I did this once before and it was well received so I thought I would do it again (plus I was interested to see where guys like Thompson and Gervin ranked before they retired). So this is as of the end of the 3013 season.
Kundla has lost the throne (kind of). Previously our only player with 3 championship rings, Jerod is now joined by Catfish, three of dil's mainstays, and George Gervin who got his third with the Rockets.
Magic Johnson is the leader in this category (spoiler alert: this becomes a trend). He has taken home player of the game award in over 54% of his games played which is very impressive considering only one award is given out even though two teams are playing. The award generally goes to a player on the winning team. Oscar and David Thompson are the only other guys above 40% and only 10 players or so check in above 25%.
Wilt barely edges out Moses Malone who was #1 the last time I ran these numbers.
a) Magic Johnson is dominant over the rest of the players.
b) He puts up a triple double in over 1/4 of the games he plays. That is nuts.
Magic Johnson (then Skywalker).
Magic barely has the lead over Skywalker here.
Reggie takes the highest amount of threes in the league. I'd say he was made well by Odin.
All big men here. Not unexpected.
Gervin and Thompson were 1-2 and both retired after the season. It is interesting that all of the top 5 are creation guys. Young bucks not making as many 3s?
Interesting names at the top. It is expected out of Muggsy but Abdul-Wahad is a guy who is a pretty shitty player overall.
Catfish #3 out of active players is pretty impressive. The two guys ahead of him have only played limited minutes.
