward position at the next level and should provide instant depth for a playoff team in the latter half of the first round.
Sleepers
Malik Pope - C (9) b- c+ d+ b- c+ c 24 6'10" 235
Pope's grades, save his potential, are very good. The report feels Pope may have more room to grow than scout's give him credit for. If true, Pope could be a steal in the late first round.
Drew Barry - PG (10) c+ c+ b b- c c 23 6'5" 191
Barry's only weakness is his scouted potential. If he's got much room to grow, Barry will be a significant contributor sooner rather than later.
Brian Evans - SF (6) b- b- c+ c c+ c 23 6'8" 220
The Report is going out on a limb here putting Evans on the sleeper list. Evans is a great shooter that will be able to come off the bench and provide instant offense. He'll need to focus on his strength and defense to make it in the league, but if he can do that he should have a long productive career.
