Playing the Robin to Pervis Ellison's Batman, Payne contributed mostly on the defensive end of the floor while chipping in here and there on offense. Many of the open looks he did get were thanks in large part to Pervis, but he did show the ability to knock down the open jump shot. His defensive ability is unquestioned and should translate to the next level.
