There were reports that he wanted a short deal, which is why the five-year extension surprised me. I figured that if Chicago kept offering five years he'd go get a three year max on the market and have them match. It's not like they would've let him walk.

I love that the collective bargaining agreement is so complicated that I've never even heard of the max qo until this season

It's not like they would've let him walk. yeah the max QO killed all that... it was sign a long term deal or a 1 year deal... No one is passing up 90m outside of Eric
