Round 1
1. Pacers - Kevin Durant SF 19 6'9 215 B- B C- B- B- A
1. Pacers - Kevin Durant SF 19 6'9 215 B- A- C B B- A (+4)
For the second year in a row newcomer HarryG lucks into the sure-thing prospect at the top of the draft. Much like Bossert, Durant also fulfills expectations by blowing up in his outside scoring and defense along with a handles bump. Having these two on rookie contracts is just unfair. If only he had signed an all-league PF...
2. Kings - Greg Oden C 20 7'0 250 B D+ D+ B+ B A
2. Kings - Greg Oden C 20 7'0 250 B D+ D+ A- B A (+1)
20s debated who he should take with this pick, even offering it for Greg Monroe when MJ was concerned about Magic leaving. In the end, he decided on Oden, who didn't do as well as the two picks that bookended him but still had a nice improvement on some already great grades
3. Sixers - Mike Conley PG 20 6'1 180 B- C B B C- A
3. Sixers - Mike Conley PG 20 6'1 180 B B- A- B+ C- A (+6)
Mike Conley seemed like a risky pick to me as he reminded me of a worse Gary Payton, but clearly Odin had different ideas. Conley absolutely exploded in TC, improving in every important PG grade and even +2'ing in handles and outside scoring. As the end of Fason's uber-tank approaches, it looks like Philly fans finally have something to get excited about.
4. Lakers - Al Horford C 21 6'10 245 B C- C B- B A
4. Lakers - Al Horford C 21 6'10 245 B C- C B B A (+1)
Horford looked like a safe pick and the right pick at 1.4. Buster may be a little disappointed that he wasn't able to snag a top 3 pick, but Horford's got a nice grade set and should continue to develop into a strong starter in LA.
5. Nuggets - Nick Young SG 22 6'6 200 B B- C C+ C B
5. Nuggets - Nick Young SG 22 6'6 200 B- B C B- C B (+1)
After ignoring the advice of several GMs, Bankz was widely ridiculed for selecting Nick Young at 1.5. While his grade changes in TC don't look too bad so far, the Busty P label looks accurate after his early preseason returns showed he shot as inefficiently as his real life counterpart.
6. Nets - Spencer Hawes C 19 7'0 245 B- C C B- C+ A
6. Nets - Spencer Hawes C 19 7'0 245 B- C C B- C+ B (-1 potential)
The publicized Prokhorov Report loved Spencer Hawes, as did several GMs at the time of the draft. After TC, things aren't looking quite so rosy for Hawes, as he doesn't improve any of his core grades while his potential dropped a grade. He's still young, dumb, and full of cum, so let's not write him off quite yet.
7. Pistons - Joakim Noah C 22 6'11 232 B D+ C+ B B B
7. Pistons - Joakim Noah C 22 6'11 232 B D+ C+ B B B (no change)
Noah was considered a safe selection, and he does have grades that put him as a borderline starter, but Wolf has to be disappointed in the lack of improvement for Noah. Maybe he will be a late bloomer in TMBSL like he was in real life.
8. Sonics - Jeff Green SF 21 6'9 235 B C C C+ C+ A
8. Sonics - Jeff Green SF 21 6'9 235 B C C B- C+ B (+1, -1 potential)
Jeff Green was circled on a lot of draft boards because of his Kenon-like grades and Odin's potential preference to Georgetown players. The TC returns point to a less promising career than Kenon or fellow Georgetown alum Greg Monroe, as Green has a pretty bland TC. Bump in defense never hurts but a +1 coupled with a drop in potential might mean Jeff doesn't have much more growing left in him.
9. Sonics - Yi Jianlian PF 20 7'0 238 B- C D+ B- B- A
9. Sonics - Yi Jianlian PF 20 7'0 238 B C D+ B- B+ B (+3, -1 potential)
The Chairman takes a Great Leap Forward in TC, bumping his rebounding by two letter grades along with an inside scoring bump. A certain GM who traded this pick for Terence Stansbury feels pretty foolish right now.
10. Blazers - Tiago Splitter C 23 6'11 232 B+ C- D+ B B C
10. Blazers - Tiago Splitter C 23 6'11 232 B+ C- D+ B B+ C (+1)
Tiago looks like a great fit for Duc's team as he finally looks poised to break into the playoffs for the first time in the post-Walton era. Splitter was seen as a finished product ideal for a competing team, and lived up to that billing.
11. Bucks - Thaddeus Young PF 19 6'8 220 B- C C- C+ C+ A
11. Bucks - Thaddeus Young PF 19 6'8 220 C+ C C C+ C+ A (no change)
The first of three straight Bucks picks, Thad Young is looking more like Bad Young. Although there was no net change to his grades, a drop in inside scoring hurts a lot more than an increase in handles helps. Trofie will have to hope that Thad's youth allows him to bounce back in next year's TC.
12. Bucks - Nick Fazekas PF 22 6'11 235 B C+ D C+ B- B
12. Bucks - Nick Fazekas PF 22 6'11 235 B+ B- D+ B B+ B (+7)
Holy guacamole!!!! Trofie was raving during the draft about getting Fazekas and gets rewarded with a ridiculous +7 with increases to every grade and a couple +2s to go with it. While Trofie may be disappointed with some of the other rookies he got in this draft, there is no debate that he got one of the biggest steals of the year scooping up Fazekas with the 12th pick.
13. Bucks - Arron Afflalo SG 22 6'5 215 B- C+ C B C B
13. Bucks - Arron Afflalo SG 22 6'5 215 C+ C+ C A- C B (+1)
I used to be jealous of Arron Afflalo. I'm not anymore, because he's looking like a defensive specialist and nothing more. His scoring grades may improve down the road but right now he's far from being able to provide meaningful minutes.
14. Nets - Acie Law PG 23 6'3 195 B- B B B- C- C
14. Nets - Acie Law PG 23 6'3 195 B- B+ B B- C- C (+1)
In the most controversial move of the draft, 20s backed out of a trade with Bankz to then trade that pick to Hebrew. It became clear why Hebrew was so desperate to trade after he selected Acie Law one spot ahead of known Texas A&M jizzjar owner GM Dumptime. Law has a nice increase to his outside shot, and rumor is he will be sent overseas for a couple seasons for further development. We'll see if he's able to take over the starting PG role when he returns.
15. Celtics - Glen Davis PF 22 6'9 289 B- D+ D+ B B B
15. Celtics - Glen Davis PF 22 6'9 289 B- D+ D+ B- B- D (-2, -2 potential)
After getting the love of his life Acie Law stolen right out from under his nose, Dump settled on Big Baby with his pick. After Davis' abysmal training camp, Dump is now acting like a Big Baby on shout. A match made in heaven.
16. Sixers - Marc Gasol C 23 7'1 265 B C- C- B- C+ B
16. Sixers - Marc Gasol C 23 7'1 265 B C- C- B B- A (+2, +1 potential)
Fason was in talks with several teams about moving this pick if the guy he wanted was gone, but to his delight Marc Gasol slipped to him at 1.16 and he made a 1st round selection outside of the top 3 for the first time since 3004. Marc looks like a great pick here, although his preseason numbers have some comparing him to Kevin Willis.
17. Pacers - Jason Smith C 21 7'0 240 B C C C+ B B
17. Pacers - Jason Smith C 21 7'0 240 B C C C+ B- C (-1, -1 potential)
As proof that the Pacers luck isn't infinite, Harry whiffs on this Jason Smith pick, as he goes in the wrong direction in both rebounding and potential.
18. Bucks - Sean Williams PF 21 6'10 235 B- D+ C- B+ C+ B
18. Bucks - Sean Williams PF 21 6'10 235 B- D+ C- A- C+ A (+1, +1 potential)
Williams has the best non-Fazekas TC for the 5 Bucks rookies by increasing his defense and potential. He's got some nice raw tools but remains at least a year away from being anything more than a backup big.
19. Kings - Corey Brewer SF 21 6'9 185 C+ C+ C- B+ C B
19. Kings - Corey Brewer SF 21 6'9 185 C+ C+ C- A- C B (+1)
Another underwhelming TC for a member of the Florida title teams, Brewer looks very similar to fellow rookie Arron Afflalo. He's got killer defense but nothing else to write home about, and will need some real help to contribute
20. Nuggets - Javaris Crittenton PG 20 6'5 200 C+ C+ B- C+ C- A
20. Nuggets - Javaris Crittenton PG 20 6'5 200 C+ C+ B- C+ C B (+1, -1 potential)
Alleged murderer Javaris Crittenton certainly didn't kill this TC, as he increases in a pretty meaningless category while dropping in potential. Yet another disappointing rookie TC for Bankz, whose luck has to eventually turn around.
21. Hornets - Wilson Chandler SF 20 6'8 220 C+ C+ C C+ C+ A
21. Hornets - Wilson Chandler SF 20 6'8 220 C+ C+ C C+ B- A (+1)
Chandler had the look of a big boom or bust TC, and while I wouldn't call this a bust, he fizzled out of TC with only one increase to his rebounding. Not much to get excited about here.
22. Pacers - Rodney Stuckey PG 21 6'5 205 B- C B- B- C A
22. Pacers - Rodney Stuckey PG 21 6'5 205 C+ C+ B B C B (+2, -1 potential)
Stuckey had himself an interesting training camp. I think a jump in outside shooting will outweigh the drop in inside scoring, while he also got some nice jumps in handles and defense. Stuckey may develop into a good backup PG when Harry is ready to make a move for a surefire starter.
23. Nets - Josh McRoberts PF 20 6'10 240 B- D+ C+ C+ C+ A
23. Nets - Josh McRoberts PF 20 6'10 240 B- D+ B- C C+ B (no change, -1 potential)
McBob had a very ugly training camp, as no one really cares about increased handles in a big man prospect. That defense drop kills his value, and a drop in potential means it likely won't improve much in the following seasons.
24. Suns - Petteri Koponen PG 20 6'4 197 C+ C+ B- C+ C B
24. Suns - Petteri Koponen PG 20 6'4 197 C+ C+ B C+ C B (+1)
The foreign PG didn't go nuts, but could develop into something down the line. Ank will likely be hoping for a big TC next season with the hopes that he can provide some decent minutes behind Westphal in the meantime.
25. Knicks - Jared Dudley SF 22 6'7 225 B- B C B- C C
25. Knicks - Jared Dudley SF 22 6'7 225 B- B C B- C C (no change)
Note to self: don't expect big things from a guy with Dud in his name. JMZ does nothing to improve on what were some decent starting grades.
26. Sonics - Daequan Cook SG 20 6'5 204 C+ B- C- C+ C A
26. Sonics - Daequan Cook SG 20 6'5 204 C+ C+ C- C+ C B (-1, -1 potential)
I was a little surprised Daequan fell this far in the draft, but it looks like he should've fallen further. The two best things about him, his potential and his outside scoring, both take a hit, and Daequan looks cooked.
27. Kings - Marco Belinelli SG 21 6'5 193 C+ B C C C B
27. Kings - Marco Belinelli SG 21 6'5 193 C+ B C C C B (no change)
Marco! Polo! Kittenfish out of water!
28. Raptors - Julian Wright SF 20 6'8 225 B C- C- B- B- B
28. Raptors - Julian Wright SF 20 6'8 225 B C- C- B B- A (+1, +1 potential)
For the third year in a row, the Raptors scoop up a late 1st round pick who shows some promise. I'm interested to see what happens to Julian's defense at PF, as he seems much more suited for that position than SF.
29. Bucks - Jermareo Davidson PF 23 6'10 230 B- D+ C- B- C+ B
29. Bucks - Jermareo Davidson PF 23 6'10 230 B- D+ C- C+ C+ B (-1)
Trofie took a smart gamble here that the former Alabama standout might stir up some homerism in Odin, but instead Jermareo drops a defensive grade and looks like a fitting Mr. Irrelevant for the first round of our draft.
