Ballard overall is a solid player, but he doesn't have one skill that sticks out as being elite or capable of being elite. While Ballard could develop into a premier player by taking his game to the next level, the seems like a coin flip given his work ethic at Oregon. Like most players from Oregon, Ballard will immediately be the fastest player in the league once drafted. Ballard should be able to defend most wing players, he has good size for the position and his quickness prevents players from driving past him easily. Statistically he isn't going to block many shots, or get a lot of steals, but he can still defend. Ballard's rebounding is a bit above average for the position as well, but it isn't elite. Ballard should make for a good rotation player at worst, which is where he most likely figures to stay during his career.
