Round 1
1. Warriors - Jahlil Okafor C 6'11'' 272 19 B+ D+ D+ B- B A
1. Warriors - Jahlil Okafor C 6'11'' 272 19 B+ D+ D B A- A (+2)
The big, big man has a nice TC. Okafor looks like he'll be a beast on the glass, and a defensive bump is great. Efficiency will likely be the question mark, since he didn't get any favors to his outside scoring.
2. Pistons - Myles Turner C 6'11'' 242 19 B- C+ D+ B- B- A
2. Pistons - Myles Turner C 6'11'' 249 19 B+ B- D B B- A (+3)
That sound you hear is Ian swooning. After a controversial near-trade, Tyler selected the Texas big man and was rewarded with what looks like an excellent TC. Turner's got some great scoring grades and looks on his way to strong defense as well. Also, if you change swap the first and last letters from each name, you get Tyler Murnes. Coincidence???
3. Timberwolves - Stanley Johnson SF 6'8'' 243 19 B C+ C- B- C+ A
3. Timberwolves - Stanley Johnson SF 6'8'' 243 19 B+ C+ C- B C+ A (+2)
After Bankzghazi, Ian was forced to settle for Stanley Johnson at 1.3. Stanley did fairly well, and should get some help thanks to an owner who will make sure to pump some points. The turnovers in preseason are probably giving Ian some Grant Hill PTSD, but Stanley is well on his way to a nice career.
4. Heat - Karl-Anthony Towns C 7'0'' 248 19 B C- D+ B- B A
4. Heat - Karl-Anthony Towns C 7'0'' 248 19 B C- D+ B B+ B (+2, -1 potential)
This KAT is on a hot tin roof in Miami, bumping up his defense and rebounding. The big man looks like a promising player, and although Canes was disappointed in the potential drop, he's not likely to give up on him as quickly as he did with Iverson.
5. Magic - Emmanuel Mudiay PG 6'5'' 200 19 B- C+ B- B- D+ A
5. Magic - Emmanuel Mudiay PG 6'5'' 200 19 B B- A- B- D+ A (+5)
MJ's magic touch continues, as he snags one of the big risers at 1.5. Joining sophomore sensation Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Mudiay has fans in Orlando thinking of a new day. Who would've guessed the Magic would be so intriguing this quickly after dealing away Magic and Monroe.
6. Nuggets - D'Angelo Russell PG 6'5'' 175 19 C B- B B- C- A
6. Nuggets - D'Angelo Russell PG 6'5'' 175 19 C B B+ B+ C- A (+4)
Bankz is no fan of brown sugar, but this is one D'Angelo he must be excited about. After catching some flak for passing on another PG on this list, Bankz gets a good TC from his rookie and temporarily quiets the haters. With no preseason stats to go by, Russell's actual production remains to be seen.
7. Cavaliers - Cliff Alexander PF 6'9'' 254 19 B C- D+ B B+ B
7. Cavaliers - Cliff Alexander PF 6'9'' 254 19 B+ C- D+ B A- B (+2)
Heel makes a solid pick here. Cliff isn't quite the riser that some of the others nearby, but B+ inside and A- rebounding as a 19 yr old is spectacular. If Cliff keeps it up, we'll be calling him Alexander the Great.
8. Grizzlies - Delon Wright PG 6'5'' 179 23 B C+ B- B C B
8. Grizzlies - Delon Wright PG 6'5'' 179 23 B B B+ B C B (+4)
Wright is the player most expected Denver to select a couple picks earlier, and Druce has to be absolutely thrilled that he fell to 1.8. B B scoring grades with defense to boot? Memphis has yet another draft day steal, in the exact same pick where they picked up Emeka Okafor all those sim years ago.
9. Hawks - Frank Kaminsky PF 7'0'' 242 22 B+ B- C C+ B C
9. Hawks - Frank Kaminsky C 7'0'' 242 22 B+ B C B B+ B (+4, +1 potential)
Do you guys like polar bears? I've heard that polar bears aren't actually white, but that their hair is clear and reflects light the same way ice and snow do. I think polar bears are neat. If I ever saw one, I would share my Coca-Colas with them.
10. Suns - Justise Winslow SF 6'7'' 229 19 B- C C- B- C+ A
10. Suns - Justice Winslow SF 6'7'' 229 19 B- C C- B C A (no change)
No Justice, no peace for Winslow, who is the first TC dud of the class. The young buck can still turn things around, but whether he's a SF who can't shoot or a PF who can't rebound, the future is cloudy for Justice.
11. Nets - Georges Niang PF 6'8'' 236 22 B- B- B- B- B- C
11. Nets - Georges Niang PF 6'8'' 236 22 B B B B+ B B (+6, +1 potential)
Sweet Georges brown! Heebs gambles on the big man with the crazy grades, and Niang passes his first test with flying colors. There is literally nothing you can't like about Georges, who is a B or above in every single category. The toughest decision Heebs will face is what position Niang should play.
12. Cavaliers - Willie Cauley-Stein C 7'0'' 244 22 C+ D+ C- A- B B
12. Cavaliers - Willie Cauley-Stein C 7'0'' 244 22 C+ D+ C- A- B+ B (+1)
Willie doesn't have much improvement, but then again he didn't need much. WCS should be an instant impact D/R big man for Heel.
13. Bullets - Kelly Oubre SF 6'6'' 204 19 B- C+ C B- C+ A
13. Bullets - Kelly Oubre SF 6'6'' 204 19 B- B- C B+ C A (+2)
Oubre slips in rebounding, but there is a lot to like with young Kelly. He's already stout defensively, and looks like he's got the potential to be a balanced scorer as well. Eric Bledsoe will be happy to have a young running mate on the wing, even if things are looking a little less impressive everywhere else.
14. SuperSonics - Jerian Grant PG 6'5'' 204 23 B C B C+ D+ B
14. SuperSonics - Jerian Grant PG 6'5'' 204 23 B+ C- B B- D B (no change)
Jerian was a bit of a gamble at PG. Normally a PG with B+ inside is a great sign, but C- outside means he's probably going to have a lot of trouble scoring. The drop in rebounding spells trouble if Vedder is considering moving him to SF too.
15. Warriors - Kevon Looney PF 6'9'' 220 19 B C- D+ C+ B A
15. Warriors - Kevon Looney PF 6'9'' 220 19 B C- D C+ B C (-1, -2 potential)
Looney apparently started before preseason with a D listed potential instead of A, but judging on Odin's shouts earlier he didn't stand much of a chance either way.
16. Hornets - Jonah Samake SG 6'4'' 224 19 C+ B- C B- C- A
16. Hornets - Jonah Samake SG 6'4'' 224 19 C+ B+ C B- C- A (+2)
The first software player off the board, Jonah has a great jump in outside scoring but not much else. No matter what, any software guy who doesn't drop in potential is a minor miracle, so we may not have heard the last of Jonah.
17. Raptors - Justin Anderson SF 6'6'' 222 21 B- B- C- B- C B
17. Raptors - Justin Anderson SF 6'6'' 222 21 B- B C- B- C B (+1)
Mister Anderson gets an increase to his outside scoring as well. Pegged by some as a strong sleeper due to his presence on Odin's fantasy team, Anderson was fairly underwhelming and will likely not get much chance to prove himself this season.
18. Knicks - Deshawn Olsen PF 6'9'' 245 22 B+ C- C C+ C A
18. Knicks - Deshawn Olsen PF 6'9'' 245 22 B C- C B- C B (no change, -1 potential)
The long lost Olsen twin gets a defensive bump but otherwise looks very average. Eric will love him.
19. Bullets - Mario Hezonja SG 6'8'' 200 20 C+ C+ C+ C+ C+ A
19. Bullets - Mario Hezonja SG 6'8'' 200 20 C+ C+ C+ C+ C+ B (no change, -1 potential)
The traditional Corky special, Mario looks not-so-super after TC. C+ across the board.
20. SuperSonics - Kristaps Porzingis PF 7'0'' 220 20 B- C+ D+ C C+ A
20. SuperSonics - Kristaps Porzingis SF 7'0'' 220 20 B B- D+ B C+ A (+5)
Odin's weird name fetish strikes again! Kristaps jumps in his scoring grades, and while it's cheating a little to count the +3 he received at SF, the two increases together point to Porzingis being the steal of the draft.
21. Grizzlies - Bobby Portis PF 6'10'' 235 20 B C D+ C+ B- B
21. Grizzlies - Bobby Portis PF 6'10'' 235 20 B C D B- B- B (no change)
As proof that Druce isn't completely infallible in the draft, Bobby has a bit of a snoozer. His grades are still pretty solid, so he could be a late bloomer.
22. Suns - Joshua Smith C 6'10'' 350 23 B C- C- B- B- C
22. Suns - Joshua Smith C 6'10'' 350 23 A- C- C B- B- C (+3)
The big fella has a huge training camp. There are almost never rookies with A- inside grades, and the combination of size and grades means there is a good chance Joshua will be a beast in the paint.
23. Pistons - RJ Hunter SG 6'5'' 180 21 B- B C B- C- B
23. Pistons - RJ Hunter SG 6'5'' 180 21 B- B+ C B- C B (+2)
Hunter is an interesting prospect at SG, and looks like he could develop into at least a solid backup in a couple years. A certain GM north of the border had a hard time passing on RJ, and he and Justin Anderson continue to look pretty similar.
24. Cavaliers - Rondae Hollis-Jefferson SF 6'6" 212 20 B- C C B B- B
24. Cavaliers - Rondae Hollis-Jefferson SF 6'6'' 212 20 B C C B B- A (+1, +1 potential)
Hollis-Jefferson has the grades of a big man, but not the size. Out of four Cavs first round picks, Rondae is the biggest question mark. He's still pretty interesting and could turn out to be a great pick here, but he also may end up as a tweener that doesn't fit in anywhere.
25. Hornets - Derek Shelton SG 6'7'' 228 20 C+ C+ C B+ C A
25. Hornets - Derek Shelton SG 6'7'' 228 20 C+ C+ C B C B (-1, -1 potential)
RV takes another software wing, and this one looks a bit less promising. Defense and potential dropping means we can probably write Shelton off as a bust.
26. Pacers - Montrezl Harrell PF 6'8'' 230 21 B D D+ B- B+ B
26. Pacers - Montrezl Harrell PF 6'8'' 230 21 B+ D D+ B A- B (+3)
Jerry West is back, taking over the reins of a really great team from the never-present HarryG. Much like the real Jerry West, he has proven very good at drafting, and again finds great value for his pick. B+ D scoring isn't ideal and probably means inefficiency, but Harrell's defense and rebounding are both good and with some points into his jumper Harrell could eventually replace Donyell in the starting lineup.
27. Nets - Tyrone Wallace PG 6'5'' 200 21 B- C+ C+ C+ C+ B
27. Nets - Tyrone Wallace PG 6'5'' 200 21 B- B- C+ C+ C B (no change)
Smoochie can kiss his rookie of the year dreams goodbye. He comes out of TC almost as raw as he went in, with a drop in rebounding and a jump in outside scoring. Reports are that he lost confidence in his game after coaches insisted on calling him by his government name.
28. Nets - Jake Layman SF 6'9'' 205 21 B- B- C- C+ C+ B
28. Nets - Jake Layman SF 6'9'' 205 21 B- C+ C- C+ C B (-2)
To put it in Layman's terms, he sucks.
29. Cavaliers - Devin Booker SG 6'5'' 186 18 C+ B- C C+ C- A
29. Cavaliers - Devin Booker SG 6'5'' 186 18 C B- C C+ C- B (-1, -1 potential)
Heel couldn't resist taking a Booker, even if he didn't go to Clemson. His loyalty is rewarded with an absolute stinker of a TC, and the Cavs draft ends on a sour note.
Round 2
1. Timberwolves - Robert Upshaw C 7'0'' 264 21 C+ D- D A- B B
1. Timberwolves - Robert Upshaw C 7'0'' 264 21 C+ D- D A- B B (no change)
